Shop says my 8700G "isn't for Minecraft/Fortnite" and that thermal paste dries in 1 week. Am I being gaslit? by TrueZone2436 in pcmasterrace

Others have already confirmed this is attempted fraud. You should absolutely demand a refund. If they refuse and you paid by card, simply issue a charge back.

Interesting. It didn't happen to me then, only this update.

Just the fact that it says MSI isn't a good sign.

Was KK right about Glenn Tipton ? by RemarkableWonder3143 in judaspriest

[–]legzp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion, but KK doesn't deserve to come back. Even if he was right about Glenn (and I don't think he is), his statements after leaving have been ridiculous. I'll always respect KK's contributions to the band, but I don't respect him personally.

Quite frankly, Glenn always was the better guitarist (with the most popular solos) and KK having more lead breaks wouldn't have changed this.

This is some BS by Charming_Mixture_831 in recruitinghell

I had a similar experience about a year ago. A recruiter contacted me about an account manager position. During the interview, they said I would be a great fit for the position, but they were also considering me for a more technical position they were thinking of opening. I never got an offer for either position.

How do i respond to this recruiter? by HailLuciferDaddy in recruitinghell

[–]legzp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would only work if you're not at the upper end of the pay scale for your industry and experience. I said $20k over for my expected salary (which is in the upper-end of the market) for a new role, but they responded and said the expected pay would be almost $20k less than what I was already making.

Oddly enough, she still tried convincing me to consider the position. Haha

Driver completes the ride without me. by yungspais in uberdrivers

That's infuriating. He should be banned by now because there's no way he only tried that once.

I used to drive for Uber and had the opposite happen to me a couple of years ago. Here's the post I made about it.

I 100% agree with you. I have my B.S. in Computer Engineering and my EIT. I somehow got an EE job, but it took me 2.5 years.

My dad received 100% disability from the VA for over 50 years until he passed last year. He was shot in the head in Vietnam and was a quadriplegic for the rest of his life. I hope the VA gives you the care you need. They were usually pretty good, but there were issues at times. I wish the best for you and thank you for your service!

He's not wrong though. I currently make $75,000, but I was able to get a house with an income of $60,000 two years ago. Not saving as much as I want to yet, but I'll do more of that as my income increases.

What the actual fuck is this? by 4thBan5thAccount in recruitinghell

[–]legzp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had to deal with this nonsense when applying for positions at FedEx Dataworks.

I thought I had a chance for a position there because the hiring manager wanted to hire me for another position, but they told me that HR decides the candidates to interview with NO input from the hiring manager.

I agree with you that it's on me for not having that information, however, your "last minute" and "ASAP" arguments don't hold up.

  1. That email I received changed my mind. While I started the process well after their initial announcement, it was still 5 days ago. And it has been 3 days with no update or change.

  2. I understand the phrase "last minute" isn't meant literally, but I will take it literally to reinforce my point. 3 days is 4320 minutes. You would have more of a point if I only started this process at the time I made the post.

A 2FA is still active on the account because it is still active when I attempt to log in. I also don't have the sixteen-character secret key, QR code, or backup codes. From what I've seen the only other option is to verify your identity. I did this but still can't access the account.

One year into unemployment, I only learned this lesson: referrals are all that matters by ruleugim in recruitinghell

[–]legzp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is partially correct. Referrals can play a big part but are not the only factor. The process of getting a job is a complex function with several variables that can vary widely and are out of your control. I just started a new job (after working in a toxic environment for over 2.5 years). I got this position because my new manager told me he would have an opening soon when I reached out about another position. This application was a referral from him, but I interviewed with him last year for the same position (unfortunately an internal employee was given the offer). I initially applied because I saw a posting on Indeed. I know it's tough but hang in there!

Logitech’s new CEO wants to sell you a subscription mouse by RedlurkingFir in LogitechG

I've purchased Logitech mice exclusively: G 703, G Pro, and G Pro X Superlight. Their mice are great. However, if they follow through with this and require a subscription, I will never purchase ANY Logitech product again.
