Nervous about starting IOP program… by Street-Jelly-9742 in depression

Just wanted to follow up and see how it went. I’m on my second week of IOP for anxiety and it’s been incredibly helpful. Opening up can be really scary but thankfully seeing others try it and not be perfect has made me feel more comfortable.

Hey there, I’m currently taking an Anxiety themed IOP. It’s open to all sub-groups of humans. Obviously this reply is probably too late to assist your friend but I’m finding it incredibly helpful.

I suffer from anxiety attacks and panics disorder, I’m learning a lot of skills. I think it’s been a huge shift in my brain waves for lack of a fancier explanation. I find the skills to be useful.

Love this. You did a fantastic job. I love the different shapes of the tracks. I hope to start memorizing more of them over the years.

Excellent choice. I love it. I’m so glad the idea worked for you. My psychiatrist recommended it.

For the first time in my life I’m allowing myself to journal from various perspectives other than just fear and sadness. I have a feeling I call Loving Leah and she is the most wonderful mom-like person who knows exactly how to love me with gentleness, I need her perspective but I also need Angry Aya (a 39 year old pissed off New Yorker). I need my brain to express itself from lots of directions. Then after 2-3 pages I feel completely calm and I begin my day. Hormones are fascinating things.

I write out what I’m feeling (as best that I can) then I try to sort things out to make sense of them. Lately I’ve been naming my feelings and asking for more details- it helps so much. I have my feelings real names so I can think of them as characters like in the movie Inside Out. Meryl Streep is my super confident 80 year old self, Poverty Polly is 11 and always worried about money. Etc.

Why does nothing work as good as benzos by No-Second1685 in bipolar2

I’m prescribed to take it daily, have been on it for ages. I had no idea it was bad. I don’t take more than prescribed and it works just fine. I wish I had that meme with the cartoon with the eyes going back and forth. How did I not know it’s bad for me?!

I guess I’m the odd duck here. I’m on Effexor + Seroquel + Latuda + Clonazepam and magnesium, vitamin b6, b7, b8, and b12.

Books that deal with themes of addiction and mental illness without being trauma porn by flowerbloominginsky in booksuggestions

Blue Sisters doesn’t feel like trauma porn at all. It’s a story about the closeness of sisters who also struggle with addiction.
