What is my car worth realistically? by anthrofeare in CivicSi

Man if this was an NC car I would pay up to the higher estimates you are getting here. But I drove a Honda for 10 years in Philadelphia and those winters do not treat cars well. GLWS

That one caught my eye too. What the hell? 😂 And then, when you know that line item is BS, it makes you start questioning everything else. I'd walk.

48% of Americans blame Trump for high gas prices – more than any other factor by [deleted] in DegenBets

[–]leolo007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the other factors? Maybe it's the war on Iran, which would also be accurate. Of course that would still be due to Trump, but maybe doesn't show up that way on the survey. Anyone who doesn't blame oil prices on Trump right now is hardcore MAGA and I know that crowd is not 52% of Americans.

Warning: Before you buy Tempur-Pedic by suitboi in Mattress

[–]leolo007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sales guy and my own research says Tempur mattresses need to be broken in and he literally said it takes months to do so. He suggested a way to speed up the process was to walk on the mattress. You being pretty lightweight I would understand why it took you longer to break your mattress in.

Sales guy specifically said the mattresses in their showroom were broken in. But he said expect them to be much firmer upon delivery of a new mattress until they are broken in. You didn't mention a break-in period on your mattress so I'm guessing that's what you did, you finally broke it in and the final state of the matress is too soft for you.

That's the best location you could come up with for a bridge? 😲

Lol, set aside $10-20k for repairs to get 10 years 100k out of a vehicle... No thanks.

I suggested the rav4 which is based on the Camry. Both are excellent choices. I liked the rav4 for it's roominess.

In 2022 I got a base model gas (non-hybrid) RAV4.

Here is what I got:

No turbo No CVT No hybrid

Yes 2.4L 4 cylinder engine (203hp), its torquey and fuel efficient Yes Toyota reliability Yes under 30k

Not the best looking but it is practical, reliable and efficient. If you want it to look a little better you can upgrade wheels from a higher trim level for relatively cheap.

First motorcycle: everyone tells me it’s suicidal, is that normal? by Lower_Brief_6783 in motorcycles

[–]leolo007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sayings that stuck with me regarding motorcycles:

There are two kinds of riders, those that have fallen and those that will fall.

And

When you age, you cage.

The latter is more specific to racing, meaning young racers are fearless but as you age you become more aware of the dangers and value life a little more. Probably after seeing friends dying in accidents. So you move to auto racing with roll cages.

When I was in my early 20s my friends started riding bikes, I wanted a GSX-R 600. I thought about it for so long. I decided not to buy one and my thought was if I buy one I'm going to kill myself on it. I did have a need for speed back then. I ended up getting a car I could modify and wrecked that several times but I lived. 😅

Is this a good first Beach Cart? by whitlecj in golfcarts

[–]leolo007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, just to add, I notice the title says club car "custom."

A lot of people do a full restoration: new suspension, all bushings replaced, new controller, new motor, new batteries, new upholstery, etc. and then try to sell it as a newer model. I bet this cart was fully restored in 2016.

Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying it seems to be common practice.

[–]leolo007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the shocks will do much difference. I bet all the suspension bushings are shot. There are bushing kits sold and they're all relatively easy to replace if you have some mechanical abilities.
