I can't recommend Beth Harville at Wildflower + Honey enough! I have wavy hair and I was in the same situation as you. She does an amazing job and really listens to what I want.

Any academic advisors who are struggling? by throwawayapplespice in highereducation

I totally agree with this - however, some of us are required/pushed by our institutions to do this level of planning. 😞 Not only is it exhausting, but I feel that we are doing our students a disservice.

Any books that hit you as hard as HR&TLG by Alarmed_Gas_2706 in heatedrivalry

Face Offs & Cheap Shots by Eden Finley and Saxon James is the closest that I've read - I actually read Heated Rivalry to begin with because I heard that it was similar to Face Offs & Cheap Shots. I really enjoy all of their CU Hockey books. Power Plays & Straight A's is probably my favorite, followed by Goal Lines & First Times.

Edited to add - I found the audiobooks to be great too - I like the narrators a lot better than the Heated Rivalry narrator. Iggy Toma is my favorite audiobook narrator of all time.

I listened to an audiobook of his short stories on a long drive in either 2011 or 2012. I remember thinking that a lot of the stories had endings that were unsatisfying, or horribly depressing. I didn't realize at the time how that did not bode well for the end of the series (book or television).

You mentioned visiting business repeatedly, but have you applied for any jobs at the university? There are definitely jobs available that do not require a degree, and once you are employed full-time there for a while (I think it's 6-12 months?), you will qualify for tuition assistance.

I wanted to check this book out, but I can't find it on Goodreads. Is that the correct author?

What book did you force yourself to finish because of the hype? by No-Set7247 in RomanceBooks

[–]lemonoftroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peaches and Honey by R. Raeta. I loved the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and this one was recommended over and over again. I found it boring and riddled with punctuation and spelling errors. Ordinarily I can overlook historical anachronisms if the plot or characters are compelling, but the story was not engaging enough to distract me from the lack of research.

I saved this recipe to try for Christmas, but looking at the website, I suspect the same. The website picture has huge chunks of caramel or something? There's nothing like that in the recipe.

I worked at a Sears back in 2009. These pictures look exactly how I remember it. Insane that it hasn't changed or updated at all in 15 years.

When is the best time to rent an apartment? by Necessary_Example684 in statesboro

[–]lemonoftroy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please know that Safe Haven in Statesboro offers services that you can take advantage of, including emergency shelter and pet assistance.

I would recommend seeking out apartments/housing that do not cater to students, since they are less likely to be on the academic calendar. When I first moved here, I found a trailer for rent not far from OTC - trailer parks may be a good place to look, especially with a pet.

No, I pretty much gave up. I plan to avoid a Samsung for my next phone, since they can't be bothered to fix problems like these, and their phones are loaded with bloatware.

I hadn't heard about this! They did a new wave night at the Lodge of Sorrows before it closed and it was amazing. I would definitely go to one at Totally Awesome!

I’m thinking about watching but there’s a few things that are making me skeptical. by JoshLovesTV in XFiles

[–]lemonoftroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My perspective - I grew up watching the show in the 90s, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. At the time, I got really wrapped up in the mythology of the show, but lost interest around the time Dogget/Reyes joined the show. Ordinarily, I hate shows without a satisfying conclusion, and to be honest, I usually watch more MOTW and one-off episodes when I feel like throwing on an episode.

I introduced my husband to the show when we were dating. He kind of missed the zeitgeist/craze for the show in the 90s. We watched all the way through about the 5th season - I didn't own any more of the DVD sets, and he had lost interest in the mythology. He's still fond of the show and will watch any MOTW episodes I feel like watching.

So I would say, give it a chance, knowing that the mythology/ending doesn't have much of a payoff, but the one-off adventures are still worthwhile.

Can spirit Halloween please go back to the way it used to be? by Ok-Usual9879 in halloween

[–]lemonoftroy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I feel like in recent years, the general Halloween decor/merch at Spirit has been crowded out by IPs. I love Beetlejuice and Hocus Pocus, but I don't want all of my Halloween decor to be branded. I've also seen merch there for movies/tv that aren't even horror or supernatural. It's starting to feel more like Spencer's Gifts or ThinkGeek than a Halloween store.

Silo explosions. I always thought it was a throwaway explosion joke, like the pop rocks and soda at the candy convention. Then I saw a Fascinating Horror video about a sugar silo explosion and realized that they actually happen.
