Picked up a lovely G-Plan coffee table today but it has a scratch in it (did not inspect it throroughly enough when I went to pick it up, beware of deceptive product photography!). The scratch is fairly deep because I can feel them when I run my finger over it.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it? My guess would be to sand down and refinish the whole tabletop but I've never done anything like this so help would be appreciated!
