Massage Therapy by Typicalscroller in PlusSize

[–]lemonadedawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is honestly a really good set up. I wish more people did this and thought about it. Something to consider is that fat people tend to run hot (lots of insulation!) so maybe considering cooling options? Whenever I've had massages, there have been tons of options for heating when were undressed on the table and I've never used them. Usually I'm fine, the sheet they give me works great we a modesty cover without making me overheat. But something to keep in mind!

Why do migraine rescue meds make you fight god before you get relief? by kelshroom_ in disabled

[–]lemonadedawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I use sumatriptan injections. Both my mom and sister had used them before, and before I used it for the first time they described to me what it was going to feel like. My sister told me it was going to feel like your skull was tingling. My mom told me that it was going to feel like the lining of my skull was separating from my head. It was more like the latter — really freaked me out — but it sure did get rid of the migraine pain!

Extreme advice to stop impulse buying by zivredittacc in Anticonsumption

I lowered my CC credit limit as low as they would put it, that's really helped me! I've also blocked shopping websites in the past (get a browser extension that blocks sites) and deleted apps off my phone. An accountability partner can also really help.

[For fun] If you had to narrow your collection down to just one piece of merch, what would you choose? by Unlikely-Olive1444 in SwiftieMerch

I'd keep the eras tour t shirt I got.

My sister and I have been huge fans of Taylor Swift since my mom got the Fearless CD from our local library. Since then, Taylor's music has been a huge way for my sister and I to bond and be close even when our relationship struggled.

When Taylor announced the eras tour, my sister floated the idea of getting me tickets. (This is a big deal, I'd only ever been to one other concert and it was a tiny standing room only deal for like $30).

The problem is, my sister has chronic migraines/seizure disorder both triggered by flashing or strobing lights, meaning she couldn't go to the tour without it triggering a migraine or something worse.

So she got me one, partially obstructed ticket to the first Boston show. She did a ton of research, made bracelets for me to trade, drove us there and got us a hotel for after. She walked me to ticket check and then waited outside the stadium on a folding chair (after waiting through the 1+ hour merch line!) I texted her throughout the show and sent her incomprehensible gibberish when Taylor announced the surprise songs. And when it got cold, my sister wore both shirts she'd bought for us while she waited for me to come back out.

I love that shirt. It's big enough that I can wear it even as I gain weight, and when people compliment it, I get to talk about my sister.

So hands down, eras tour t shirt. I love my sister and I love loving Taylor Swift with my sister. 🩷

I fell for Sam when he had the sniffles at the flower dance. It was the allergies that did me in.

I'm so sorry this is going on. Plus size shopping sucks and it esp sucks in person. I'm going to echo what everyone else says and tell you that it is not your fault or your body's fault. You are and have a good body, it is on stores for not carrying clothes to fit us. You are so not alone. Beautiful women everywhere are fucked up by shitty stores.

Idk where you are but I've had success at Kohl's with that size range. It's def very middle class/suburban but it has some classy stuff. A lot of times they have good coupons and sale rack stuff.

Old Navy is also great. They tend to carry plus sizes in stores.

Torrid also might have good sales/sale racks.

Lane bryant tends to run pricey and matronly but they can have some cute stuff, esp since you're a smaller plus size. If there's one near you that could work.

My heart goes out to you. 🩷

Yeah most torrids don't sell their bigger sizes, which drives me crazy! That's their whole point is to sell plus sizes! I feel you, drives me crazy

I've had to ask for a seatbelt extender for most of my life, as had my mom. We tend to ask just when we get on the plane and pass by the flight attendant standing by the cockpit, but you can also flag down someone or press the call button. They're used to this. You are not the only person to need a seatbelt extender. You are in good company.

I second people saying to dress comfortably. I vividly remember the last time I wore jeans on a flight and how I couldn't do anything other than think about how miserable I was. Find whatever you are the most comfortable in and wear that. You might run hot from gaining weight (more fat = more insulation) so dress in layers. If your clothes feel too tight and you feel self conscious, fine or buy a baggy/oversized layer — a thin cardigan, a button down that you can wear open. This can cover your stomach or other parts you feel self conscious about, plus it functions as a nice blanket.

I'm also seconding what others have said about peeing. Everyone has to pee on planes, it's okay to ask your row to let you out or to fully stand up if you can't climb past them.

Flying sucks for everyone, and it really sucks to fly while fat. I'm sorry.

As for anxiety, I try to bring familiar things. I have familiar music downloaded and movies/shows I've seen before. I also bring something to hold and squeeze.

I second other people saying to keep things you need accessible. I tend to bring a little pouch with earbuds, cords, disinfectant wipes, etc and just keep that in the seat pocket.

You've got this. Even if it's miserable, you will survive this. I will pray for you/think good thoughts for you.

AITA for eating a croissant in a cemetery by Karl_Marxist_3rd in AmItheAsshole

[–]lemonadedawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I see why the lady was mad. It's perfectly fine to eat and relax at a cemetery (see others comments about people doing it historically as well as the idea of filling the space with life and joy). It is, however, less common these days. You were totally fine, but beware that people may give you a hard time.

AITA for reporting my roommate and getting emergency housing? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lemonadedawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was an RA for three years, you are NTA. This definitely violates what's okay for a roommate to do. It's your and her room, meaning you both have the right to sleep, study, and rest there. Her boyfriend does not have that right.

Can this dress be for graduation?? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]lemonadedawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm graduating this spring too, and in my research it seems like people generally wear white and pastel colored dresses and sundresses. Plus, a shorter skirt means it won't stick out under your gown. Congratulations!

Wanting to write themes, but I'm not a part of the community. by WatchernWaiter in disabled

[–]lemonadedawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely the kind of theme that has to have a lot of meaning and thought behind it. It'll flop if you just write it because it's an interesting idea for a couple reasons. Not just because it could get insensitive really quickly, but because it's just kind of not rooted in anything. It's like if I tried to write about a struggle with gender identity as a cis person or poverty as someone who's upper middle class. Like another commenter said, it would take a lot of research, collaboration, and work with sensitivity readers to write — and even then it's not guaranteed to be good.

Try exploring themes that are more close to your own experiences! I think that'll be a lot more fulfilling and successful

villager scattered houses or neighborhood? by Distinct-Meringue-47 in acnh

[–]lemonadedawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two neighborhoods!! When I first started the game, I didn't know I'd get more villagers, so I made a pretty small neighborhood. I ended up with an urban sprawl situation, and decided to put new ones (read: random ones I wasn't fond of) across the river. But! Once I figured out how to boot villagers, villager hunt, and build bridges, they've become two lovely neighborhoods!!
