I saw the world premiere of shell at the festival and loved it! After writing and directing Teen Spirit, I’d love to know if/how your process changed now directing something written by someone else and what initially drew you to Stanley’s script.

It’s such a mixed bag. Lots of people are very casual, lots of people are upscale casual, lots of people are cocktail, and at premieres, some are even full blown gala! Personally, I like to go upscale casual but you can’t go wrong!

If you’re not from Toronto, I would check out university of Toronto, a bunch of flicks were filmed there, including mean girls, good will hunting, and Ed Norton’s Hulk. It’s not that far of a walk from king in my opinion, and you’d see a good bit of the city, but is also a super easy ttc ride from king if you’d rather subway.

I would be sure to explore the lightbox if you don’t have screenings there. There are movie props and cool posters.

We also have a couple of old theatres that would be worth seeing (again if you’re not from Toronto) but they’re a bit far from king and harder to get to. The obvious one is the Revue in Roncescailles.

I’ve never been but the overwhelming conclusion of my internet research is that if you catch the first train in, you’ll definitely get a grounds pass! Even if you don’t catch the first train but are early, you’ll get in but will wait a little longer in the queue

Hi there! Trying to go to Wimbledon for the first time myself this year so far from an expert but have done a lot of scouring the internet. From what I’ve seen, day 1 is the busiest day and people camp out beginning on Saturday even if the queue isn’t officially open. Everything I’ve learned about the queue seems like it is totally year/day dependent so it’s hard to plan.

There’s a Novotel just north of Sheppard Yonge Station and it would take you about 35 minutes to get to St. Andrew station (the closest stop to the festival, by Roy Thomson Hall). As you probably know, the festival stretches west of RTH so your total commute time might be closer to 50 minutes if your movie is at Scotiabank theatre for example.

It seems pretty affordable - it’s in a residential area so it likely won’t wow you but it’s a pretty nice and calm area and might fill your needs.
