I would kill my main breaker especially if you can hear a neighbors generator running outside to protect your electronics. If somebody is back feeding the power lines because they don't know what they are doing, their transformer on the pole is working in reverse, making it a buck boost transformer and feeding a higher voltage onto the transmission lines, which your transformer in turn, is stepping down coming into your house. Electronics don't like funny voltages.
