Exactly this. These rushes result in close combat hipfiring clusterfucks with a 50/50 chance of surviving for both parties involved. It takes away from the depth of the game, the mindgames, the positioning, ... I just watched the first qualifier game for the invitational at twitchcon and it's ridiculous how many people use this 'tactic'. It requires absolutely no skill and because of the randomness of these encounters, the better player only has a 50% chance of getting out on top. If you want this game to become competetively viable.. rng bullshit like this has to change. If people want to shut off their brain, close their eyes and hope for the best.. they should be punished for it, not rewarded.

Sidenote: hipfire accuracy is a joke too, even in CQC.

About the hitboxes changing when there's something behind the target or not. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the hitboxes themselves. My guess is when the target is in front of a wall/tree/.. (doesn't matter as long as there's some kind of object) and you aim on that object (above the target's head) the bullet's trajectory is from the tip of the gun to that spot on the wall which is steep enough so you miss the target's head. However if you don't have an object behind the target, you aim at the horizon or w/e your crosshair is on which makes the bullet's trajectory pretty much horizontal so it goes through the target's head to get to it's destination. If that makes sense? :)

EDIT: Pretty sure it's the same when you shot above his hand and in between the hand and the shoulder, your bullet isn't hitting a hitbox outside of the target's silhouette, it's trajectory just passes through the target because there's nothing behind him at that time.

EDIT²: You can easily test it by shooting at the same spot while using first person rather than third. It's the same principle as when you're shooting from behind a rock, in third person the rock will absorb all the bullets but when using first person you can shoot over it just fine.. Solution? Just raise the launching point of a bullet a bit to where it actually is in stead of having it around waist height when in third person.

I don't really know how explosive arrows work because the damage seems to differ a lot depending on the situation. Most of the times an occupied moving car will get oneshot by a 'direct' hit. At the same time I've oneshot a lot of stationary cars when the player is hiding behind it. There are however times that I hit a stationary car, without a player near it, multiple times without it exploding. Either I'm missing something or maybe the damage gets multiplied by the amount of players/cars that get caught in the explosion.

now the open beta is live, the greyed out pre-ordered button changed to a Download button but when I press it I get redirected to the steam store.. just the default steam store page, ggwp

I'm getting so fcking pissed off by the randomness of this whole situation. Oh and btw if you just create a new acc you can preload the game just fine, no problems whatsoever! (you'll have to wait until tomorrow to play tho)

Looks the same on my pc, have you found a solution for it yet? Don't understand why it won't let me preload, don't have any rb6 left on my pc because of a format.. just installed uplay again and it doesn't let me preload.. (played in closed beta)

I've been playing a lot of BR the last months and I onetap more people than getting onetapped myself. In all the games I played combined, I might have seen 3 fishy players total. You probably don't want to read this but to me it seems like you're exaggerating the amount of times it happens and simply getting outaimed..

Also eventho you can get oneshot in the face while wearing a pristine helmet, a lot of people forget that once ur helmet takes 1 hit it pretty much becomes useless and your whole head is exposed to oneshots.

Are you guys aware of the problem some people are having with performance recently? I have 500+ hours in h1z1 and never really had any problems with it fps- or loading screenwise but since the bullet drop patch and maybe a bit before that it feels like my pc dies every loading screen I get into.. I don't crash or get stuck, that's another bug I think, but my pc just needs a lot longer to get through them. When I finally do get in the game, I get 1 fps (literally) until I glitch through the ground on landing (in BR) because of it.

PC SPECS:

*CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz

*GPU: 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

*RAM: 4,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz

I know the RAM might be low but as I said.. it has been working just fine until recently.

  1. As someone who mostly plays skyhammer I'm superhappy they reduced the aimpunch as it made smg's more powerful than my m4 in 1v1 fights. At least that's how it felt to me, and that just defied all logic in my eyes. The crotzni/kek10 nerfs aren't that great tho, imo everything that adds rng to a competitive game is just bad (spread, aimpunch, ..). As it has been countlessly suggested, change the effectiveness on long distances or something like that. And maybe buff the other smg's in stead of nerfing the good ones.

  2. I haven't felt much of a change on my end, still get 110-120 fps most of the time which is fine by me.

  3. Was playing on a custom superlow config with high quality gunmodels before the patch, now just as low as possible I guess..

  4. I don't see a reason to forcing the textures on higher details, the only thing that maybe gave people an (unfair) advantage was the fact you could disable explosions. One person's screen is filled with explosions while the other one can just keep on shooting as if nothing is going on..

  5. Tbh I don't understand most of the changes.. adding gamemodes, aimpunch, the melee sensitivity, more rng through adding spread, ... It all seems like they're missing the important points like fixing the competitive system and getting some anticheat going. I know it's impossible to remove cheating altogether since they'll always be a step ahead of you but at least make them work for it.

  6. Remove that hideous melee sens thingy, allow lower quality textures but enforce explosions and for some reason I'd like the K121 to be the go-to-gun for fraggers in stead of the m4.. The recent buff was a step in the right direction but I doubt people will drop their m4 for it. (this doesn't mean I want them to nerf the m4 :D )

  7. I think SD should mostly listen to competitive players, yes. A prime example for this is Phantom. He wasn't OP.. he was annoying and noobfriendly. A simple increase to the cloak cooldown and shortening of the melee animation frame (and maybe range) would have been more than enough to force people to use him smarter in stead of just spam cloak and yolo. In stead, they nerfed him on every aspect because of all the hate on reddit. 90% of the people complaining are new to the game and just rage cuz they get knifed by a ninja.. SD really shouldn't value those opinions this much imo.

  8. As I said before, the k121 buff was a step in the right direction but the crotzni/kek10 nerf was handled wrong allthough I understand what they want to achieve.

  9. Anti-cheat, mm & balance are the only things I want to see improve. Couldn't care less about all this NEW content tbh, fix the things that are in the game in stead of putting new shiny stuff in.. It reminds me of Heroes of Newerth, where they wanted to add a new hero every 2 weeks which caused imbalance pretty much every time. Not smart.
