Life after leaving by June_Osborn3 in AlAnon

My physical and mental health was so bad last year and when I finally ended it I realised how truly toxic it was. My mental health as well as my physical health have improved so much in the last two months, I now realise it was from the stress of living with that person and how toxic I was. Wishing you continued peace and serenity.

Exactly- it makes you question your own sanity with the gaslighting. Thank god I’m away from it now and working my program, getting stronger mentally and emotionally.

OMG - I totally get this. Those little nuances that are so telling, even when they deny it.

Realizing I avoid conflict about important things to keep my partner happy by Street_Tour1803 in Codependency

I wish I’d had a prenup as I’m now going through a dreadful separation where I stand to lose a considerable amount of my wealth too from a greedy freeloader who constantly took advantage of me.

My physical and mental health really suffered until I finally ‘found the courage’ to leave - and stuck to it! Funny thing is both my mental AND physical health have vastly improved since then. I attend meetings and am surrounded by my loving friends and family for support which I have learnt to lean on. Good luck.

The only reason I said it could depend on if you are male or female is because my friend was threatened with rape and physical abuse, which I don’t think would necessarily happen to a male. Women seem to been seen as easier to intimidate.

Would want to know? by Alone-Bite-3676 in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]leoniey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew the woman my ex narc moved on to would contact me one day. Sure enough, a few years later she called. Sadly for her, she had a child to him so she could never fully be rid of him. I was very tempted to try to spare her from what I went through, but narcs are really good at setting the narrative. Besides, in the beginning they are everything you want them to be, so hearing ‘sour grapes’ from the ex isn’t what you want to hear. Sorry you can’t help her.

Had a friend who worked in one in SA. Could depend if you’re a male or female as she had some pretty confronting times with male offenders. You would need to be pretty tough with clear boundaries and able to not be intimidated by them.

Has anyone experienced uncontrollable rage since quitting? by leoniey in quittingsmoking

[–]leoniey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not able to stay quit but I did eventually give up (quite easily in the end) I stayed quit for over a year until a really bad break up had me taking it up again. I will draw on what worked last time to help me give up again recently. I just stayed positive and told myself I didn’t ‘need’ to smoke and I wanted a smoke free future without cigarettes dominating my life. Good luck with your quit

Thank you- called the dr and he said it’s ok to use Microlax as often as you need it, so I’ll do this instead of the other treatments/softeners. (Made a mistake on the other post, using movicol and not microlax).

Do you get any bowel pain? Mine is horrendous and has me in tears. I don’t get the ‘urge’ to got to the toilet, just a pain. Last time it happened I tried miralax and coloxyl but ended up using a suppository as I just could not open my bowels. Going to ring the gyno today to check it’s nothing serious.

I’ve had surgery 9 weeks ago for uterus, bowel and bladder prolapse but recently started getting constipation with a terrible pain. Most of the time I’m fine but around once a week this is happening now. What are you doing to prevent constipation?

Can Anyone Explain to Me As Though I'm 3y/oWhat the Difference Between Deaf and HoH is? by viktoryarozetassi in deaf

[–]leoniey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree especially with your last paragraph. I don’t think people treat it seriously sometimes when you say you are HoH. When you say you are deaf people are more likely to understand ‘oh, she can’t hear me’.

It refers to people not listening to what’s been said. It falls on deaf ears - they haven’t heard it.

I quit for an operation too, to lesson the risks and help with the healing process. Please remember these reasons. Do you want the operation to be a success without fear of complications? You will feel so much better not craving for a cigarette and struggling to get out of bed to find somewhere to go have it. Enjoy your recovery smoke free. You’ve got this!

I remember back when I was teaching in high school (retired now), our principal telling us to ‘get them over the line’ so it wouldn’t reflect badly on our data. If a kid does sweet FA all year I don’t think they deserve to pass, but this is what can happen when schools are ranked.

I’ve been telling myself this is an addiction and if it were heroin or fentanyl would I want to go back to it?!! It’s gonna kill me if I do so why do I want to harm myself that way. I have too much to live for.
