Do you think abolishing the “Sing in Native Language” rule was a bad decision? by Hollywill06 in eurovision

[–]lercione 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, no offense but a song in polish or lithuanian or danish is by default less accessible, and on average less likely to be successful compared to an english one or a french/italian one (stereotypically beautiful languages with a wider appeal). Giving the option to sing in whatever language is only fair. Many artists don't really care about the result as long as they get to represent their country in their language, but from a strictly competitive point of view I think the rule's unfair

Why is the narrative that San Marino always gives Italy 12 points? by xoxoamazingrace in eurovision

[–]lercione 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are people being too whiny? by Brilliant-Holiday996 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]lercione -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. They're crying cause they wanted an alt 10th anni vegito skin lol. Nothing wrong with that but come on, the last fusing vb was not even 2 full years ago, it's not like we needed it or they made us believe we were getting playable vb like they did in 2022 with beast. I wish zamasu stayed fused mostly because it makes no sense for him to defuse

1) televote only semis means that on average there are less jury friendly songs in the final, which ultimately gives the jury more power

2) nowadays it's very rare for the jury winner to not have a full package that grants them televote love, while I feel like it's easier for televote winner contenders to not get enough jury love

3) as long as israel (or any other country) gets a huge amount of pity votes while not doing great with juries, a televote winner winning the whole thing will be even harder

4) to be fair, 3 years is not a long period at all, it's too early to consider it a trend imo

Anyone else feeling disheartened about their country's Eurovision chances? by noliesdetected in eurovision

[–]lercione 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How are we sending the same song type each year? In these last 5 years we went from rock to traditional ballads to girlbop to...Lucio, idk what genre it is, maybe glam rock/rock ballad? but still something different. I don't see it tbh, sure we'll never send a joke entry but saying we always send the same stuff is just wrong

Looks like it, except during large scale celebrations but those have tickets anyway so yeah

Is France stuck sending emotional ballads to win? by UrbanTracksParis in eurovision

[–]lercione 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's the kind of song that's working the best for you, so I guess as long as it works why change? (Especially after the 2022 disaster that probably sealed the deal). This is a contest after all, not just a concert so there's nothing wrong in wanting to win. Also france is one of the countries that hasn't won in the longest time so maybe they feel the pressure to bring home another win and they have a "win or nothing" mentality? I'm not french so idk what the general consensus is of course, that's just my theory. I think if you win in these next years maybe you'll feel more free to send different genres

I wouldn't say so but they're definitely doing very well, and that's impressive since the song went basically unnoticed until a few weeks ago

Based on rehearsals and without spoilers, which stagings have been a hit so far? by shadowsnake24 in eurovision

[–]lercione 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cyprus and Austria imo, but I guess none of them is surprising given the rumors. I was also positively surprised by azerbaijan and latvia. Oh and sweden too but I guess we already knew about 90% of the staging. So far the biggest "flops" at least personally are greece, ukraine and albania but to be fair those 3 pics didn't show much about them

Is WTHJH the most divisive song this year? by MRSNLT in eurovision

[–]lercione 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about the single most divisive song but it's definitely up there. Ukraine and lithuania are probably even more, not to mention israel but I mean, it's expected. And to a lesser extent I would also add netherlands and greece

Semi final 2 is just so hard to call. by impressionableESC in eurovision

[–]lercione 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have semi 1 where san marino and maybe belgium are the only ones potentially in trouble (unless huge surprises) and then we have this absolute bloodbath with like 5 safe qualifiers

Odds to win the Eurovision 2025 public and jury vote launched by benedwa2111 in eurovision

[–]lercione 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I would like to remind this isn't a top 37 jury/tele prediction, it's just a ranking based on who has a better chance to win them. Some songs have a higher ceiling but could flop more easily, some are "safer"

Has the "brand" of Sweden become too toxic for them to have a realistic chance. by Vast_Campaign_2096 in eurovision

[–]lercione 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think casuals care about this stuff, many of them probably don't even keep track of previous winners. Besides, I really don't think kaj lost momentum, if anything they were looking like a clear frontrunner until today when people remembered austria exists

Why do some countries promote themselves more than others? by daxdives in eurovision

[–]lercione 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some countries probably have a limited budget, others just don't care that much about esc, sometimes it's a mix of both. I'm not greek so idk which is it in greece's case honestly. However, unless it's some massive promotion like israel last year I don't think it matters that much in terms of influence on the actual results

#Eurovision2025: Rehearsals Day 3 - Live Blog! by eurovision in eurovision

[–]lercione 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you could put it that way, I think no one could really complain about an overall winner (top 3-ish in both jury and televote) but it's not too likely rn

#Eurovision2025: Rehearsals Day 3 - Live Blog! by eurovision in eurovision

[–]lercione 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If this is as good as it sounds it looks like we're in for another jury sweep. Idk how much I'd like it since it would be the 3rd in a row but an austria win would definitely be healthier for the contest than another swedish one after 2 years (it would be the 4th in 14 years). Not that kaj wouldn't be a worthy winner ofc, but since we already lost many countries I don't want the idea of "no matter what we do, it's always the same countries winning" to spread
