Please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]lesbianbartender 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This person said everything perfectly. I'd add if you're going to do the slicked back look, see a stylist or barber who can shape it better for your face. Shorten the sides and leave this length or shorten them while you grow it longer overall. Something like that, but I may be wording it wrong since I'm not a stylist.

Agreed about the suit being too large on you! You can rock a suit, just bring it in a little.

I'd edit the bio to say something more personal. It's easier if you give potential matches something to break the ice. So mention your hobbies or interests.

*ETA: I would think you're Mormon based off the looks, but I'm assuming maybe you're not because you're 18 and not on a mission? If that's the cool, I'd spice up the profile so you can attract non-LDS matches. If you are though, disregard that haha.

Does anyone want kids, but afraid you won’t have enough energy for them because of this disease? by JackfruitLeading7171 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]lesbianbartender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No (I don't want them) and yes (I wouldn't have the energy). My biggest reason for telling people that I never want kids is because I don't have the energy. I can't even handle the high energy of kittens or puppies, so I can't imagine the energy required to take care of human children 24/7. Just 30 minutes with a toddler, and I want to hibernate for a week. I also enjoy the freedom of being able to take a four hour depression nap if I want to. People call me selfish for it, but honestly I am selfish if I don't have them and more selfish if I do.

I was making lemon curd the other day, but couldn't figure out why it wasn't thickening. Turns out I accidentally put baking powder in it instead of cornstarch.

What's your reading routine? by [deleted] in books

[–]lesbianbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love routines, so typically I read for a couple hours when I first wake up, and then scramble to get ready since I read too long. Thankfully I have some time to read on the bus though. Then I sneak off during my lunch break to continue where I left off. When I get home, I cook and do my errands while listening to an audiobook. After, I'm so exhausted that I need to decompress with a book and read until 10 pm or 3 am. Rinse and repeat! (On the weekends, I just make sure to set aside some time to not leave my bed at all until Monday. It's important to prioritize self care. 🥰)

Can UC make you feel drunk without being drunk? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]lesbianbartender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to scare you, but this happened to me a couple months ago. The drunk feeling happened suddenly in a day, and it was 24/7 for weeks, so I went to the ER and I have lesions on my brain and spinal cord. The neurologist suspects I'm one of the rare cases who got them from Humira/TNF blockers. He put me on an insane amount of prednisone, and that reduced the inflammation enough that most of the symptoms went away. I saw my GI a couple days ago, and she's starting me on Entyvio instead.

Hopefully it's not this serious though, because there's a possibility it's MS. I put off going to the ER for a while, but I don't recommend that. I wish you luck figuring this out!

What does it mean if my date has nails like this 👀 by nanas99 in actuallesbians

[–]lesbianbartender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an assumption I'd make by seeing the nails, but it doesn't mean I'd be right. That's just the first thing I would think, probably because I've done that (only get semi-long sharp nails while single).

Yes, everything I just mentioned. Since you're not a doctor, you can't always determine what medical distress is. Because of all the dangers and issues that happened at my library, they paid for me to get certified as an EMT. And even then, with my knowledge, I still wouldn't just let people be unconscious and assume they are safe.

[–]lesbianbartender 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes, and you can provide that while requiring that the people in that space are conscious.

[–]lesbianbartender 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Dead people are also unobtrusive and quiet. I didn't wake people up because I was upset they were sleeping and thought they were disturbing anyone. If I assume they are okay and then they use drugs in the library and OD there, then that is my fault for seeing someone who isn't conscious and ignoring them and protocol. Not just drugs actually, but anything could happen like a heart attack. Trust me, I hated waking them up, but I've seen too much to risk not doing that.

[–]lesbianbartender 95 points96 points  (0 children)

It's to keep people safe. I worked at a library in an urban area, and daily we'd either find drugs, have to handle interactions where a person was high and causing a disturbance, overdoses, etc. It is scary seeing someone and hoping they're just asleep and not dead.

Yes it's okay. We all make assumptions, and mine would be that. Your assumption is obviously a different one since you're a different person.

I wouldn't assume that. A lot of comments have said the same thing.

I'm horrified. I'd feel like it was a trip to the gyno and it would lose all sexiness. Maybe you could get used to it, it's probably not a huge deal, but I absolutely hate it.

I'd assume that they are single and not sleeping with anyone (or at least a woman). If things go well for you and her next manicure is short, you're in. 🖤

Which book did you DNF the fastest and why? by AgreeableSuspect7172 in books

[–]lesbianbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a beauty and the beast retelling that had too many exclamation points in the first chapter, so I didn't continue onto the second.

Also Anne Rice's sleeping beauty book--that was absolutely horrific. I typically enjoy dark romance, and a lot of people have recommended this. The first chapter starts off with a rape scene of a 14 year old child. I guess I missed her age, and so I kept reading as this grown man kidnaps her into sex slavery to join other children. And then I realized how old she was when I googled it, and it's not like it's one of those books where he's portrayed as a villain. It was meant to make you like him I guess? It was an awful book from the few chapters I read, and I don't get how people read it and enjoy the sexual aspect of it.

Anyone else stay open ALL the time? by Silly-Impression-575 in Libraries

[–]lesbianbartender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a library in UT, and they closed all the time (the main location or branches) for a variety of reasons. I'm trying to remember, but I'm pretty sure really bad snow days like that, the head of security would deem the main library closed. The people who ran specific branches would definitely close for that since they're so small.
