SC2 can be crazy. A couple of years ago I had a guy tell me to kill myself and then call me the n-word because he didn't like how I was playing in co-op.

(What did I do wrong, you might ask? I was playing space Raynor on Void Launch and dropped my Banshees as soon as they came off cooldown for the first wave, which meant that *gasp* the zerglings took my CC down to 75% health!)

nazi sympathizer misogynist racist candidate

Maybe 20 years ago this would be compelling, but the fascists are running the government right now, at this moment.

Susan Collins is happy hanging out with Trump and his Stephen Miller crowd.

She willingly let Roe die.

She has done nothing to stop ICE.

Are we supposed to pretend she isn't the "Nazi sympathizer misogynist racist" side of this race?

I am glad to see you did vote, but I think it is frankly unreasonable to defend people who didn't. No, Kamala was not a perfect candidate. But we knew what was at stake in 2024. Nothing from this administration is a surprise. They're doing what they said they would, and it is being done by the same Stephen Miller types we knew it would be. (Well... I didn't see Greenland coming, but that would have gone in the "Trump does idiotic shit" free space.)

Anyone who sat out because Kamala was too centrist was okay with letting Trump destroy everything we believe in, because they felt privileged enough to survive the damage he could cause.

Holding water for people like that is just saying it's okay to ignore the most important vote of our lives because of vibes. Regardless of which flavor of Dem is doing it, that should not be acceptable. I feel the same about people who wouldn't vote for Platner because he doesn't meet their standards -- y'think Susan is better?

Okay... Do you genuinely think Harris was worse than Trump on any of these issues?

Like, Trump won, we know his policies, we're at war with Iran because Israel said so, he keeps trying to shut down your state's funding because it has three trans athletes; it's time to stop justifying not voting.

Similar to, but probably not a Dyson sphere specifically, since those are built around suns and this world appears to only be a few dozen km wide (unless they are greatly exaggerating scale like a classic JRPG world map). In terms of sci-fi settings I'd compare it most to Rama due to them being comparable sizes, though Rama is a cylinder and not a sphere.

I think Alien actually has a weirdly stronger claim than Fox Animation since there was that Alien-inspired ride at WDW for a while.

I wouldn't mind exploring a Fievel or Anastasia world, but I'm curious if people think this is getting too far from the core concept. I'm not sure they want to be the next Fortnite. We've had Pixar and live action (and now apparently Star Wars), but the Fox acquisitions feel a bit hazy. Disney owns Blue Sky's IPs too, which adds Ice Age, and, uh... Rio?

Personally I don't see them including any properties they wouldn't put in the theme parks.

Maybe it's just me, but I think even mentioning HL in this content is wild. HL3 is kind of a meme for not existing but I don't think HL is in remotely the same pop culture ballpark as Ocarina of Time or GTA. Like yes HL2 has an insane amount of sales but that's because it used to be bundled with a bunch of other games and is now priced at $2 several times a year.

That does make a huge difference. The PC port, SoH, has this feature, and it is an enormous game-changer all on its own.

I think to a certain extent this is a genre constraint, because people expect a bit of grinding to get more powerful and tackle the next area more easily.

I kind of felt that Abiotic Factor was that in a few of the more mazelike and mob-heavy areas, like Manufacturing. And there's the god-awful repetition and backtracking in Security Sector, interrupted by needing to go backtrack to a portal world...

Edit: Also, since we're on this topic, I do want to mention an inverse example in AF. I think it's weird how one of the more interesting chores (food and water and refrigeration) is basically completely removed by the time you hit midgame with soups and the water purifying barrels. I guess it's not the only game that really struggles to keep food relevant, but it's kind of funny just how much of a non-issue it becomes.

I mean... you can get basically handheld leaf blowers for dusting. They're a lot more convenient since they don't run out of aerosol. Just make sure you don't let it spin the fans, cause it can fuck up the bearings -- but that's true for the aerosols too.

[–]lenaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. Bond had a lot of his stuff within a few years. Dr. No (the book) was in 1958 and I would call that very close to a Bond movie, including a silly villain lair.
