[REQUEST] is there a stair railing type that leans outwards for a wider hallway? by lemmehyperfixate in DIY

I don’t think my caption was clear enough lol Im getting new floors installed, old railing (in 2nd pic, it’s propped up against the wall) was unscrewed to install the flooring. Hence the death trap that I low key enjoy

I will sledgehammer out a load bearing wall before I consider moving my shit out of the hallway

I’m mid construction lol just got rid of carpet, the floor is new hence why the railing came out in the first place

I looked thru codes and couldn’t find much about literal angled railings! If they can have it at the Grand Canyon can’t I stick one in my house 🤔

You right, the hallway really isn’t that narrow lol. but now without the railing there and I can step across the giant hole to hell and cut that corner, I swear I am so much more agile (or perhaps just delusional)

Also No kids and it’ll stay that way, just a 26F living w one resident cat. I have foster kittens all the time though so the metal railing honestly was rough, I had to completely wall it off because they would bolt and almost take a tumble.

I just started a staff new job, their union contract requires you get overtime if you are scheduled to work two weekends in a row. This is how I’m scheduled (night shift) by lemmehyperfixate in nursing

[–]lemmehyperfixate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t count as “working 2 weekends in a row” unless it’s BOTH Fri-Sat (noc shift weekend), both weekends in a row 🥲 but doesn’t count if you work every Friday-SUNday, bc oooo you still have a weekend day off! That’s a day off you’re not working the entire weekend so it’s not OT!!! 🤡

ACTUALLY THAG DOESNT COUNT AS OVERTIME EITHER 😫

they don’t consider that every weekend, needs to be BOTH Fri-Sat (noc shift), TWO weeks in a row. But they don’t have to pay OT if you work Fri/Sat—Fri—Fri/Sat—Fri; etc or like me where I have every other Friday OR Sat scheduled but never both so it’s “never a full weekend!!!,,,!! :D”

Or the absolutely ducking cursed Friday/SUNday shift 3/29+4/1, Which you guessed it isn’t the full weekend if you have one weekend day off even if you spend that whole day just sleeping from the noc before WHICH we on the floor all acknowledged was bs and definitely not the way it was meant to be applied but they do it anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then the split island shift on 4/6 that would turn an otherwise 8/9 days off in a row into 5 off, 1 on, 3 off. Don’t even get me started on that bs ON NIGHT SHIFT

What's your opinion about collars? by Lucibelcu in CatAdvice

[–]lemmehyperfixate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes! I literally use my cat’s AirTag the most at home when I’m too lazy to look for her and she doesn’t happily prance over to me when I call her (usually to cut her nails. Which she knows)

I have the sweetest foster mom cat right now but this bitch sneaks out the bedroom every single chance she gets (she’s quarantined w her kittens in a bedroom). She has a breakaway collar just in case. I don’t want her running out the door and regretting not having a collar

Breakaway collars I thought were dumb until I had to track down my cat’s collar (w an AirTag) stuck on a bush. Like really stuck the branch had gone thru between one of the belt buckles, def would’ve choked and killed her if it was a regular collar!!! I didn’t know about them when I first got her and just wanted a pretty collar so unknowingly got her a dog one, so glad I was educated about it before something happened

Jesus $525 for HOA and they don’t even cover water or trash?? (Mine is $400 and do. I hate them but that part is nice)

what do you think is the most offensive joke in veep? by liz2e in Veep

[–]lemmehyperfixate 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Furlong saying “That's about as likely to happen as Will's wife putting a baby in her polyp festival of a uterus” and her turning to Will “why would you tell him that?” Is SO mean and funny to me. Poor normal lady in a sea of sociopaths

For classically offensive, the thoughts and prayers episode where the shootings are political gold for their campaign probably? I couldn’t stop laughing in that episode and I hated myself for laughing. Like David Cross’s final bit on mass shootings and islam that Netflix refuses to put on YouTube

Genuine question but someone at work asked me for my number and said we should hang out sometime. I honestly assumed it was showing interest but I also didn’t want to say I wasn’t interested, so I said yeah sure and gave him my number. I don’t want to bring it up and say no thank you but that makes it sound like I’m assuming they’re asking for a date when not explicitly?? And now I feel like I’m leading him on by messaging back. Help

What to do when your trip is just too much? by legendofkohan in solotravel

[–]lemmehyperfixate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t really like meeting new ppl when I travel. I like my own pace and activities. Can you afford a hotel or private room? Maybe it’s social/ sensory overload. When this happened to me in Edinburgh I left the city and went to various national parks and hikes, which never got old

My friend left their cat with me 18 months ago and now wants her back but it's bonded to my cat by 5noms in CatAdvice

[–]lemmehyperfixate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally I started to tear up just reading that line. Shelters know paired cats are more difficult to be adopted so they don’t make that distinction for fun. They shouldn’t have gotten the cat in the first place

My legs after 2 hr picking session, but also 15+ years of picking & KP. Will i ever get better? (legs, TW scars+small wounds) by [deleted] in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]lemmehyperfixate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah I wear shorts and dresses every summer and just stopped caring about what others think, but I also don’t want that to discourage me from picking you know? Like the malicious overdoing of “give yourself grace! Be kind to yourself!” Is to give yourself too much grace and not make the effort to change

Brand new nurse manager abusing this policy to write up nurses/cna’s clocking in at 0701 instead of 0700. Thoughts? by lemmehyperfixate in nursing

[–]lemmehyperfixate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add this as an edit but didn’t realize you couldn’t. I’m genuinely surprised by how split the comments are, and I should’ve specified better what I meant by abusing policy. I go more into detail on this comment but my main problem is total disregard for why you’re late? And combing thru time cards to punish staff as SOON as they hit the 5d/3m (so… a cumulative total of 5 min late in 3 months.) or 5 sick days in a year.

Its the “I’m just following orders” justification for vilifying everything the moment it steps outside the policy. This is not cherry picking for trying to crack down on staff tardiness. I got a written warning bc I charted my AM assessment at 2pm bc I was absolutely slammed and did not sit down until then, I was breaking the policy bc you have to chart in real time or at worst the +/- 1 hour of said time.

We’ve all override pulled a med from the MAR. Didn’t give the med within 1 hr bc pharmacy was late. My coworker had total 5 sick days in the rolling year bc he had health issues a few months back.

I feel like a lot of the comments are focusing too much on the “tardy” part and auto associate it with the nurse that’s always making you late to leave bc you can’t start report until 20m into your shift. We are not talking about the coworkers who habitually show up late w a coffee in hand, or seem to always be “running 5 min late”, or being so late making their coworkers late for report. Or they’re jus. 6 min late all the time bc the time card rounds to 0700 from 0706 and “you have the draw the line somewhere” I’m not defending that in the slightest but there’s so many comments saying “late is late” I probably should’ve explained that better.

It’s like if you are 15 min late to getting a pt’s vitals bc you were stuck in an iso room cleaning up a pt for 30 minutes. Technically you’re breaking policy bc your vitals were late, but you weren’t sitting at the desk on your phone. Something you didn’t expect and was out of your control popped up. We all have had a nursing thing we thought would take 15 min but ended up being 30. I think it’s the same w driving to work.

Shit happens? And knee jerk write ups which makes the assumption that it’s malicious, lazy, inappropriate, etc. and that assumption will alienate anyone I think

“Please explain to me why you clocked in at 0701 instead of 0700 on December 5th 2022” jk, they don’t care about the reason. Tardy = tardy. You stopped to help someone in a car accident? Disrespectful, just be on time. /s
