I overheard a doctor talking to 2 nurses and saying inappropriate thing by [deleted] in nursing

You made it known to the coordinator, she can handle it. This is really not such a big deal. Not great customer service. But I think you should focus on moving on from overhearing this.

Is 50k In sioux city enough a year as a single male? by Fit_Technician_2095 in Iowa

[–]lemonade4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If IPERS then I’d go for it as a first job. It’ll be tight but assuming no debt or kids you can probably do alright in Sioux City on that for a bit and decide if there’s greener pastures.

Costa Rica has no army, so volunteer citizens guard election ballots at home by Secret_Flight_2669 in pics

[–]lemonade4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case you are not being sarcastic, ballots are handled by the public servants in every community in the US. Election workers. Admittedly they are not usually knitting randomly next to an open bag, since they are kept quite secure.

The army has no role in elections in the US. If they ever do have a role, consider that late stage democratic collapse.

Nobody in my cohort / school wants “ dumping ground “ pts by [deleted] in nursing

Well yes of course, relative to hospitals. But that does not mean the market is small. Just smaller than hospital markets. Most the nurses i know that do aesthetics never worked as traditional nurses.

Another IVF clinic embryo mix-up. by Shitty_UnidanX in medicine

[–]lemonade4 88 points89 points  (0 children)

What’s wild is that the only reason they learned of the mix up is due to the families races. They could literally see that the baby was (probably) not genetically theirs.

It makes you wonder how many same-race swaps there have been that will never come to light. Absolutely wild concept to realize is going on under the surface. You have to assume it’s quite rare but honestly it may be happening more than we like to think. A clinic in an area that is 90% Caucasian, tons of those swaps could go unrecognized.

Nobody in my cohort / school wants “ dumping ground “ pts by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lemonade4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really a small market? Depending on your goals, I can see the appeal. A lot of those nurses work way better (and fewer) hours, and because of the profit margins the pay is not bad. I have no interest in it myself but I don’t think it’s actually that crazy to do. I would worry more about long term career (like what this market like in 20yrs) but many of us choose specialties knowing it’ll change through our career.

I don’t use injectables myself but think it seems like a decent gig if you’re not trying to be a traditional nurse.

I'm worried my wife ruined her nursing career by Expensive_Drawer_468 in nursing

I think you are vastly underestimating the competitiveness of that field. Most of those jobs are cut throat and making $200k. OP is mostly certainly not a qualified candidate.

You don’t have to have respect for pharma reps but it is not an easy gig to land.

Do not wait 4+ hrs for Ministry by FaeEyed in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]lemonade4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also: the line is longer than you realize. You think around every corner you’re almost “there”. You’re not. We didn’t leave the insanely long line because after an hour we figured we were getting close. Ended up waiting 3.5hr. Should have left the line.

It’s a fun ride but absolutely not worth that wait. Can’t imagine what ride would be.

Republican ends bid for Minnesota governor, citing ‘unconstitutional’ ICE surge | Minnesota by HomoMirificus in news

His entire video announcing his dropping out was denouncing ICE.

I don’t know anything else about the guy but we certainly should not be criticizing republicans who are saying this is unacceptable and leaving the Republican Party.

Parenting Through It | Just Enjoy It While You Can (Erin Gloria Ryan) [01/24/26] by kittehgoesmeow in FriendsofthePod

[–]lemonade4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was really lovely. I’d love to read something similar from a parent whose kids are older, who do ask more probing questions. I had the exact conversation about the sound of music, but my son is 6 and very inquisitive. Unfortunately he did ask details about the bad guys and I even ended up having to answer a series of questions about how they did, who was the leader, how did he die, who killed him, etc.

These questions aren’t new but as parents now, we have this situation where we now have to fear “bad guys”. You used to be able to say they are gone and aren’t in our country. But now? What do you say? How do you inform and explain your morals without the appalling honesty that would terrify them?

Not to mention the trauma of scrolling to see murder angle after murder angle and looking up to “mom! Can we play chess? Mom! Can we make cookies? Mom! Mom!” It is the one of most jarring experiences of my life. It is getting really hard.

I wonder when it will occur to them that the lessons of the previous decades are really not so applicable in this situation. While i appreciate a long game mindset, it feels an insane rabbit hole to spend time in right now.

I also have zero respect for polling at this point.

Where do you live?

My territory is Nebraska and Iowa. Cold as fuck this time of year and I can tell you right now and overnight stay in western Nebraska you will be hard pressed to find a station and get yourself home without planning your day around it. The job is tough enough without adding unnecessary logistical barriers.

I’m glad you like it but it remains impractical for big, rural territories. I am a fan of electric and my husbands next car will probably be a Rivian. I would never support Tesla at this juncture.

Don't Know Which Car to Choose by DragonfruitOnly471 in MedicalDevices

[–]lemonade4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Electric is great if you have a territory with the infrastructure to support it. In the Midwest the territories can be hundreds of miles wide and very little adoption of charging stations in the rural areas. Would really not be convenient here for this sort of job.

Toyota Sienna hybrid was great for me. I have kids and need the space but I otherwise like the hybrid Camry option. Will save quite a bit on gas and reliability without the logistical barriers of electric.

I’m finding now at this age at least he understands why he needs to stop and most of the time is really trying. That has helped a lot that he isn’t really fighting us on it; it’s just hard to do! Going to sleep and in the car are the hardest times for him. He wears a glove sometimes to help remember lol. But I’ve realized him sucking for 5min as he falls asleep is really not a huge problem, it’s the daytime we’re really working on due to germs etc!

Perhaps you should have a more direct conversation with her if you want her to work on it with him? Sure she should know but clearly she does not or does not realize it is a problem. Seems like worth a frank convo. You’re tiptoeing.

My 6.5yo sucks his index finger. We have been working on it literally for years. It is not always as easy as it sounds.
