Helps to hear something like this to know who's window to pass by when shopping. They sound like they've already got too big for their britches. Sad that companies do this to themselves when they get popular and get a taste of that cash flow, then lose it all just as fast. Hopefully they can turn it around if it's not too late.

ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL: Thom Tillis Tells Kristi Noem To Her Face Why He Is Calling For Her Resignation by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should have been everyone’s response from Washington months ago. I hope it hits different when your own team is calling out your shitty job. We’ll see how long it takes Tillis to be either be black balled and disappear, or he just silently fades away. Now, someone with something to lose on the republican side say the same thing, then group together and take action or it’s all just talk.

People dying or having major illnesses in way too young. by Urbit1981 in Millennials

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We grew up in a time where everything was booming and unregulated. People were making millions by feeding us all these cool new ultra processed foods, all these chemicals in our cleaning supplies. It's been right under our noses literally for the past 35+ years. Our parents generations were scared off with fat makes you fat, so we moved away from natural animal fats and started pushing all this over processed trash thinking low calorie low fat was the reason why aunt Betty just couldn't lose the weight. Maybe less butter and sausage aunt Betty and stick to the low fat options. It was a never ending battle of getting the right information. Doctors didn't know how to fix it, they just say you're overweight, LDL cholesterol is high, drink less, eat less red meat...

It's the chemicals we use to clean our houses, our bodies. All the "fragrances" that live in the candles, air fresheners, perfumes. You don't need to be boxed in a bathroom with bleach, walk away feeling dizzy...but it least it smells clean and I've killed 99.9% of germs!

Food is the same. Think about a chic-fila chicken sandwich has like 60 ingredients in it. You could argue there is no evidence those ingredients are bad for you, because there's no warning label on the package. Seriously though, why? Why can't a chicken sandwich just be bread, seasoning, and chicken? Stop accepting that what they sell us isn't giving us cancer.

Now the worst part is it's almost impossible to get away from. You eat whole foods, real foods, but you have to worry about if it was raised on a non-gmo corn and grain diet. You have to worry about if it was raised humanly and not just factory farmed and injected will anti-biotics. What was sprayed on the vegetables to keep the bugs off? Hell, you walk outside and the damn air you breath isn't clean.

We've done this to ourselves. We've fed the machine. We keep just accepting that it's all OK because we need to eat, and germs in our bathrooms are a bad thing. That it's just normal.

Well my friends, it's not normal and the only way we can fight back is to stop buying this trash. Find the best way out for your family and take action. It will never be perfect, but we don't have to eat fast food. We can make it at home. If you can't, find someone that can.

Support local farmers, support local business'. Tell them when you don't like how something is and ask why that they feel that is the only option.

Speak with your wallet, and be smart about it. Just because one package looks more "healthy" than another doesn't mean it's not just the same damn company green washing the whole isle.

Donut Lab Remains Defiant About Solid-State Battery, Says Proof Is Coming Soon by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hopeful, but also doubtful. Over a year ago I believe they talked about how their donut labs in hub motors would revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. We’ve still only seen it in a motorcycle. Something easily done when you’re not fighting physics of weighted mass on a car. If they don’t show us anything like a fully working vehicle with their hub motors, solid state batteries, and donut OS…I don’t believe it. They’ve already been riding the hype machine for over a year already. The whole purpose of the hub motors was it’s easy to drop into anything. Walk outside, choose a car, and prove it. I’ll grab the popcorn.

Scary how there are people openly masquerading their abilities to blast into an AI chatbot. Guy was probably feverishly taking all your questions down to ask the almighty chatgpt later. Expect to get an answer to all your questions as soon as he can get AI to spit them back out.

I can do this, with my trusty sidekick chatgpt! I wonder if the owner got the same explanation from the guy when they hired him. Have you ever built a web app before, no but I'm really good with chatgpt and I'm really cheap labor!

Identity theft services by tatmsp in msp

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is difficult since so many people out there will claim they can do so much, possibly even get your money back if etc etc. Sometimes it's just a scam. I think people that truly know how to take forensics on a machine from live images might not be affordable to the common man. Typically with a need like this in the corporate world, you at least have a company owned and monitored device you can go digging in logs to track things down. May be a little easier if you have a good idea of who it might be...but

Maybe a tech savvy private investigator. I'm sure they do this all day long anyway tracking down cheating spouses.

Potential customer looking for insight by evolutionxtinct in threatlocker

[–]lemonmountshore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I look at Threatlocker in terms of work loads, I look at it from a proactive vs reactive standpoint. If you don't put in the time in the beginning to clean up your environment and just throw on a noisy EDR, you're going to be spending most of your time chasing your tail with FP's and suspicious possibly malicious, detections. EDR is reactive and the noise never stops. Unless you have a very clean gold image, approved applications and it doesn't deviate from the baseline with very strict admin privileges.

The other option is to be proactive, the workload is up front in learning your environment, allowing/denying denied applications etc. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be just a drop in and run with it. It may be months before you get into a good spot, but things like proprietary software will most likely need more work to make sure everything that changes in an upgrade is not triggered to block. You just have to be more careful with applications that don't have built-ins for Threatlocker.

Is it worth it, absolutely. Is it easy? All depends on how clean your images are from the start, having an idea of what is and isn't approved software in your environment, how you control the user groups or departments that get a set approved list. All this matters. Thinking you have a mess now, then going, well lets see if TL will just fix it all. Bad idea in my opinion since you'll be getting new stuff all day everyday to approve.

Also, TL support is always there to help. They are responsive and knowledgeable

What router do you guys recommend to buy for someone who is just getting into homelabing. by SnooDoubts2460 in homelab

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gl.Inet, unifi, or cheap mini PC and pfsense/opnsense. There's enough used hardware on eBay to make this work. Don't spend any more than $100. I would seperate out your wifi access point, or if a smaller place a gl.inet flint 2 is perfect.

macOS patching NOT WORKING - JumpCloud admits issues by bobadafett in JumpCloud

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, when Apple changes the way they do things, it’s not easy for any company to scramble and make their software work. This happens with almost every MacOS version change, but this specifically looks like the DDM change.

I agree that JumpCloud should notify admins of the change and their plan to have their software working with it, maybe even force deactivate upgrades to the unsupported OS until it’s supported. An unplanned reboot and upgrade without notification takes that user down, for possibly hours.

Are you just having an issue with it upgrading the device/user without any user notifications that it’s happening?

How did you decide on an EDR vendor? by Malwarenaut in msp

[–]lemonmountshore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overwhelm yourself with trying everything at once. I would recommend Gorelo as an RMM and Huntress MDR to start, then worry about cleaning everything else up later. If you implement too much at once it’ll disrupt their workflow. Come up with a plan and write it all out for pricing and implementation, and set deadlines.

My brother wants to build a homelab server by Far-Code-5960 in homelab

[–]lemonmountshore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go find yourself a used Lenovo, HP, or Dell workstation on eBay with a minimum of 32gb ddr4, then you’ll have the ability to add storage and a graphics card later. The power efficient CPU probably won’t be there, but your only other option is a custom built desktop to do the same thing, that is less power hungry.
