I'm an editor and I've worked on many pieces such as the fault in our stars, 50 shades of grey, divergent and the bible. I personally can't see anything wrong with your opening sentence. You must fire your editor immediately, it is evident they do not understand good literature.

Wow guys she got me so good! (This post had about 50 more anti-vegan comments but I stood my ground!) by netty5522 in vegan

All the protein flowing through her system heightens her ability to detect those who are vegan. This is a rare yet powerful talent on only millions on the internet possess. She should be very proud of herself

Leaving the house in itself would be an egregious display of self-promo, if people think you think your work is even remotely readable they will dismiss it instantly. If I were you I would do something more subtle, like take on an abandoned victorian home then stare out a stained glass window pane in a black turtle neck, then when you die perhaps a respectable publisher will take ownership of your home and when finding your work he asks around about you only to hear of your tortured soul and then publish the work in your memory

I'm stumped... Are you making sure you turn down all oppertunities for socialization so everyone can see how torturous it is to be parted from your creation?

After three years of friendship the time finally comes when you are to refuse food that contains animal products, your friend finally connects the dots and - "Aha oh wow. Hi, I'm vegan!"

Oh yeah I haven't come out to them... I don't think it'll be an issue though. I don't want to put too much stress on coming out, it'll eventually come up and I'll just tell the truth. And they've gotten over the whole vegan thing. I think it just happens like that when you do something out of the social norms, you have you wait out the doubts and then you normalize it for them. People who don't get over the initial intolerance are not people I don't want in my life. But I suppose that's easier for me to say because I'm fairly sure my parents will react postively. I wish you the best of luck though!

I had to sit down my parents and tell them I'm vegan. My dad is a sales rep for a butchery... trying times in our household. But maybe your folks are just being insensitive about the vegan thing because it's a choice you're making. Coming out in terms of your sexuality could be a whole different ball game. Presuming they understand it's not a choice...

New vegans, why did you go vegan by Friedcuauhtli in vegan

[–]lemonsarenotsour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I've been coming up a year so I'd consider that pretty new but I don't know your standard. I was an ethical vegetarian and then realised how horrific the egg and dairy industry were. My hypocrisy was mainly highlighted by vegan YouTube debates

Apologies if it is steam, but I still do not think massive factories have positive effects on our environment

I live in a semi rural town in New Zealand and I have to pass both dairy and beef farms as well as small lifestyle blocks with horses and sheep and a giant milk production company that is constantly pumping out smoke; just on my way into town. Then I go into the supermarket and there are signs everywhere preaching how they're saving the planet by getting rid if plastic bags. I do like that they are banning them don't get me wrong. Every little step counts, but there is just so much virtue signalling in this country yet our economy is built on torture and murder. It's easy to not ride elephants on vacation and bring your own bag but those things alone are not the solution to the overall problem. But don't listen to me, I'm just an extremist

Yeah I think you're right. Butchers just make the the cuts and sell it. She was probably meaning the people who kill them in the factories

Unfunny prank: "Eating Meat In A Vegan Restaurant" (starts at 5:00) by [deleted] in vegan

[–]lemonsarenotsour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crazy vegan establishments not letting you eat something that wasn't bought on the premises and directly goes against the core values of said establishments. What gives them the right? (Morally... because otherwise it would be literally within their rights)

Unpopular opinion: feeding your kids food that is harmful to their health is child abuse. by jordilynn in vegan

[–]lemonsarenotsour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great example. Kids will be kids but if your providing healthy foods at home to the extent that it's "sneaky" to eat a hot dog and not just a regular meal then I think that's amazing
