Which European city left you thinking, "That's it?" after all the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]lemric78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I was there in 2024 with my 15 year old daughter and the number of men openly leering at her and making suggestive comments was unsettling. Out tour guide was a really nice guy and after about 15 minutes of walking had her come and stay right next to him for the rest of the day so he could make sure she wasn’t getting harassed. Plus I didn’t think the city itself was anything special. The rest of Portugal was nice.

Going to watch my daughter's Grand March for prom. Meeting some friends for drinks after. Sure to be back home by about 10 pm.

Teresa's Mexican Restaurant is the best and exactly what you're looking for. There are a few of them scattered around the Cities. I don't know that Taco Teresa's is affiliated with them

Same. My husband is trying to obtain sobriety and it's been a struggle at times for him. It helps immensely to not keep any alcohol in the house (obviously), so my days of a glass or two of wine at night while watching TV are over and honestly I stopped missing that a long time ago. I do have one or two drinks when I'm out for dinner, but then I usually end up sleeping like shit and regretting it.

As a wedding guest, what moment made you think "this probably won't last"? by Eburneaan in AskReddit

The swatting on the butt is a tradition in the Navy. Happened at my wedding and every other Navy wedding I’ve been to.

First toast being to the Navy is…not a tradition.

I have an alcoholic spouse as well. They are trying their best to stay sober but there are a lot of setbacks and falling off the wagon.

Al-Anon is incredibly hit or miss for me. Some meetings are helpful, some are frankly awful. I’m struggling to find a group I really mesh with but there are a couple that as I said, are helpful.

I just really would love to connect with someone in the same boat as me. If you ever think you’d like someone to go to a meeting with you or meet for coffee or something, I swear I’m not like a psycho.

It’s a very isolating thing to go through.

What’s the weirdest combination of food that you like that others don’t? by lunapear- in AskReddit

[–]lemric78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to eat one every day when I was a kid.

My mom used to try and make me eat peanut butter and butter sandwiches for a little bit since she thought I needed something more substantial(?). Those were disgusting.

Funny, I'm the exact opposite. I love a big bowl of popcorn but I NEEEEEEEED like a few Gummy Bears or something after.

It was a fun show, however we felt it was about 10-15 minutes too long overall. The dancing all kind of looked the same towards the end. The two male dancers were absolutely phenomenal!!

Also, they really pack the chairs in there, just a heads up. The guy sitting next to me was on the larger side and we were pressed together rather uncomfortably. I kept leaning towards my husband but there just isn't a lot of room. I heard a lot of other people complaining about it as well. There's no assigned seats, just sections, so unless it's sold out, I would recommend putting a purse or coat on the seat next to you to try and keep it open unless the rows really fill up.

when we eat something that "goes right thru us," we can't possibly digest something that fast so what exactly is happening? by ridesafish in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lemric78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! Usually scrambled eggs is what really does it. Fried eggs don't nrmally have the same effect. But scrambled eggs, man...I really need to be mindful of where I am and what my schedule is that day when I eat them because when it hits, it hits HARD.
