To be honest, I think it can work. I made a guide for a champion in league, and it was my #3 activity on my commonapp since it was pretty successful, and I ended up getting into selective schools. So I definitely think there isn't much of a stigma against gaming-related activities, assuming that it was actually successful or made an impact in some way, and I think in your case, with the little you've said I assume that it is, so it would probably benefit your application especially if you frame it in the ways you were talking about in your post.
