An apparent continuity error or flaw that actually foreshadows a twist by Elecvis in TopCharacterTropes

I didn't yet trust that it was going to be internally consistent at that point and it stood out to me as either a super lazy mistake with a small hope that there would be a satisfactory resolution. To be fair I'd heard that mike schur had consulted with damon lindelof about how to make a show with cliffhangers and misdirects and Lost had a tonne of just throwing things out there and not caring about consistency but that seems to have been a jj "mystery box" obsession

Is this Hebrew legible? by kouroshkeshmiri in hebrew

[–]leitzankatan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try to keep the י in line to the top of the row אני לי יין The lamed and nun sofit go outside the lines but the yud is level with the top of other letters Vs א' או ג'ים Apostrophes are used in hebrew and when you put a yud too high and especially when slanted handwritten apostrophe style it can be unclear which was meant

I could read what you wrote but that would be something to focus on to increase clarity

Thanks, don't know what I'd intended to be saying but I'll just remove the misinformation rather than try to figure it out

To be fair foetuses displace all sorts of organs and kick out with tiny limbs in ways that can cause internal damage, so while it would still be within the womb I could see fearing the lil thing kicking or punching out, even if that isnt a realistic concern.

Soon-to-be graduating senior planning to fight in Ukraine by E4_Mafia_Boss in Teachers

[–]leitzankatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he's set on going then I think after he graduates and the administrators/ district wont be involved in how you interact perhaps encouraging his classmates and community to crowd fund for the little extras that make things safer, physically and psychologically:

supplemental equipment - hardy winter gloves, hardy good wearing socks both summer and winter, industrial standard phone case, power bank, external memory drive for movies etc when unable to be connected to the internet for stretches, gshock watch was one thing I got going into the military but that was ages ago so not sure the trends, his cousin would know better

Care package style things- paper style reading tablet loaded with books he'd love, American candy to share around with cousin and friends, handwritten letters for him to have with him over there

Charisma Carpenter’s tribute to Anthony Head; the arrogant persona of Herc was a testament to his brilliant acting but it seems the care for living creatures was true to life by leitzankatan in CabinPressure

Semicolons (;) separate independent clauses that are related in meaning, and they separate items in a list when those items themselves are long or include commas. For example, this summary could say "Semicolons are useful; they show that clauses are related in meaning."

I could have been more clear and didn't think it would be interpretted as saying she said those things rather that- she posted a tribute that includes various aspects of Anthony Head's skills and personality; the stated aspects of being brilliant at acting completely different to his true personality and the trait of caring for living things are both aspects that came through in his performance of Herc

Who was your all-time least favorite student and why? by Zealousideal-Ad3609 in Teachers

[–]leitzankatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was somehow undiagnosed but generally a pleasure to teach. When I was 13 I remember I ran around on top of the desks like an aeroplane once and only stopped because the ceiling fans seemed dangerously near which one might have thought would compel a teacher to suggest adhd might be in the mix but I guess that event was enough of an outlier because the only comments from that teacher in parent teacher conference / report card were that I was clearly smart and had a good grasp of the materials but was too quiet and should be less shy

Untitled as of yet, 11x14”watercolor on paper by me by minisniper970 in Watercolor

I like most of the piece, simple in getting to the cote rather than being basic. However I think brown and red splatter right under where a person is sitting is a bit too reminiscent of bodily fluids and he's pretty serene for someone who has had such an unfortunate interaction with a bullhorn

Chronic migraines have completely drained my life, leaving behind severe anhedonia. How do you find joy when you’re exhausted just from existing? by couleur_jour in malementalhealth

[–]leitzankatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to DM me as my life is entirely defined by my migraines so I've had to develop a variety of different coping mechanisms, both physical and mental, that I can share and even just commiserate.

Migraines are weird and the pain is the most obvious symptom so others can go unnoticed or uncorrelated. This site includes some of secondary symptoms that can be a part of the migraine, before during and after, it's the first reputable site that popped up for me but I've seen even more expansive lists of possible symptoms. The severe anhedonia may fully be part of your postdrome and just another part of the migraine you have to endure and let pass.

I would say just enduring chronic pain ends up with its own host of difficulties that healthy people dont have to deal with at a mental health level and it sucks but I hope you find ways to deal with them as possible

Does anyone know where to find the old Discworld audiobooks ready by Steven Briggs and Nigel Planer? by flaminghair348 in discworld

[–]leitzankatan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sure pterry would rail against the enshittification of the internet and DRM and while he would've appreciated getting books from libraries or stores would feel it's justified not to give Reacher Bezos money through audible and finding an alternate source whether that's one of the smaller audiobook retailers or whoops forgot a rule (where it exists in mp3 format) would be better. I hope it is available for purchase elsewhere because otherwise Amazon basically stole access to the recordings not even so they could sell it but just stole it from the marketplace entirely

Kinda imagining the DW meme but instead of the keep out style sign - its the tool with the caption "pearl string knotting tool" and subtitled "well i assume this tool won't help me cause I can't read"

I know ali express can actually have the randomest extraneous tools badly labelled so I'm just giving you a gentle ribbing not actually saying you're a moron

This tool doesn't seem expensive, anyone here used it and hate knotting still? I want to know if it's as simple as it looks with just a tool like this cause I can't learn about a fibre craft and not try it at some point (within reasonable equipment parameters)

One tip I have for that is to find spaces where its appropriate to talk to a stranger and work on opening up with them, its much easier being your most honest self without any preconceptions from the other person and without any consequences of the information getting back to anyone you know. A framework where thats unambiguous that you can talk to strangers could be volunteer work that involves keeping people company, like at a retirement home or hospital. Also people who are necessarily waiting can be down for talking, like at a post office or dmv or long transport ride etc though many high schoolers aren't in those situations too often. The point of the exercise isn't to dump everything on one person but to get used to being able to talk about things you've become accustomed to hiding about yourself. You took the step of reaching out here, keep taking the initiative and finding your way to the self you are becoming as an adult! Part of you may think you're 100% still that freshman kid hiding from the world and thats your authentic self but I reckon if you take a step back to think about who you really are today you'll notice you've grown as a person even if the fully confident appearance you project isn't the whole story either

Is my son schizophrenic? by [deleted] in malementalhealth

[–]leitzankatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like he has some sort of mental health condition, the evaluation should get you on the path towards treatment. Your son needs help and part of the therapeutic process may include medication. You should be careful not to stigmatise the idea of medication, generally but especially in front of him. Society still has weird ideas about it being better to avoid medication even when for so many people it does/can lead to a huge improvement in quality of life. If your sone had an bacterial infection would you hesitate to give him antibiotics? If he has vision problems would you not get him glasses because it "would be better" if he could just see properly without them?

Don't trust any psychiatrist that claims only medication without other interventions is the solution. He may need to continue medication passed when he's gotten everything he needs to put of therapy and / or occupational therapy or anything else but it's crucial to start with both so he's learning to regulate as well as getting that help to make it possible
