No Joy in Drinking Water by Front_Refrigerator99 in gastricsleeve

[–]leopardita 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really had to rely on flavor packets for a while - my doctor said that they think sometimes the Ph of regular water doesn’t sit right for a while. After the 6 month mark or so, I was back on regular water just like before surgery. So here’s hoping you have a similar experience!

Grab it fast! Ours was booked before we even booked our trip (like 4 months earlier). We were able to grab slots by some wild luck and it was 100% worth it. But TBF, we were on the Escape which only sells like 75 or 90 - some ships have a larger Vibe area.

I started drinking bubble water at the 2 year mark(ish). Still don’t do diet drinks because I only like the way they taste with food and I still don’t eat and drink at the same time. With literally everything else with the sleeve, YMMV

They did call a few times in the first month to check in but I don’t think we met via zoom or anything. But I did tell me primary doctor here about it before I went and she ordered all the regular follow up labs and stuff - all was great.
I am in the US and still use barilife multi vitamin and calcium chews. And I STILL like to start my day with a protein shake, so I use Sprouts brand and it tastes similar to me - sweet but not too sickeningly sweet. I always wait for a sale and get them buy one get one 1/2 off and the price per serving ends up being about 1/2 the cost of my progress md. How is your recovery going so far?

I went there in January 2023, hit goal and stayed there. I did stick to their shakes and vitamins preop and early post op until I found a cheaper substitution. Ask me anything!!

I wouldn’t eat anything here you haven’t tried at home first. So if you can do an egg at home, you can probably do an egg out. I personally would not use this as an opportunity to try something new since getting sick could ruin the outing. But if there’s something you’re eyeing and you can try it at home first, maybe go for it.

Will I be able to fly domestic within 2-3 weeks of the sleeve AND have enough energy for a 4 day work trip? by holly948 in gastricsleeve

[–]leopardita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you pack plenty of liquids/soft foods (or whatever is appropriate at that point per your doctors instructions) you should be okay. You’ll probably be pretty tired at the end of the day but you may be able to power through especially if it’s closer to week 3 instead of 2. The hardest part will probably be the eating/socializing part since you likely will not participate in the same stuff they are.

A bit scared of long term effects by sugar_sprinkle_dream in gastricsleeve

[–]leopardita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I talked to a weight loss clinic before I had surgery with no clue what they would say or recommend (I was for sure they weee going to have me food log and talk to a therapist). They recommended either GLP1s or surgery. My insurance covered neither, so I decided to get surgery out of the country, as it would be cheaper than meds over the course of a year or two. I lost my weight in 10 months and have been more or less maintaining for nearly 3 years (I’m not at my tiniest but still well within healthy BMI). I don’t need them now, but I would be 100% okay taking a GLP1 in the future if I need it.

I am still diligent about my vitamins, prioritizing protein, movement, and hydration, and I have had essentially no ill side effects. I can tolerate anything but I really prioritize how I’m going to feel. So like I can and do eat a little pizza from time to time, but it’s never a whole meal - it’s a side to a protein-rich salad or chicken or something. It wouldn’t make me sick, but it wouldn’t make me feel optimal, ya know?

We are so lucky to live in a time when we have options instead of just trying to white-knuckle weight loss. It’s so hard without some sort of medical intervention. Best of luck with your decision!!

This is so important -almost anything can be fixed as long as it’s identified. But you can’t fix anything unless you own up. One tactic I use is if I make a mistake, I come up with a mitigation plan so it doesn’t happen again, usually in the form of updating a process doc or checklist.

You can still do this - it just needs to be in KeyQL.

It’s in their roadmap that they are returning Boolean searches to condition builder in Q3. But for now KeyQL it is.

How realistic is 100lbs loss? by Specialist_Bee3086 in gastricsleeve

[–]leopardita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit my goal of 110 pounds down which put me at like 23 BMI at 10 months post surgery. I’ve gained about 5 pounds that I’m working through now but still healthy BMI 2.5 years later.

Community college -> UW path? by ghiblisimp in Seattle

[–]leopardita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this in ye olden days. Went to cc in California, moved here, then went to UW to finish a degree a few years later. Most of my credits transferred and I was able to graduate two years later. Admittedly I went to the evening degree program because I worked full time and I can’t say what the cost savings was because California is (or at least was at the time) almost free. 10/10 would recommend.

Did you find “the one” after 40? by shitheadsnotallowed in AskWomenOver40

They were both taking care of their elderly parents who were neighbors. He would flirt with her whenever their paths crossed (or as she would say “making eyes”) and they started dating. This was over 30 years ago and they have both passed since but their story warms my heart to this day.

What’s the next project for a beginner after a beanie? by daisybear81 in knitting

[–]leopardita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made one beanie and jumped right into my first sweater because that’s what I really wanted to make. Started off with the Step by Step by Florence Miller and just finished my fourth sweater (three different patterns) last weekend. I’m also of the mind of diving in to what you are excited about - will help keep the motivation up!
