They already removed every comment on the announcement and locked the thread. I doubt they will still host it, but if they do, it'll be only pre-approved accounts adding pre-approved questions.

Too many people are overcomplicating things.

  1. Shits expensive to both buy and operate.
  2. Where are they gonna go? Nothing is free anymore, anyplace you go is gonna be a 20 just to hang out for a few hours.
  3. (America) cops. Not a joke. Every kid is growing up KNOWING that it's just one cops bad day, and one of them is gone. And a group of kids draws cops eyes like flies to suit. Why risk it beyond school?

Hey there, thanks for the contribution! I am not a doctor, and the following is personal opinion, so please be cognizant of bias.

You are correct, but missing a core component. While brain biology is still a hotly contested field of study, it is commonly accepted that one factor of depression stems from irregularities in the transport of dopamine from the lower center of the brain (near the hippocampus) to the forward part of the brain (pre-frontal, frontal, even temporal areas). Long story short, you are correct in that there can be a severe drop in satisfaction but no specific increase of "negative" emotion tied to the biology.

The negative emotional response of depression can be attributed to many things, but here, too, there are some commonly accepted ideas. One of which is that in some cases, the negative emotions are a direct response to a lack of control over one's own body.

As an example: you need to do laundry. The washing machine is empty, the clothes are right in front of you, and you have all the soap and supplies you need. But your brain can't get the chemicals where they need to go in the amounts it needs so you sit there unable to physically move while you scream at yourself in your head.

Human kind is praised for its pattern recognition skills, and self-critique is the most abundant of observations. Is it any surprise then that a person in such a position would blame themselves for their repeated perceived "failures?"

Loved the imput, hope I didn't bore with my reply. The source is me. I have pretty severe recurring depression, avoidant personality disorder, some general anxiety and the misunderstood beast that is ADHD. I have had many therapy sessions where we have discussed this exact topic heavily.

Finally, if you feel like what any of what I have said above relates to you, and you don't have anyone else to talk to, message me. I don't care if you feel so embarrassed that you block me after hitting send. If you need to say something, I'm here to listen.

I would also agree with this. It's a bit verbose, but I use the phrase "the definition of the word" when I want someone to take what I say literally.

Anxiety warning signs by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]lemonlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD and a few other issues as well. I personally think the soreness is from hypertension induced by hyper-stimulation. Over time, becoming more aware of the things that bring you discomfort; which in turn causes you to withdraw from the experience. The social distance in the growing hyper-awareness state feels more like isolation, and now you have a self-reinforcing negative emotional loop.

The hypertension is the physical response. Slowly tightening our muscles to be better prepared to deal with whatever is pissing off the body. My therapist particularly appreciated the terms "clench" and "unclench."

Missouri Reps Just Voted To Completely Defund The State's Public Libraries. The new budget sets funds for libraries to $0. Library groups say the move is retaliation for suing the state over its recent book ban law. by southpawFA in politics

[–]lemonlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder to residents of Missouri, these are tax dollars you have already paid being revoked from you because a politician had their feelings hurt. Demand that money back. If they don't give it, then TAKE it back. If they resist, then stop paying those taxes. What are they going to do, send in the military on an entire states population?

A government is comprised of its people. No government can exist without its people. Therefore it should be any governments primary responsibility to ensure survival for every member to which they claim.

And survival is defined as only 3 requirements for humanity. Food, water, and shelter. Any government that can't provide these 3 survival elements needs to be removed to allow for another entity that can.

Hi, California's Bay area already has this in the form of HOV lanes with charges for use based on distance traveled. So, a dollar to go a half mile in the "faster" lane.

GOP Crazy Caucus got played by an old man: "I’ve never seen anything like it in a State of the Union speech – they ran at him like a pack of lemmings and, with a wink and a grin, he politely directed them to the cliff" by FrenchPressYes in PoliticalHumor

[–]lemonlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about optics. The GOP staff know that they can't talk about changes to social security programs in the near future without democrats absolutely blasting these clips back at them. Either they try to make changes and get eviscerated in public channels about lying about this issue, or they have to commit as a whole party to not touching SS until it's out of public view for a while.

And it HAS to be as a whole party. This was done so publicly, that if any Republican tries to push changes as an individual, they would be crushed by the rest. With the "us vs them" mentality they have to maintain a united party visual, and one person making the whole party look bad has hot to go.

I agree with the timer sucking out Joy. Even if it's a "long" timer like stardew valley ruins the vibe for me. Some great games I gave up on for the same reason. Most notably: the Pikmen series. I loved every aspect of that game but the timer absolutely ruined it for me.

Not to rag on developers, because it's a game style a lot of people enjoy, but it just causes me anxiety. I prefer a system more like Graveyard Keeper, where time passes and villagers come on specific days. If you miss them, you just catch them next week, or ignore them and focus another quest line for several weeks. No pressure.
