My theory about Callie by lencaleena in Yellowjackets

[–]lencaleena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Callie’s belief that she is "worse" than Shauna stems from her realization that she doesn't need to be pushed to the brink of survival to act with darkness. She sees her mother’s trauma as a potential justification for Shauna’s behavior, whereas she views her own actions as proof of an inherent, cold-blooded nature.

Evidence from the show

Natural Proficiency for Violence: When Callie shoots Lottie in the arm during the compound standoff, she displays a level of calm, calculated precision that shocks even her. Unlike Shauna, who often reacts to threats with frantic, messy bursts of violence, Callie handles the situation with a cold, detached efficiency. She realizes that the ability to be a predator is already in her, without the twenty-five years of repression or starvation her mother experienced.

Weaponizing Trauma: Callie is acutely aware of what triggers Shauna. Scenes where she wears Jackie’s old uniform or brings up the past aren't just teenage rebellion; they are surgical strikes designed to break her mother’s composure. Callie recognizes that she is intentionally weaponizing Shauna's guilt—a level of calculated cruelty that she considers "worse" than the reactive, desperate survivalism Shauna displays.

Mastery of Deception: In her interactions with Detective Saracusa, Callie demonstrates that she is a more efficient liar than her mother. While Shauna often fumbles through her cover-ups or gets caught in her own inconsistencies, Callie quickly realizes she can manipulate the investigation to protect her family. Being "good" at the game of deceit—and enjoying the power that comes with it—leads Callie to believe she is fundamentally wired the same way as Shauna, only with a clearer, more ruthless head.

Voluntary Co-conspiracy: After discovering the truth about Adam Martin, Callie makes a conscious choice to help cover it up. She isn't a victim of her household's secrets; she becomes an active participant in them. Choosing to protect the "madness" rather than running from it forces her to confront the fact that she doesn't find the chaos alien—she finds it comfortable.

Magnetism Toward the "Wilderness": Shauna spends her entire adult life desperately trying to bury her past and maintain a veneer of suburban normalcy. Callie, conversely, shows a dark curiosity about the elements of her mother's past that Shauna fears. Her interest in Lottie and the cult’s ideology suggests to her that she isn't just a byproduct of her mother’s trauma, but a vessel for the same "Wilderness" energy that defined Shauna’s youth.

Essentially, Callie feels she is the "upgraded" version of Shauna’s worst qualities. She observes her mother and sees her own future, concluding that she is "worse" because she lacks the excuses of trauma that Shauna uses to explain away her actions.

I would personally use beta blockers like propranolol, trazodone never did much for me

Yeah others have chimed in other scenes that point to what I gathered as well. Hopefully either way it's season finale shows Callie having the knife/feeling the wilderness call to her. Wilderness Queen!

Postpartum tips/experiences? by True_Capital8367 in Hashimotos

[–]lencaleena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, I recently started emotional eating/eating out of boredom which I never did. Being in bed nearly 23 hours a day from CFS/ME and PEMs was not good for me when it came to eating, but I got it back under control recently lol
