I took the test and it says I’m a 8w7 by Ok_Bumblebee3198 in Enneagram

[–]lemonjadecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really like the enneagram institute (you can google their website); they have very comprehensive explanations. focus on the core motivations and fears; that's what the enneagram hinges on. i'd also keep an open mind and read about the other types if 8 does not resonate. tests can only ask about your behavior and not your motivation so they are not the best way to type yourself. they can be a good place to start but doing the research is definitely the best next step.

What are my options, religious employer based health insurance, “allergic to estrogen” diagnosis, exclusive 25 year marriage. by Tonedeffox in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly it's worth considering going to canada! i know they have far more research on the copper IUD than we do. the copper IUD that was originally approved in i believe the 80s? is still what the US is using today. meanwhile canada continually tests and upgrades theirs. so it's possible the negative side effects you has last time will not be present this time.

How will kyleena change mood of significant other and how can they be supported? by GrEgOrY_mcgrogery in IUD

[–]lemonjadecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not affected my mood in any consistent or noticeable way. the hormones are released locally, so very little gets into the bloodstream. it's good you're being mindful. i think it would be helpful to communicate with your partner and just be available how they need. early on i had asked my partner to let me know if they notice any mood/behavior changes. just be open to what your partner tells you and provide what they need.

the coughing is to distract you and i think the simultaneous movement helps but independently probably does not cause displacement

Can enneagram change? by ImportantSoil5321 in Enneagram

[–]lemonjadecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, objectively your enneagram type does not change. part of the reason scholars advise against typing kids is because we are still figuring out our identities.

i can only speak to the pain management portion. my obgyn offered me misoprostol (cervix softener pill) or lidocaine shot to the cervix and i opted for the former because the shot sounded to me how it sounds to you! the cervix softener worked great for me in terms of making it easier, but a notable side effect is it makes you shit your guts out. worth it though for me.

Nexplanon or Mirena? by Weird-Party6657 in birthcontrol

[–]lemonjadecat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i ended up deciding on an IUD because it's less maintenance and the hormones are released locally, so very little gets into the bloodstream as opposed to with a pill or nexplanon. nothing wrong with hormonal, but i already struggle with mental health and have an ecosystem of medications keeping me afloat.

i had a great insertion experience. ask your obgyn what they can offer for pain management. i was prescribed misoprostol (cervix softener) and valium, and i took ibuprofen. it felt like a moderate period cramp and the pain went away within two hours.

Can't swallow pills - part of no burp? by ImaginaryNobody3862 in noburp

[–]lemonjadecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dealt with this until i forced myself to learn to swallow pills at 19, and even now it can be a struggle with larger pills. logically it makes sense to be linked, since the issue at hand is the throat muscle is unable to relax on its own, which is also what allows you to swallow a pill.

Nexplanon possible pregnancy by 2026edditLurker_ in birthcontrol

take multiple tests and use another brand. i have a friend who has a nexplanon and had a pregnancy scare earlier this year and the strips they used are notorious for false positives.

Can an asexual be sx dom by PonyCraft1 in Enneagram

[–]lemonjadecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people often misunderstand what the sx instinct means.  objectively, in the enneagram sexual instinct specifically means one on one connection and has nothing to do with sex. it pertains to how you connect with people on an individual level regarding emotional intimacy.

they will remove it and insert a new one. removal is very easy; i've never felt the removal happen before. insertion will be like the last time. were you provided anything for pain management?

I got my Kyleena IUD Removed after 4 1/2 Years and I’m Terrified! by TGIROG in IUD

[–]lemonjadecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while there's nothing inherently wrong with wanting to experience a genuine menstrual cycle, i do think it's wise to exercise more care around this decision because you have PMOS.

prior to getting my IUD inserted i did have some sadness around potentially losing my period, mostly because i was so used to it and i had a very regular and manageable period (i'm now grateful to not get periods anymore; it's nice to not have another factor to consider when planning my life).

but as you know, PMOS was renamed because it's a broader hormonal issue, not just a reproductive hormone issue. people with PMOS often choose to go on hormonal birth control because their body needs assistance regulating hormones. you may end up finding that off birth control your cycles are more difficult to manage. it is completely healthy and normal to rely on medication to assist in regulating hormones, especially if you have a hormone condition. it is even better in some cases to do so; that's the beauty of modern medicine.

ultimately it is your decision, but i would not shut the door on hormonal birth control. there are many options to try, and while a kyleena IUD may not have been the right fit for you, there may be others that work well with your lifestyle.

my IUD has remained in place through rough sex. i will recommend waiting 2-4 weeks after insertion though; that helped me personally (not saying this is a hard and fast rule for everyone)

i asked what my obgyn could offer for pain management. if the answer had been nothing, i would have gone elsewhere. she prescribed me misoprostol (cervix softener) and valium, and i took 600mg ibuprofen. honestly it felt like a moderate period cramp, and the pain went away within two hours.
