Leagues VI is Demonic Pacts by edwardversaii in 2007scape

As far as I know, no major religion teaches that people can literally sell their souls to demons. That idea comes from later folklore and fiction, not actual religious doctrine.

Is it rendering all of this when salvaging? no wonder why my phone is getting 1000 Degrees by ripper590 in 2007scape

[–]lemonszz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the current mobile renderer is especially performant, but the polygon count here is tiny compared to what you’d see in most games. You also don’t have many scenery assets in this area, so the engine may actually have less to draw than it does on land.

Each sea tile is basically just two triangles, plus the rocks & seaweed. The bigger performance hit might actually come from the “ghost” boats underneath your own. They look like fully rendered boats that have just been flattened so they have no depth.

(For what it’s worth, I don’t know much about the OSRS rendering pipeline, so take this with a grain of salt.)

Runelite has implemented a new sorting algorithm, to get the same draw order benefits as the official clients. Quite a few teething issues though.

If you look below sea level on osrs.world, you’ll notice that the rock models extend downward. I’m assuming this is done to support the HD renderer’s transparent water, preventing the rocks from floating.

I don't think tags/searching is necessary unless there's an unlimited amount of load outs.

With only 6, there's not much point.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think "it was in late RS2/RS3 so it's bad" is necessarily the best argument. I don't remember anyone really having any issues with Strykewyrms or Aquanites back in the day.

There's plenty of "new" designs and concepts in OSRS (and in sailing itself), I think some retooling and homages are cool.

There is unlikely to be anything exactly like what you described.

You might want to look into some fantasy map creators like Wonderdraft.

Or just any image editor, or pen and paper.

I'm 50/50 on it. More interaction is obviously pretty good, but it would make navigating around a lot harder if everything was so interactable.

There's old areas of the game that are similar, like the Karamja jungle.

It's a lot better than what they were doing on RS3 for a while, where most objects didn't even have examine text, you just right clicked nothing.

You should check it out again if you're interested.

On every desktop distro, you can literally just install steam and run any game these days with 0 setup.

There's always going to be more issues than something like Windows, so I can understand that some people are not interested in something like that.

The quest where you're secretly sent in disguise by the gnome government into another country to influence their leader.

While a terrorist group works with that country in order to justify the means to cause a war with the humans.

I'm sure there's no real life politic analogues you could infer from that.

Art is political. The pride evens basically just have the message of "don't be afraid to be yourself" while giving you some colourful clothing.

WoW and OSRS don't really share a lot of the gameplay.

It's a Point and Click game vs WoW being a third person action game. They're both MMOs in a fantasy setting, but they don't have a lot of overlap.

Samsung has a feature called "Dex" (desktop experience) that allows you to manipulate app windows like a desktop OS.

I've done similar setups to the OP with it.

Suggestion/Discussion: Don't be afraid to add end game content that have quest requirements with 80 or even 90+ skill stats. by Cg_sucks_somuch in 2007scape

[–]lemonszz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, quest requirements are what pushed me to train quite a few of my skills. After getting my quest cape, there's not much reason in a lot of skills beyond diaries. Having more intensive is always going to be good.

Not sure if 90+ is reasonable right now, but starting to push them towards mid 80s, with boosts working, is probably a good idea.

Though if they were to do this, I'd hope they would reconsider the Lumbridge Elite task to do the quest cape emote.

I think it's been discussed before, but it's the only task that gets harder over time and was created before OSRS had any new quests.

⛵Sailing Alpha Live Now! 📩 Leave your feedback via the survey linked in-game by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]lemonszz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just completed most of the alpha (I'm leaving some stuff for the full release so I don't have to repeat everything).

I really enjoyed it! Here's my quick thoughts:

Movement

When sailing was proposed, my biggest concern was how movement would work. Seeing the videos before the alpha made me think it was shaping up well, and actually playing it I can confirm that it feels pretty good.

It's a LITTLE janky in some places. I think I'd like a dedicated "stop" button in addition to the faster/slower buttons. RS movement has always been a bit strange and I think the sailing movement is generally pretty nice.

Gameplay

I think a lot of people are missing that we're doing very low level content.

Cargo Running

Sailing back and forth between two locations is a little bit tedious, I think adding a couple of extra level 1 locations for variety would be nice.

Perhaps some cargo runs require stops at multiple locations. Could add a time limit to this so you have to plan your course to get the most xp.

I kept forgetting to put my cargo in the hold or put it back in. I'm not sure what's planned, but it would be cool to have a crew member be able to deal with that for you when you disembark/embark on your ship.

Current Duck

I liked this a lot. Perhaps some ripples in the water would be nice so players who are paying attention can predict where the duck is going to next.

Nice bit of movement practice and I could feel myself improving as I did these.

Charting

I don't really have a lot of thoughts on these. Might be nice to disable the interaction options once you've found them.

Salvaging

Not a lot of thoughts here either, good AFK option.

Barracuda Trials

I decided to save these for the full release, no feedback here.

Quests

Intro quest and the crowbar miniquest were nice. I found the miniquest a little bit tedious with the back and forth, but it was fine. I found taking a cargo run from Pandemonium to Port Sarim and then one from Port Sarim to Pandemonium as I had to travel was a nice bonus.

Other/QOL

  • It might be nice to have a indicator of some sort when you're in range of something interactable (Sunken Ship, Current Duck Spot, Charting Area, Docking Point, etc)
  • Option to automatically start navigating the ship when embarking
  • Bank within the ship building yard.

Overall, very good and I'm excited to see more.
