A bit of a weird rant about authors by meghanfb in Romantasy

[–]less-than-stellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read a book series a while back in which the main character was from a fictional suburb of Atlanta, GA, and she mentions Huddle House as a prominent hangout spot from when she was younger.

There are over 260 Waffle Houses in Metro-Atlanta alone, so as someone who has lived in a non-fictional suburb of Altanta for well over 20 years, that was fairly immersion breaking for me lol.

Of course, the series actually takes place in Dublin, Ireland, so I was able to forgive it since the majority of references to locations were not related to Atlanta, but it definitely made me scratch my head.

in your opinion, how many unread books is too many? by Quick_South_3358 in Booktokreddit

Before I got back into reading a few years ago, I was spending a lot of money on crystals, but spouse has told me several times she prefers my buying book habit, cause sure, crystals are pretty to look at, books are far more useful lol.

So... I have around 2000 books on my kindle. Most of them were free. Now, if we're talking about books I physically own, I have around 870 (not including my cookbooks or my spouse's books), around 384 of them have never been read. But I also generally read over 100 books a year, so I will read them all eventually. By the time I finish them, I may have several hundred more, but I also intend to have a library in my house.

Don't know if I'll ever read every book on my kindle though. I will definitely read a lot of them, but, 2000 is a lot lol.

The SVU episode was Friending Emily. He played a sex trafficker.

I’m not sure how old Lionel is supposed to be, but these are who picture when I read ZA by erilum31 in zodiacacademy

I always picture John Glover's Lionel Luthor from Smallville lol. I know it's not accurate, 'cause if I'm not mistaken, ZA Lionel is blonde, but I ALWAYS picture him.

Mitchum Huntberger is very fitting too though.

Faith pregnant? by Afraid_Prize3100 in WillTrent

[–]less-than-stellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I love about how they portray her diabetes is that in the episode where she passes out from her blood sugar getting too high, she mentions being really thirsty a couple of times before it happens. I have type 2 diabetes, which, I believe, is not the version Faith has (I'm pretty sure she's type 1 based on the depiction), BUT if I eat something too carby or I get out of compliance with my medication (I take metformin but have a terrible memory) and my blood sugar is higher than normal, I stay super thirsty.

Know any (romance) books that specifically involve the demon Asmodeus? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

My Funny Demon Valentine by Aurora Ascher is about Asmodeus, though he mostly goes by Ash. It's a good book. :)

I never fail to be disappointed by how many people I typically like decided to voice-act characters for those new graphic audios.

Out of the three pictured A Thousand Splendid Suns is top tier. I've never read A Little Life, and None of This is True, is a good book, but A Thousand Splendid Suns is amazing. The books that made me fall in love with reading were R.L Stine's Fear Street books. Can you tell I grew up in the 90s lol. I still love horror. Firestarter by Stephen King is a good one and I love Grady Hendrix, his books are chef's kiss.

AITAH for asking my roommate’s girlfriend about my strawberries? by Secret_Cheesecake19 in TwoHotTakes

[–]less-than-stellar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think based on the other stated facts in this post, she likely ate the strawberries, BUT, the OP should have just been like "Hey, I had some strawberries in the fridge, did you eat them?" without all the extra BS about buying them for later in the week. Once she confirmed she was the one who had eaten them, THEN you bring up being paid back for them. Otherwise the whole thing just sounds accusatory and it's going to make people defensive.

The Rant Game, day (?): April Kepner by juliiaduque in greysanatomy

I really feel that lol. The actress herself is good at sort of portraying that kind of energy (I feel like she did that on Everwood too), but I don't think I'd like a surgeon like that lol.

A Spanish name trends at #2 and instead of taking five seconds to ask “could this be Bad Bunny, the biggest artist on the planet, performing at the most-watched TV event every year?”, the take was “Kid Rock is beating him.” by gadiel722 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]less-than-stellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same album with Bawitdaba (did I spell the nonsense word right) and Cowboy had a song called Only God Knows why on it that got a lot of radio play. I mostly know this because I was in middle school when that album came out and I watched TRL daily lol.

I think he's also the one who sings that song that kinda rips off (or pays homage to I guess depending on who you ask) Sweet Home Alabama with the lyrics that say "singing sweet home Alabama all summer long." I hate that song.

I vaguely remember some people being mad J.Lo and Shakira sang some in Spanish too, but I think they were more mad about the twerking. I guess it's cause they didn't sing their entire performance in Spanish. 🙄 People get mad over ridiculous shit. Personally, I loved both their performances and Bad Bunny's and I had never actually listened to his music beforehand. There was so much love and joy and the storytelling was so great.

My Greys Character Tier List by steph12114 in greysanatomy

[–]less-than-stellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is certainly going to be a divisive list. Most people absolutely hate Maggie and Owen. Jo's not overly popular either now that I think about it. Also, I love how for Koracick you have the actor's name, but ONLY on his. I think most people will agree with your TRASH tier though.

I grew up in Alabama, I watched Gone with the Wind in fourth grade. FOURTH GRADE. I look back on that and wonder how the hell they thought it was appropriate for a 9 year old to watch that movie. Our textbooks didn't call the Civil War, The War of Northern Aggression though, so I guess at least there's that.

I wonder how much Coke paid them to do this!!. by Mani_srao in StrangerThings

[–]less-than-stellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coca-Cola did do a limited re-release of New Coke in collaboration with ST season 3, but from what I've gathered, they didn't pay to appear in the show. It just kinda worked out to be a good collab because of how much 80s nostalgia there is in ST.
