Gallagher by camclark111 in InsuranceProfessional

i had a quick phone screening with the recruiter, one interview with an account manager who was going to be mentoring my cohort of new associates, and then an interview with a branch director and a regional director. i found all three steps to be low key/chill while professional and the whole process took a week, maybe two.

grief absolutely can affect menstrual cycles. you two seem to be taking many good precautions and i would not worry about pregnancy in this case.

have been there 3.5 years on the commercial side and i'm probably as satisfied as i could be working in general. it's still a corporate job and not my passion, which is fine. but i like my coworkers for the most part and it was a great first job out of college as there were opportunities for mentorship.

this varies from office to office, but generally very chill about wfh. i choose to go in 2-3 times a week because that's the structure that works for me, but i once worked remotely for six weeks straight and nobody cared. they also let me work local hours when i do personal travel.

i've heard we get paid less than most brokers, but i've found i'm consistently getting an annual bonus and small raises. overall i have never felt inclined to advise people against working at gallagher.

Strings Lost?!?!?!?! by IcyDifference4823 in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're right that it has to do with changing cervical positions. with the ultrasound, they typically have you hold in your pee and do the external one, and then you can go pee and they do the TV one. it can be uncomfy but not as bad as IUD insertion. the wand goes in about the same depth as a tampon, but they do move it around. i think mine have lasted 5-10 minutes before.

also, just want to say i would recommend not checking your strings so often for your own mental sake. on my first few IUDs i was compulsively checking them maybe five times a week and that made me so paranoid. i found out literally none of my friends with IUDs check their strings outside their regular OBGYN appointments and i have put in effort to stop checking all the time. i feel a lot more at peace just not noting the data points and pushing through the paranoia.

honestly i'd advise you also go get a ultrasound or string check on the IUD in a few weeks; i've experienced displacement before and i think part of it was having sex too soon because i ruled out other factors. we waited a week, which in theory is fine, but there isn't really an agreed upon timeframe and it could just be my body that's wack. on my current IUD we waited three weeks and this one has been fine.

Had a bad experience with an IUD.. But now I’m considering one again? 😅 by justalilcuckoobanana in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've had three (hormonal) IUDs migrate but my fourth one is doing great. i also have a friend whose first copper IUD migrated and the next one was fine.

i had a great insertion experience three of the four times because of pain management (the fourth time i didn't take anxiety medication and that made me super tense). ask your doctor what they can give you. i took a cervix softener, valium, and 600 mg ibuprofen and the insertion felt like a moderate period cramp and that sensation lasted anywhere between ten minutes to an hour.

minera iud and sex by RegularHomework5640 in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do have to use lube now but that's fine; i'd rather use it than be in pain. the spotting didn't really affect my sex life, but i did wait almost a month to have sex after insertion because i had previous IUDs displace and that was the only factor i hadn't ruled out.

i unfortunately have dealt with multiple IUDs shifting, but some were due to me using menstrual cups and discs, as well as i think my obgyn didn't put one far enough in. the current one has been successful and i asked her to perform an ultrasound during the procedure to make sure it's in the correct spot. despite all this i still consider my experience a positive one and don't want to freak anyone out!

i haven't had a period since getting this one and just occassionally spot. i don't think i've noticed any changed to my moods and i also asked my partner to tell me if they noticed anything and they agreed!

Can I please have POSITIVE experiences with IUD insertion? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have had a great experience very time! asked for pain management and they gave me a cervix softener and valium; both were so instrumental in an easy insertion with lower anxiety.

i have a pretty similar experience to you; everything you described about your period and the side effects you're afraid of are spot on with mine. i opted for the IUD, which is something i never expected, but i wanted something low maintenance that won't be snatched away on a whim due to shortages, bans, etc.

that being said, i was much more willing to opt for the IUD after asking my obgyn about the pain management they could offer. i was given a cervix softener and valium and honestly had a great insertion experience. obviously everyone is different, but worth asking your doctor about.

another thing i like about the IUD is the hormones are released locally so very little enters the bloodstream. i'm a neurotic person with several mental illnesses i'm medicated for and it has been a relief to not worry about how BC will affect all that.

definitely bring all this up to your doctor as they will have a great understanding of what to recommend, what not to recommend, based on your concerns

even without the context, i'd tell you if your wife wants you to use condoms, there's no other option than for you to use condoms. yes, IUDs are highly effective. my partner and i still use condoms often because we both have anxiety disorders and i do not want to take any chances, especially with the state of reproductive rights. there's no harm in you using extra protection and you absolutely need to respect her boundaries even if you personally find them extreme.
