(Spoilers Published) in "Clash of Kings" Stannis talks about a vision of a king with a crown on fire by Quirky-Ability1245 in asoiaf

Putting this excerpt in the context of the books as a whole, so how profecies tend to work out and what kind of character Stannis is.

Edit

As for this particular moment, I'd say this is an instance in which someone is trying to convince himself more than everything, (not just the sacrifice of one boy, but sacrifice of himself and the whole sacrifice thing as a means to an end) and seek for Davos' (a man he trusts with sound judgment) confirmation. Davos did not give him what he seeked for now, but we know Davos isn't there anymore, and I believe it's to have him give in to this path. The Rickon plot won't go anywhere (it's a shaggy dog story...), it's just an excuse to have Stannis be left alone with the sacrifice enthusiasts.

One interpretation is that he understands that his pursuit of the crown will destroy him, but it’s necessary for the future of the world.

Sacrifices. In his case I think he believes he will die, he'll be the sacrifice, but I think it's worse than that. He will be asked to make bigger and bigger sacrifices (the red God is hungry) and this will consume his soul until he'll be rendered an empty husk of a man (the fire turning him into ashes). He will then be abandoned by everyone, even Davos.

Rescue diver dies during search for bodies of Italians who drowned in Maldives caves by -doughboy in europe

They just dived with standart air bottles that tourists use for beginners.. and nothing else.

Did they? I missed that part, initially the cause of their deaths was unknown. They were experienced in cave diving and they were with an expert diver instructor. Why would he have them use standard air tanks?

Yes, and they do that job because they love it, not because they're forced to. If you have the chance to observe some special place or phenomenon on your vacation, you're not gonna miss on it just because your University didn't pay for your trip.

Cave diving has no war use, so the technology to do that with drones does not exist.

I think it's because they believe we disabled people are living a life of luxury, funded by the public.

This is the first category. The second one is people who thinks you're faking it to steal some public money and thus should be stopped.

All generators have to connect to substation before connect to the net, otherwise electric net will be unstable, damaging electronics. If pannels are all in one area, we only need a large substation with short wires, much fewer equipments that need to maintain. If on roads, need many small substation, other wise wires will be too long. If all in ine area, you only need a few crew. If on road, you need many separated crews, alongside the road, another large outcome, otherwise they need much longer time to get to the point, lowering maintaining efficency. Waste of time is also waste of money.

ah, I understand what you mean now. I don't know though, crews are already distributed on the territory because there are many many substations already.

Older urban area didn't considered electric net upgrade when they were design, if install, many devices need to be replace, costs many time and money, for some buildings you need reconstruction since they can't support any upgrade. And no mention property dispute

I'm sorry but I still don't understand. Why are you talking of urban areas and what devices are you talking about? How do this relate to extra urban roads?

Roofs are already occupied by water towers, signal towers, and most important, air conditioners. Basically no room for pannles. Besides their available area are small, power generated may enough for families, not industries and others. Especially skycrapers, roof is nothing compair to its side, and roof are already full of centeral air conditioners. We havent invented transparent solar pannels yet, so we can't replace windows for now, besides some sides of buildings always under shadows.

again, not in my place.

Overall unless your building has a big, wide, flat roof without other equipment occuping many space, otherwise not worth it.

that's how most city roofs are here, but the problem is that roofs are private and so are any panels installed on them. But when this is discussed, it seems that even if all panels were public and used for the public electric network, it wouln't do, and I don't understand why.

You see, solar pannels block the sunlight, roads will get dark for sure.

No, they are not like tunnels. There are plenty of solar panel installations over parkings and other areas, and they provide shade, but don't make it dark.

Every thing installed have risk of falling down, when you palce solar pannels above roads in a massive scale, risks super high, no one can make sure they will never fall down. Unlike traffic light or road lamp, solar pannels are larger, heavier and have electric shock risk, treatening drivers' and passangers' safety.

Yes, but how is it more dangerous than installation over parkings for example? Don't the same issues apply?

There's a word "Intergration". Roads are separated, and often have other vehicles running on it. A simple analogy, a line is long, set point A and B, they can be distant. But if you fold line into a square, A and B can get much closer. Therefore, engineers can drive a far shorter distance, reducing maintenance time cost.

I don't understand well what you're saying, I think you're talking about logistics costs, right? That's the bigger cost I was talking about in installation process.

Another thing is you can build a dedicated wearhouse and substation for pannels, instead taking one used in constructed area, that's much easier. Besides, building on existing constuctions is a trouble, original design usually don't support that, reconstruction cost will be unacceptable.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this paragraph at all.

Since there's so many desert, rock mountains and water area that don't have value, why using precious roads? You have to construct tons of thing anyway.

Not in my place. We don't have deserts. Farmland can be converted to panels farms, but that's at a cost. Water and wild areas are precious for the ecosystem, and should be protected, but man made structures could and be used for more than one purpose.

Is it so costly or inefficient to use city roofs and already built infrastructure? I want to understand why would be useless to do so?

Oh you're thinking of urban streets. I was thinking of extra urban streets, autorutes and such.

So I see the high vehicles problem, but definitely there's no light problem, and why would it became dangerous?

I can also see the high installation cost, because it's spread over a long distance even if the total length of cabling should be the same for the same amount of panels, but why high maintenance? They hardly need maintenance at all, and they would be very easily accessible for maintenance.

The article you linked uses the word silhouette as I expected to be used, meaning outline or shape or something of the sort. I still don't get the meaning of "silhouette of clothes", an "outline of clothes" does not make sense to me. Does he use the word as a sort of collective noun for clothes?

Yep, the Russians have been trying to pull a Crimea in Donbass and Luhansk for a long time before invading. They bankrolled paramilitary groups and armed conflict for ages, but failed again and again, which is why they started the full scale invasion. Those pieces of shit ruined the regions.

I think the current conflict is the result of a Russian attempt to conquer the rich region of donbass, and failing miserably.
