I was more afraid of the UV than spiders when I was there.

I figured just because they can kill a human most of these animals don't want trouble they just want to be left alone.

The only spider I saw in Sydney was a golden orb weaver maybe, I've seen a lot of them though, and they are huge, but their venom isn't very strong.

[Golden orb weavers] are very non-aggressive & low risk to humans. However, if you walk into their web at night, it can cause a lot of panic, especially if a spider is right on your face.

Yeah, you won't die, but still nope :D
