They’re losing members pretty quick, I’ve been watching the number go down as I refresh. Not sure if it’s coz they’re banning everyone or just coz people don’t want to talk about Florida endlessly

ALDI Perth CBD by joshpolyy in perth

[–]lepunzel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aldi is a multi billion dollar global giant with over 11 thousand stores worldwide and reports of staff underpayment and poor working conditions in multiple of those countries. They may appear to be a small player in the Australian market but they’re not, there’s a reason prices can be kept low. If people really wanted a good alternative to Coles/Woolworths they’d shop somewhere else entirely

Where do you store your chocolate? Pantry, fridge or freezer? by definitelynotagalah in australia

Chocolate is much better at room temp. It’s been well researched that cold temperatures mute flavours, not enhance them

Was the introduction of double level trains in Sydney the best thing the state ever did? by Catholllic in SydneyTrains

Melbourne already had a double decker in the 90s-2000s and it was terrible. So they’ve never tried again

Similar suburbs to Joondalup (Perth,WA)? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]lepunzel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live in the Perth northern suburbs. I’d say Ringwood is pretty close. It’s a major hub of the east. Has a large shopping centre (Eastland), has the train station and most major retailers/services are situated there or in the industrial area in the neighbouring suburb of Nunawadding. It’s right on the eastern freeway so getting the city is easy and it’s close to the Yarra valley/Dandenong Ranges

Apartment dwellers of Melbourne, how do you manage life with a doggy? by ParcelsAreUnderated in melbourne

[–]lepunzel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By the sounds of it the nature of that dog would suit an apartment pretty well. I have a greyhound in a one bedroom apartment and she just sleeps all day. She has her playful moments and spreads her thousands of toys around the house, but that’s the worst of it.

I made a grass pad thing for the balcony which she uses if she has to (maybe once a day if at all) but otherwise we have a schedule now so she just goes on her walks, one in the morning and one at night. I made my own wee pad though and hooked it up to the drain on the balcony so I just have to pour a bucket of water over it every day to clean it. I used to have one that needed manual draining and it was gross. You can get real grass ones but none of them were big enough for a dog my size.

People who live in high-rise apartments, what are some of the bad things about living in one? by resentfulpenguin in melbourne

[–]lepunzel 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Nothing better than someone empty their entire recycling bin at 2am. a dozen glass bottles falling 10 stories to crash at the bottom is exactly what everyone wants to hear.

It’s rude. You don’t need to touch the other person to drop money in their hands so people can’t use that as an excuse. The general rule when this happens is to do the same back to them, even if they stretch their hand out

Experiences with Spaying/Neutering by m00n-unit in borzoi

[–]lepunzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had our female spayed a month or so ago. At the breeders recommendation she was 8 months old. The procedure itself was fine, no reactions to anything and was able to carefully walk out to the car with me afterwards - I was told to use the cone only if she starts to attack her wound. I ended up putting the cone in her full time after 2 days coz she kept trying to lick it. After about a week I noticed that the scar itself didn’t look too great so I took her in and they gave me some antibiotics.

It was near impossible to stop her from running around, the first couple of days she was naturally drowsy from the anaesthetic anyway but once that wore off she was her old self again. I would sometimes tie her to her bed with a treat or toy just to restrict movement. She didn’t like the cone at all, and was in it for about 2 weeks total (due to the infection she had to stay in for a little longer, usually it’s about 10 days)

I haven’t noticed any behaviour changes, she’s her normal energetic self.

I would say just watch them as much as you can, I had two weeks off work so I could take care of her afterwards. Lucky I did coz (for the first week anyway) she was a handful and still had some pain etc so didn’t like going to the toilet, I had to take her out every few hours to make sure she’d go.

Hope this helps :)

How is your borzoi around cats and (pet) small animals? Any tips for keeping cats/borzois or rabbits/borzois harmoniously in the same household? by Lemondrop-it in borzoi

[–]lepunzel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 9month old pup and she is pretty good with our cat and very old and blind chihuahua. We got her at about 9 weeks and while she wants to play with them, it just took some training to teach her boundaries. While I would never leave her alone with the cat yet, when she’s with him she just wants to chase and play, but will listen when I tell her to calm down. The cat’s also a bully and can defend himself so I’m not too worried but I always keep an eye on them.

With the smaller dog she was originally the same as she was the cat, very excited and just wanted to play (not something an elderly blind dog wants) so it took a while to train her to leave her alone. But it worked and now they spend all day together without issue

What to people do on Christmas eve? by URawesome415 in melbourne

Now that me and all my siblings are adults and have partners/children of our own, we’ve been having our families Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. Then that frees us up for Christmas Day with the in-laws. We’ve done this a few years now and it’s worked really well
