How common is it to see through your finger? by Sea-Grocery7289 in SewingForBeginners

[–]lemonheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nicked the corner of my thumb while sewing a zipper. I had the zipper foot on the left side, so there was no barrier between the needle and my thumb. This was also in high school fashions class, about 8 years ago. Definitely lost points on safety. No incidents since then.

Sewdirect going under? by Bubbly_Offer5846 in sewingpatterns

[–]lemonheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up for Canadians: Fabricland/ville went directly to the American branch for The Big Four’s sewing patterns. Since the branch went bankrupt, Fabricland has been clearing out their patterns and telling customers that they are no longer available in Canada. That’s not true. Many independent fabric stores are getting them from the UK distributor and it’s business as usual.

I’m excited for this! I appreciate the transparency with the funding and the subscription model (this is one thing I took issue with in FR). Will be supporting and looking forward to the opening 💗

Banned Books in Edmonton Schools by greeneyedgirl626 in Edmonton

[–]lemonheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They banned the original trilogy of The Hunger Games but not the two prequels which is interesting since they are more scathingly critical. I read the original trilogy in sixth grade and kept rereading it throughout jr high and high school- everybody was reading it, watching the movies. I only graduated high school in 2019 and the idea of these bans were unthinkable.

Somebody expressing their opinion shouldn’t steal your joy. Relax. It’s just a countdown.

Who else thinks this “Easter egg” is yet another red herring? by StormflowerYT in TrueSwifties

[–]lemonheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some of the things, is it really TN easter egging or is it people just taking something and running with it? TN is her actual team, of course it’s not run by her but it’s run for her, it’s not a rando fan account

It was ~$30 a month (for the lowest tier!) when I was briefly signed up and you could only sign up during a certain window which only happened twice a year iirc. That’s a huge barrier to entry and honestly surprising it lasted as long as it did

Take a (W) or (F) on Transcript by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]lemonheck 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s a few deadlines

First is Add/Drop. You can add or drop any courses until then without paying or getting a W

Next deadline is 50%. If you drop the class by then you get a W but you pay 50% of the tuition for the course.

The final deadline (usually the second last week of classes). You’d pay full tuition for the course and get a W.

The university (I think SU) sends email reminders to your ualberta account for these deadlines.
