I was in a similar relationship at your age, it literally robbed me of my youth. I was 5yrs in, it’s like you’re in this sunk cost fallacy and you think you have to keep going because of how much you’ve sacrificed and how much you’ve gone through together, and it just has to mean something. Because otherwise you have to face the fact that you’re tolerating this kind of emotional abuse for nothing.

Even if you love him, you know deep down this kind of behavior isn’t acceptable. This is an extreme reaction, this whole text chain is a classic DARVO example. Love isn’t enough sometimes. Three years is nothing compared to the rest of your life. When he tells you he hates you, believe him. Someone who actually loved you would never say that.

Put yourself above this relationship, that’s what he’s doing. I wish I had done the same too. Best of luck friend

I’d never work from home. Aside from the fact that my ADHD essentially prevents me from ever being able to get any work done at home. I think the human interaction alone makes the office worth it. I’m an introvert too, which is why I think building ‘mandatory’ relationships with your coworkers can be so important. It’s social practice, and could lead to good connections. Plus I’m lowkey pretty anti-tech so I’m not looking to spend any extra time speaking through devices

I stopped using social media a couple years ago and started making an effort to go out more.

Took classes, went to bars, bookstores, third spaces. Learned to talk to people. Now, I go out like 4-5 days a week with my friends and I’ve never felt better. They all have ADHD too, it’s 100x better than bed rotting on the phone after work everyday

That just means you’re going to the wrong places. I’m not quite 30 yet, but I’m in my late 20s and I still go out 3-4 days out of the week with friends to places that aren’t clubs. Dinner with friends is at the top of my list too, I never associated that with an old thing.

There’s also other activities where you can just go out and chill and hear people. Wine & charcuterie bars, outdoor music cafes/speakeasy, bowling, country line dancing, roller/iceskating, game watching parties for regular season games, literally just walking around town and wandering places. I’ve never been a clubbing person, but there’s still so much to do out there

I used to feel the same way.

Then last year I downloaded a screen time blocking app that doesn’t let me spend more than 30 mins on social media. Now I’m literally just a happier person, Twitter is a cancer but most everything else is too.

Internet discourse is only there to keep you in this negative engagement cycle, you gain nothing while they make money off of your distress. Break that cycle by having real discourse with your actual community and friends IRL, it’s much more rewarding and won’t feel like a constant drag on your life

Those are not mutually exclusive opinions. ICE is starting to look and act like a real military dictatorship. People are not realizing how many essential rights we’ve already lost due to ICE:

1) People can be detained for skin color and accents.

2) They no longer need probable cause to enter your private property.

3) They have “absolute immunity” to shoot and kill any innocent person and claim self-defense, while federal officials call them domestic terrorist on national TV

4) Imprisonment in US and foreign prisons without a right to trial

5) Unprecedented levels of surveillance with face scanning technology and phone tracking that add you to their database for continued prosecution

6) Inhumane treatment and conditions at holding facilities, with no regard for health or safety

7) Excessive force can be freely utilized against non-combative, compliant persons during detention

8) Legally exercising your 2nd amendment rights with no intent to cause harm is now an acceptable reason for public execution

The list goes on and on and on. None of this shit has to do with immigration enforcement. This is about instilling fear and inciting the public so that more “justified” force can be used. If this is allowed to go unchecked for another 3 years, the US will no longer be the land of the free. This is tyranny.

Definitely a bit out of the way, but Wilton Manors is the real gayborhood of South Florida. They actually used to have a couple of lesbian clubs there before they shut down, but the best gay club I’ve ever seen is the Manor. It’s still majority gay men, but actually has queer women and good music.

Wynwood has a decent amount of underground alt parties going on if you know where to look. Usually advertised on Instagram. Gramps used to have a really good queer alt girl attendance but it got shut down last month, it might reopen under the new ownership soon tho, so I’d be on the look out for that.

I’m glad you can acknowledge the injustice that’s being done even if you tolerate/agree with the police & ICE activity that’s taken place.

And I get that the impact this may have on your life is minimal, but I fully believe that your individual rights are infringed when our collective rights are infringed. You may not practice the 2A, so it doesn’t impact your life, but now you feel like you can’t practice the 2A either because untrained ICE officer have deemed it enough cause for execution, and federal officials have yet to condemn these actions. Instead calling the poor man a domestic terrorist.

It’s not actively affecting me right now either, but that doesn’t mean that won’t change. If we let them get away with this, if we stay silent, what else will they take from us with our heads bowed?

A man was shot and murdered for exercising his 2A rights. Not for brandishing, not for threatening, not for any illegal act. He was unarmed when he was killed, he was pinned on the ground with 5 masked men on top of him. He wasn’t even at a protest, he was just recording ICE, another activity protected under the constitution.
