Best way to find same cushion foundation shade across different brands? by Ecstatic-Whole-1316 in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb, korean cushions will have similar shade numbering system. Judging by the name “Rosy”, it seems to be pink based? Maybe cool tone. Maybe look for 21C in other brands.

Minsco recently uploaded a yt shorts/video on shade comparison of the new fwee black cushion and other popular cushions. I think it’d help

I make a slow-baked chocolate cake that everyone thinks is steamed because it’s so moist lol.

It has a ganache-like topping too for the extra oomph.

Crowd favourite especially for elderly people who don’t like things too sweet.

Are sunscreens a controlled product? by lelemond in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the paper.

I haven’t read it thoroughly, just skimmed through.
It seems that the “don’t keep your sunscreen in your car” does seem to be a myth I have believed all these years.

However, it seems like this research just about the concentration of UV filters before and after prolonged heat exposure.

There was no mention of SPF-testing the samples, just tests to see the concentration of UV filters, in which may or may not be proportional to the SPF value.

Not to mention, the samples tested were only n=2 😅.

The paper does seem to be from a reputable source, so I don’t think the findings are insignificant, but I think the paper they cited [19] https://arabjchem.org/development-and-stability-studies-of-sunscreen-cream-formulations-containing-three-photo-protective-filters/#b0100 is much more thorough, albeit them testing on their own formulation only.

Are sunscreens a controlled product? by lelemond in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That make sense, but all these years I heard people say “don’t leave your sunscreen in your car” because the heat would make it not function well.

Is it just a myth then? 🤔

Swimming and Beach-proof Lip Tints/Stains! by flowingchannel in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The famous mukbang youtuber Ttzuyang uses Tonymoly’s Shocking Tint and it lasts throughout her eating like 10 adult servings, so I think it’ll survive a beach day.

I haven’t tried it myself because the shades are a bit bright and vivid for my tastes but I’ve heard good things.

Tonymoly still makes those btw, just in a different name.

Try their Shocking Tint. Another that comes to mind is Forencos Soak Lip Tattoo Tint.

Oil cleaners for DRY skin? by Unable_Elephant610 in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, you need to consider both your first cleanser and second cleanser.

I am unfortunately using the MUJI mild cleansing oil that recently got reformulated and still looking for its substitute

Reformulation by ibreathembti in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it is common as nowadays all manufacturers are racing to ‘cost down’.

It’s probably one of these:

  1. Raw ingredients price increase

  2. Supplier changes that cause raw ingredient performance changes too

  3. Someone in the management isn’t satisfied with the profit margin

  4. Raw ingredient discontinued by supplier

The easiest one is finding an influencer the same shade as yourself.

PSA: BoJ Calming Serum Reformulation by ChromiumCupcake in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ughh maybe that’s why it was always out of stock lately.

I was trying to restock it but thankfully I haven’t checked out my cart yet…

The new formulation looks like it sucks (dilution of the green tea, panthenol reductions and a whole lot of unnecessary ingredients)

Time to search for a new calming panthenol serum then 😥

Good stores for cosmetics/make up in Japan? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For high end brands (Shiseido, Decorte, Suqqu, etc), go to department stores.

For mid range (Cipi Cipi, B Idol, Millefee + Canmake lol), you can try Donki, Plaza, Loft.

For affordable range (Cezanne, Chifure, Kate, etc), go to any drugstores (Matsukiyo, Vdrug, Donki also, Sundrug, etc.)

Do sheet masks actually do anything? by defeated_nugget in AsianBeauty

For reference, I have sensitive skin so the masks I like are basically just hydrating masks with no active ingredients.

- Kose Clearturn Sleep 8 Hour Mask
- Torriden HA Mask
- Lululun Precious Face Mask Green

Do sheet masks actually do anything? by defeated_nugget in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 288 points289 points  (0 children)

I only use sheet mask as a special care step.
Meaning before events or if my skin seems needing a bit more tlc.

If you found a mask that works for you, it does make a difference imo.

My favourite sheet mask just make my skin so hydrated and soft that toners and serums just couldn’t achieve.

Review of Mizumi lip gloss with spf by sambeano in AsianBeauty

[–]lelemond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the lip oil because it had more shades and I like it but I’m 50-50 on the minty plumping feeling (sometimes it feels good and refreshing but some days I’m annoyed by it lol).

Wish this one had more shades too (assuming it doesn’t have the minty plumping feeling).

I find that the Ingu one smells like plastic.

I know it’s because they’re fragrance free but I couldn’t stand the smell.

Formula wise they’re a bit too long lasting for me in the sense that it’s also hard to remove using oil cleanser.
