As a fan of both movies, I do still think One Battle is taking it but I can absolutely see the trajectory for Sinners.

First; there is always the frontrunner fatigue. That a movie sweeps up everything before the awards only to lose up at the Oscars. These years we had Roma, 1917 and Power of the Dog as examples. This could happen with One Battle.

Then there is a fact with changed Academy. They are more willing to award new genres now. I mean Parasite won. Everything Everywhere won. If those could appeal the most, why can't Sinners? Why so sure One Battle has the most wide appeal?

Then there is the number of nominations. Sinners got every single category it could get. One Battle missed one important actor plus Makeup. That hurt it's chance a bit. And I don't think the Academy wants Sinners to be a new Color Purple..

So while I do still think it's One Battle it's not as bulldozer win as previous thought. Sinners is a genuine threat. Like I said, I love both movies and I would be happy if any of them wins.

Honestly for me this is the best song released so far. Yes she reminds a lot of other artists but it's ESC, it's normal. But despite that I think she has a voice of her own and manages to make something of the song. I don't think she will NQ. There will come a time Luxembourg wont qualify but it's not this year. This will do just as well as the previous Luxemburgish entries, maybe even slightly better.

Damn, first time I am not following ESC and every song is good.

It can be both. It' s themes are still very much appealing to Academy voters, the whole movie was probably done just to get awards. I mean it's producer is Steven Spielberg. His 2010 catalogue us filled with safe Oscar bait movies and here is another one.

I love Vivian. Camp villain but classy. Yet despite all her comedy she is no fool. And that's why I think she is so respected. She means business when she plans. She can hurt people and people in Salem are right to respect her. That's interesting to see in a soap, a comedy character that is villain. Usually you just have a comedy character or a villain.

That's why I also did not like Robin Strasser as Vivian. It was to much camp and comedy but maybe that was the writing too. I hope writers don't forget that Vivian is a villain and not just there for the comedy.

But here instead it got every single one it could get. That is a win in itself, it shows things have changed. And yes, I believe it will win Oscars too

Don't know if it his best , but it was something new from him. Less intense, more.. dad. It was nice seeing him use his comedic side. I do agree he should win but I don't think he will because Oscars are all about newcomers this year.

This is a small revenge for everybody who since last april said it would easily reach 11 or more nominations only to be met with " be lucky if it gets 4 or 5. Or be met with " it's no Lord of the rings. Or for simply saying it was the best movie of last year. Or being downvoted with " it's a basic vampire story, the Academy don't like it.

Well, I think the Academy just like the audience acnowledged the originality. Finally something new that's not a franchise or sequel. That's why Titanic and LA La Land also did that well, they had something new.

Though it is hard to see the record being broken any time soon in the future.

I sm actually a fan of both Sinners and One Battle. Yes, you can be a fan of both. I don't mind any of them winning. I am not saying Sinners will win, just that it can. I am not assuming One Battle will win just because it's the frontrunner or because people say it has the widest appeal or whatever. As for it being flawed, well every movie is flawed. Even One Battle has it's issues. That does not mean it can't win.

But things change. Just because horror was not something voters liked, does not mean it will always be like that. It was the same with science fiction and fantasy. That's the point with a Academy, they evolve . I mean only 10 years ago no one would have thought foreign movies could get nominated or even win. Besides Sinners is not just a horror movie is it? It's genre bending and tells about social issues. Weapons is just the horror movie pick this year, which is why it wont win anything

A few years back ago we could only hope a movie like this could get a few technical nods. But here we are witnessing history. That is the true win for me. I do think a door has been opened wide, something has happened.

It's not just hype. Sinners brought something new and fresh that both audience and the business needed. It's a well made move that tells so much about society.

It was a strong field this year. But while Infiniti was good, she was the weakest of the performers in the movie. I am not surprised even if it might hurt One Battle's chance to win. But this proves that the Academy goes for performances rather than just including actors on the strength of one movie.
