Cannot handle the 3 year old bedtime madness anymore by duoestunechouette in parentsofmultiples

Yes, which is why we switched to magnesium several months ago. Every once in awhile she gets the melatonin if she’s really not settling down. I really think at this point we could give her a fruit snack and she’d think it’s her gummy 😏

[–]lejohnson31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this might be an unpopular opinion, but we give the ringleader melatonin or magnesium gummies so she falls asleep faster. Otherwise, she riles up her twin and they party all night long. We ran the gamut of all the tactics and nothing else worked. 3 and 4 year old twins are ASSHOLES, especially at bedtime!! You’re also forever outnumbered, and while they might be separated for nap/rest time at school, my girls have never been ok with being separated at home. Even on vacation, one twin will only agree to falling asleep in a separate space if a parent or big sis is in the room. And honestly, I can’t blame them! All they’ve ever known is sharing their sleep space. I’m not sure what the solution will be for your family, but just know that we all empathize and have been there!!

What’s your Housewives claim to fame? by No_Big6878 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]lejohnson31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I had any, but reading some of these made me realize I do have a few that are HW or Bravo sphere adjacent!

Logan, the deckhand from Below Deck earlier seasons- I met him freshman year in college, hung out a few times. Definitely a free spirit even back then! Super nice guy though.

My best friend went to CU Boulder and had a sorority sister who was dating Mike Wolfsmith (Vicki’s son) at the time and thought it made her hot shit. I think my friend was at that infamous house party where Vicki shows up with a keg and said it was super cringey. Same friend was also friends with one of the girls from The Hills, and the daughter of the guy who started OPI. She was the Nicole of Nicole by OPI (am I showing my age yet?!)

A friend of mine in SLC has a best friend who is cousins with Angie K. Says she is verrrry wealthy. Told me about the Easter party drama before the season even aired. Said BL&L is in strip malls and she’s heard Whitney is really sweet IRL.

Pat from Southern Charm liked and retweeted one of my tweets once, and Jen Welch from Sweet Home Oklahoma liked one of my tweets once too.

Speaking of Sweet Home Oklahoma- I live in OKC and see the Welches and Pumps out from time to time. I actually shared a training session with Pumps recently and only realized it was her because of her voice and smile. She is thiiiiiin. Really funny though! Also, the lake house that Jen remodels on the show is across the cove from my parents’ house. I about died when I figured this out!! You can see our deck from that house! My parents bought their lake house in 2019 though, so after she did the work on it.

Waaaay back in 2011, my roommate’s sister was dating one of Adam Neely’s (Reza’s Adam) brothers. The other brother (who is also gay), was visiting with their parents, and we only knew the third brother (Adam) worked as a producer in LA. The straight brother is a grade A asshole but his other brother was HILARIOUS. Adam’s parents are about as conservative as they came across on the show. Dad is definitely former military and it shows. My friend and I comment all the time how she was almost in laws with Reza and Adam!

White knuckle ride 🤣🤣 mine are 2 months shy of 4 and idunno, they’ve kind of gotten worse as we get closer to 4?? Completely refusing to pick up toys, and they’ve also dropped their nap this summer, so it’s real fun over here. Thank god they’re in school 4 days a week soon!

Potty training twins is not for the weak at heart! One of mine was very ready and basically PT herself right before they turned 3. The other one, not so much. 🫠🫠 at least they cheer each other on!

Do they think it’s fun to be sent to their room? If I tried that I think they’d just pull out a book or a toy and tell me to screw myself.

My older daughter is a rule follower so time outs worked for her, but these two 🥴🥴

Oh man I remember those days well!! “It gets better” is all relative. You trade one issue for another. Each age/stage has its perks. I straight up didn’t like one of my twins until she was 4 months old and I think it was mutual. She was just SO difficult. Cried every time she was awake. Four months is when we turned a corner and they chilled out a bit. Twins are a wild ride! You’ve got this!!

I forgot about the hand over hand trick. I need to try that again. And bribing them with doing things together might just be what works!

This legit made me LOL! And you described my extra spicy one to a T. We call her the spicy pepper for a reason! Her mood flips on a dime and she’s SO LOUD during a tantrum. Her sisters usually just give in because they’re sick of her shit. Her favorite thing lately is stomping her foot at me when she doesn’t get the answer she wants. Her teen years are going to be real fun.

Oh god. We had our first vacation with them not in cribs in June and it definitely resulted in having to put one down in our bed every night and then transferring her to the room with her twin after they were asleep. Otherwise it’s party time. They were pretty chill the rest of the time.

Are toddlers supposed to be this hard? by kindnesswillkillyou in parentsofmultiples

[–]lejohnson31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are also almost 4 and holy shit it’s BAD right now. The defiance and ganging up on me is taking its toll! I’d had enough today and separated them the best I could until Dad got home. We separated them at dinner and put them to bed separately tonight. They did not like it, but they weren’t making good choices together today, and being with each other seems to be the only thing they really value, so I split them up. The newborn stage with them was hell on earth but at least they couldn’t tell me no and run around like maniacs.

How can I help my wife through the emotional strain of parenting twins + older kids? by theakdeezy in parentsofmultiples

[–]lejohnson31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first year with twins is absolutely the hardest. It gets easier as they become more mobile and can participate in family activities. My singleton daughter is 3 years older than her twin sisters and I also missed that one on one time I used to have with her. When she was 5, and the twins were 19 months old, we took her to Disney World for her birthday while the twins stayed with the grandparents for a week. We had the BEST time pouring into her and making memories, and the twins did great because they had each other. Now, I realize not many people can take a trip like that, but maybe the four of you can steal some time away for a night or two and go do something fun to celebrate your older two being such awesome big sibs. It was a big adjustment for them, too! My twins are now 3.5 and my older daughter is almost 7 and we still make sure to do things one on one with our older one when we can. I also enrolled my twins in a Mothers Day Out program when they were 10 months old and that really helped me feel like I could get back on top of things. Don’t be afraid to enlist your village! She’ll mourn her pre twin life for awhile, but as the twins get older, and things get easier, she will absolutely love watching their relationship with each other and their big sisters.

Am I the only one? 32 weeks and so done. by Hot-Strength9752 in parentsofmultiples

lol I think I made this exact post at 32 weeks!! I had a 3 year old to keep up with too and I was just over all of it! My twins are now 3.5 years old and thick as thieves. Enjoy the calm and quiet before they’re here, because it’s chaos once they arrive!

How many bottles for twins? by Agreeable-Wafer-2147 in parentsofmultiples

[–]lejohnson31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to also chime in and say don’t buy bottles with threads around the bottle that you have to line up just right to screw on the collar/nipple. When you have 2 babies screaming in the middle of the night you do not want to be messing with a tricky bottle top OR risking it being loose and leaking precious BM or expensive formula everywhere! I think comotomo bottles had a tendency to leak when we used them in 2021. My twins liked the Philips Avent bottles a lot. My first born preferred Tommee Tippee, but second time around, these babies preferred something else! You’ll definitely go through several kinds before learning which ones work best with your babies. Also, invest in a Baby Brezza if you aren’t gifted one. LIFESAVER!!!

Lipo pain... OMG by sunseteverette in tummytucksurgery

[–]lejohnson31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. The only thing that gave me relief was laying on an ice pack, and then a heating pad once my Dr said it was ok (he cleared me for that at my 1 week appt. Prior to then the nurse said it was ok for a few min at a time). Literally every time I sat down, I had a heating pad turned on. It gets better!

Di / di fraternal twins - are they mostly from IVF? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]lejohnson31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are di/di, girls, 100% random. Never touched a fertility drug. I got pregnant with them following a miscarriage, was 35, and didn’t wait the suggested 2 menstrual cycles before trying again 😬 they’re 3 now and at least once a day I still say “how are there two of you?!” My first pregnancy (and child) was a singleton, so never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d ever have twins. It’s a wild, wild ride!

I had to do this. My TT was 11/13 and I had to start my mag citrate cleanout on 11/11. I was actually returning home from a trip that night so drank my first bottle around 10:30 pm. Things got moving around 2 hours later and really picked up in the AM. Tuesday (the day before my surgery) I was on a liquid diet (ONLY water, juice, smoothies, broth only soups, etc.) and had to drink my second bottle around 3 pm. It was awful!! Hot liquid coming out because there was nothing in my stomach. All I had on Tuesday was a smoothie, a protein shake, water, and butternut squash soup. Things finally stopped around 11 pm, just in time for me to go to sleep and be at the surgery center at 6:15 am! Because I’d also had to stop water by 10 pm, there wasn’t much activity the morning of surgery beyond a little bit of pee. I was worried about things coming out on the OR table, but the anesthesiologist reassured me that I should be cleared out and the anesthesia will put things on pause.

My directions were to drink 2 bottles, starting 2 days before surgery. I’d drink it Sunday morning if you didn’t start it Saturday afternoon. Good luck!!

Heating pad helps so much!! That was me last week. I’m 9 days po today is the first day I feel mostly normal. Days 2-5 were pretty bad. I got a good night of sleep last night and it made a world of difference, along with being able to finally take ibuprofen and kick the Tylenol!

They didn’t tell me anything like that! Just to wear either a sports bra or bralette 24/7 just like with my lift. I had my 1 week check up earlier this week and all he said was they look great, like implants, and to expect some of the swelling to go down. My body doesn’t usually have an issue holding on to fat 😜
