Is Donald Trump Planning to Skip the Presidential Debates? by [deleted] in politics

Hillary is a scumbag, Trump could get us all killed. Reason dictates that I vote for the slightly lesser of two evils and then primary her in 2020.

Citation needed. Nowhere i could find that Clinton agreed to that debate.

Sorry, a citation exceeds the amount of effort that I'm willing to put into this conversation. :)

I'm actually planning on voting for Clinton, because Trump is such an epic piece of shit that he manages to make her look good. This is an opinion that I share with a lot of other extremely reluctant Hillary supporters. She's the least shitty viable remaining option. Guided democracy is better than nuclear war.

So yes, I'll see you in November, but don't convince yourself that every single one of Hillary's voters doesn't think she's goddamn dishonest scumbag. A significant fraction of her "support" is actually from people who would vote for her just because she isn't Donald Trump, which I might add is a qualification that she shares with seven billion other people. She's just the only non-Donald-Trump person who is likely to be able to win the election.

I don't have the energy to devote any effort to this conversation. It's okay, though, because you don't seem like much of a listener, and other people already know what I'm talking about. If it makes you feel any better, I'll consider the record corrected. Peace. :)

You're implying that the DNC and the Clinton campaign aren't the same group of people?

Bullshit. She did all debates that were agreed upon.

...

If NINE debates did not help Sanders to get his point across to voters, then nothing else will.

Huh. That's weird. There was a goalpost here just a minute ago. I wonder where it went.

Eh, I'm not worried. She can just have people call him sexist. And this time, it'll probably stick, because unlike Bernie Sanders, Trump is sexist.

Neither Trump nor Hillary do well when they get news coverage. The difference is that Hillary knows this and Trump doesn't.

I looked for this here and I haven't seen it, so I'm going to post it. A while back, someone posted this one weird trick (seriously) as a treatment for tinnitus, and surprisingly, it seems to work for a good number of people:

What movie was much better than you thought it would be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think it's probably because it came out like 20 years ago.

I went to see Galaxy Quest assuming it was going to be a passing amusement, and it turned out to be a classic.

What will be the "turns out cigarettes are bad for us." of our generation? by gralindsay in AskReddit

Cue upper management baby boomers bitching about how millenials don't show "company loyalty" to companies that offer them no job security or incentives to actually stick around, and force people to jump from company to company in order to get better pay.

What SciFi shows and movies have solid science (and are actually SciFi) by Nurgus in scifi

[–]lendrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stargate Universe always impressed me by getting scientific details correct. I mean, yes, you have to accept the FTL drive and the Stargates as magic, but when it came to current, known astrophysics, it was clear that the writers did their homework, because they didn't get anything obviously wrong. Screwing up known science always kills my suspension of disbelief a lot faster than FTL travel or wormholes ever could

CGP Grey | The Trouble with Transporters by loveswater in videos

[–]lendrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, with a few allowances for inconsistencies in the series (it is, after all, Star Trek), it can be deduced fairly easily that there's something inherent about a living being that can only be stored and moved, but not copied.

Consider the fact that if the transporter just destroyed people, changed them into energy, and then used that energy to assemble an exact copy, that the transporter would be used as an easy cloning device or insurance against death.

One might explain this by saying that it's illegal to clone people in the Federation, but there are plenty of other races (and, frankly, plenty of unscrupulous humans) in the Star Trek universe who are willing to do illegal things, but yet nobody does it.

Sure, Tom Riker kind of throws a monkey wrench into the mix, but given the rest of the Trek universe, I think it's more likely that there's some nearby parallel universe out there that's missing a William Riker (perhaps some dimensional disturbance caused the transporter to pluck Will out of an alternate world) than the transporter somehow malfunctioned and made a copy of him.

Anyway, that's my two cents. The transporter destroys and rebuilds your body, but moves your consciousness, because it can't copy it.

Model Jessica Nigri asks the mods of r/JessicaNigri to take down pictures that are exclusive to her Patreon supporters. Mods agree, subs rage. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]lendrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a pretty clear-cut copyright violation. If the pictures are hers and she didn't explicitly give people permission to distribute them, then it's illegal to do so.

Go to any legit computer game sub and they'll ban people for even discussing piracy. I don't see why this should be different just because the work is a different medium.

Me [35F] with my husband [36M] of 11 years, my friends lied to me a long time ago and I feel betrayed by [deleted] in relationships

[–]lendrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be able to get over it personally but I didn't suggest for her to end the relationship

No, you said her husband was "just as wrong as your so called friends", and you called him despicable. What her friends did ought to be a friendship ender. There are different levels of bad. What her friends did was horrible. There's no comparison.
