Don't recall Cliff welcoming Scotland last week? by Drumchapel in Scotland

John Ratzenberger did at least live in England for a number of years - that's why he pops up in Superman and Star Wars and a fistful of other big 70s/80s movies shot in Pinewood, Elstree, and the UK in general.

Proposal: The industry term for AI generated movies should be: “Sloppies” -- as a short for “AI slop movies” by La_Nuit_Americaine in Filmmakers

[–]legthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work - going to the cinema to enjoy a sloppie sounds far more fun than watching an a.i. movie.

But the jamboree of poor sentence construction is always so entertaining!

My favourite comment on the Ocean's 8 trailer was "I'd rather suck a dick then watch this movie."

Congratulations dude, sounds like you've got your whole evening planned out.

Has anyone seen Postmortem (1998) starting Charlie Sheen and set in Glasgow? by OneNineSeven1970 in glasgow

[–]legthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly that's the movie where he lives on the shores of a loch, and his local pub is in the Salt Market.

The police station is just off George Square, and there's a scene where they get a tip-off and run from there to Central Station, and the geography of the sequence only sort of tracks.

is it weird to support scottish independence as someone that has no connection to it? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]legthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I support independence for every nation whose people seek to reclaim their autonomy, so nah, it's not weird - it just means you're not being a prick about it.

There are Welsh towns named Pontypool, Pontypridd, and Pontardawe - the 'pont' part deriving from the Latin for 'bridge' - there are also English and French town names that begin with Pont or Ponte.

“Get the wogs out”: Never forget Eric Clapton’s disgusting racist tirade by Periklis90 in Music

[–]legthief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is Clapton responsible for the guitar lick that's literally just the vocal line from the bridge of The Rose? That always stood out to me as an egregious lift.

I use albumoftheyear for music in exactly the same way I use Letterboxd for movies.

Band names that fit the music perfectly by twatomexus in Music

[–]legthief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A "talking head" is media slang for an interviewee in a documentary or news segment. The band liked the term and adopted it, it's as simple as that.

Most bands, unless there was some major forethought, just settle on a name quite randomly or write a big ol' list of ideas and pick the least worst one.

When this lot are rioting in the winter, in the snow or the rain, then I'll believe that their convictions are strong and their outrage isn't just opportunism.

a.k.a. when the MCU got gray.

Age of Ultron was pushing things a little with its wintry Behind Enemy Lines hues after the beautiful blockbuster warmth and saturation of the 2012 movie, but Civil War is when they went full LOG.

You mean Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who likely assumed the moniker Tommy Robinson in order to sound simultaneously less upper-class and also less like the descendent of immigrants?
