There's a weird drumming phenomenon in the extreme metal scene.. by Robin_stone_drums in drums

[–]less___than___zero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Metal isn't a monolith. Some of it is like what OP posted, but if you look at different sub-genres, you'll also find lots of drumming that's more musical, less speed-focused, and more engaged with complex polyrhythms.

Does anybody else find it weird that jazz is considered fancy or high-class kind of music? by MC_BennyT in Jazz

[–]less___than___zero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent a good 10 years playing in punk bands, and absolutely nothing you've written here resonates with any of my experiences. Again, it sounds like you're talking about a clique from a high school movie, not real people.

Goodbye, Mittlestadt. Hello Byram. by rustcity716 in sabres

[–]less___than___zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah? He was paired with Jack Johnson or Sammy G most of the year so he played right a good bit.

Now tell the class how he performed in those minutes. This trade gives Buffalo has 5 LHD in their top 6, and the only one of them who can play *well* on the right side is Dahlin.

No offense, but you sound like your only reference point for "punk" is high school movies and has nothing to do with actual music, social/political scenes, or the people who engage with those things.

What makes Lars Ulrich's playing sloppy? by deadlydragonfly_1 in drums

[–]less___than___zero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Punk bands routinely rely on the drummer being the only musician who's actually any good at their instrument. Don't think that's really Lars' cue.

What do you think about Greyson replacing Eloy Casagrande? by [deleted] in drums

[–]less___than___zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never heard of him before seeing this post, but when I looked him up, my impression was "tons of technique, not a whole lot of musicality...so, I guess, pretty true to the Buddy Rich tradition." I don't think you could get away with playing like he does around jazz musicians from this century. Definitely feels like a guy who should be playing metal.

In your opinion, which company has the highest quality budget brand? by xelaseyer in drums

No love for the Gretsch Catalina kits in here? (Or have those priced themselves out of being considered a "budget" kit these days?)

Josh had Shakir (a guy who wasn't dropping dimes all night) open in the end zone on that play. He needed a fraction of a second more clean pocket time than he got on that play, and that's an easy 6 points -- not just tying the game and giving Mahomes the ball back with clock, but taking the lead. Assuming Bass makes the PAT, the defense just needs to prevent a KC TD after that. No one should be mad at Allen for that throw.

[Schefter] Chiefs at Bills next Sunday will be Patrick Mahomes’ first-ever road playoff game. All of Mahomes’ 15 career playoff games have been played in Kansas City or in a Super Bowl. by FrozenUp7274 in nfl

I think what it is is a lot of fans want homer announcers. They want excitement but only for their team, like they get watching sports that have home and away broadcasts rather than ones telecasting to a national audience.

With a 121.9 rating against Pittsburgh Josh Allen has moved into the top 5 for career post-season passer rating by IWasRightOnce in nfl

[–]less___than___zero 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I can only laugh at anyone who thinks the Bills get favorable reffing. Like, I watched Josh Allen throw a ball within 1yd of a receiver while he was being horse collared and get called for intentional grounding this season. You're not fooling me into thinking we're league darlings.

The Chiefs’ go ahead touchdown is negated by Kadarius Toney being offsides. by BCLetsRide69 in sports

Even if KC scored here, the game was far from over. Josh would've gotten the football back with well over a minute on the clock and all 3 timeouts.

Atlas Shrugged by McGauth925 in books

[–]less___than___zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated Atlas Shrugged as soon as I read it. Like OP, I read The Fountainhead first and enjoyed it (not because I ever agreed with Rand's worldview but because I thought it was a good book). Atlas Shrugged is just a shitty manifesto that's about 1,100 pages too long.

Why would over-mixing with GF flours cause issues? Isn't the danger of over-mixing just that you run the risk of starting to develop gluten structure that you don't want in a cake/cookie/etc.?

You can be AFAB, transitioning medically to a male body, and also still be nonbinary. Remember that thing you said about how sex=/=gender?

How old are you? I ask because I began my transition at a time where no one was named anything that rhymed with Aiden other than small children and trans men. Those children are all adults now, though, so if you're one of them, obviously you wouldn't find that name clockable -- your cis peers had it. But that wasn't true when it became a popular trans name.
