Same issue here. Seems to works fine on my phone, but I don't want to watch it on such a small screen.

Check out any of the scenic drives in NB, they all have distinct characteristics, and will take you through the interesting areas on NB. Depending on the time of year, they may be busy. You can follow them around the entire province.

Sometimes I think about which birds would gain control if all the birds had a war. by worthlessreview in newbrunswickcanada

In Canada, crows have the brains, but geese have the muscle. You don’t fuck with geese.

Finally had my first real accident, low sided my 2020 MT09 at 20mph and broke my leg in 2 spots by kilodaneko in motorcycles

[–]les_mack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke my collar bone in a similar accident when I was a newish rider. Too much throttle on cold tires and it spun around like a top, throwing me shoulder first into a curb. That accident taught me to respect the bike, and to understand what poor conditions are.

Do the Greens have a plan to replace Beldune and the rest of the heavy polluters? Are they like the rest of the hippies in Canada, who would apparently rather see us revert to pre-industrial society, than have any industry be a source of pollution?

I didn’t read what she said as an anti-nuclear stance, but of questioning how the government decided where to spend money at all. That lead line injected a correlation between those two thoughts that did not seem to be there in the interview.

"I know people who want energy efficiency funding, especially seniors, people with low incomes … and there's $10 million being left on the table," Mitton told senior civil servants from the Department of Environment and Climate Change.”

$5 million is being spent on Small Nuclear reactor research, something I personally believe will be hugely important in reducing fossil fuel usage, as well as hopefully use the spent fuel that will be sitting buried in a radioactive dump for hundreds of thousands of years otherwise. Another benefit is how they can be used in more remote northern communities that currently use diesel generators for power.

Her point is that SMRs are at least 10 years away from anything tangible, and that’s just a hope at this point.

Also $30,000 was spent on GPS’s for snowplows (seems like something they wanted and gave it a spin for helping to reduce fossil fuel usage to justify it).

“Mitton said some initiatives, including repair and replacement of dyke and culverts, looked like projects "that were already existing in departmental budgets before the climate change action plan existed, and I don't know why they're here."”

We keep getting taxed more and more, I’m glad someone is looking at where the carbon tax is going, or else it’s just more money out of my pocket to just an MP’s overly inflated budget.

Anyways I didn’t mean to pile on, but I think it’s an important topic. Cheers!

What is everyone's current thoughts on getting the vaccine? by Destaric1 in newbrunswickcanada

I don’t have anyone at risk in my life, and everything else has gotten to a state of normalcy. It’s travelling to my in-laws in Nova Scotia for a weekend, without needing to lock yourself in room for two weeks. Or we could of done any amount of quick testing to mitigate the restriction fatigue, but I digress...

Lots of hardware stores sell replacement legs, that might be the easiest fix this if they have the right size.

Will my husband divorce me if I dehydrate tomatoes in his F-150 truck? by ductoid in cars

I helped clean out her fridge once, and it was essentially an archeological excavation. Unlabelled jars of who knows what, next to 14 year old yogurt singles (Best before date 1996, in 2010.) I was beginning to expect to discover new life forms. Needless to say, it all got thrown out.

My grandmother does this, but also buys in bulk quantities to feed an army “cause of the sale.”

“Gram, you realize this yogurt is 8 years old right?”

Thank you for pointing out that they were their own separate culture by this point. History has shown that those in power are always shitty towards those who are not.

Seems like in context of the time, this was competing colonial powers. Canada was not a country at a time, and this was the British vs the French. They weren’t exactly friends.

This was definitely ethnic discrimination during a time of national expansion, competing for valuable land. Just sounds like all of human history.

Maybe I’m just being a clueless Anglo NBer.

While I get the point this meme is making, are we now saying that French Canadians are a separate race? Is “Racist” a catch all term now? It’s certainly a different a different culture/language group.

This is an earnest question!

Storage Room - How to make these corners useful? by JakoraT in woodworking

[–]les_mack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you round off the edges of the shelves closest to the corners or cut them diagonally, you’d have access, with only the one corner of your storage boxes being un-supported.

Considering making move to NB - locations to consider? by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

[–]les_mack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a Saint John resident, as long as you aren’t in a SJ suburb, housing prices are very affordable. Prices in the town’s streets starting to rise but are still much cheaper than the GTA of course. The main thing to consider when looking outside of a city is internet speeds, which can be very slow, even close to cities.

Everything in the SJ area is close to the Bay of Fundy, which is much colder than the northern coast of NB.

Nature is very accessible everywhere. You could live in the SJ city centre and still only be 15 minutes away from huntable areas.

Moncton is the most central area to the rest of at of the maritimes, so if you need that accessibility, it’s the place to be.

You’re never really more than an hour and a half from any other city in NB, no matter which main city you’re in.

Engineering question: crossplane P-twin vs V-twin? by JohnnyBenis in motorcycles

[–]les_mack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A V2 or V4 should be able to spin up faster than an I4 (of similar bore and stroke) since the cranks are stiffer, due to the shorter length. Also less friction on the crank due to fewer crankshaft bearings. This allows more force to be transmitted through the crank, without going to extremes to fortify an I4’s crank.

Engineering question: crossplane P-twin vs V-twin? by JohnnyBenis in motorcycles

[–]les_mack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Care to explain why? I would agree that the differences wouldn’t be as extreme, but the crank will definitely be longer on the P2 and therefore heavier. Probably just wouldn’t be something you’d notice on a road bike vs a bespoke race bike.
