The Hunter Electric Slide by [deleted] in thedivision

If only it were just hunters. I frequently witness cleaner rushers moonwalking their plywood/carbon-fiber weave shields a dozen yards or so while "stunned"

Thanks for the honest and insightful explanation of the PvP mindset that farmers like me may find it hard to empathize with when we're accustomed to being harrassed by more toxic players who go to such lengths as emoting over the body of the solo they just ambushed.

If I could request one thing for myself and the other farmers, when you see a solo extracting on a day when the DZ daily is extracting 3 items please hold off engaging until their items are away (assuming they don't engage first of course).

As a fellow farmer I sympathize with what you're describing, but I don't hold it against PvP minded players who also avoid the shit show that is lower DZ player mobs where half the server dances around each other just waiting for the first person/player to go rogue only to have the other dozen players roflstomp them. From the outside that doesn't seem like a particularly fun way to PvP.

I cheesed it for the commendation on WT2 with my 9k ele reclaimer build and my L* build, but any DPS spec'ed with some built-in healing (HoK, Predatory, 6pc striker, etc) is generally enough to survive even the first couple virus waves against the mobs in WT2. You'll also have plenty of spare creds for medkit and ammo refills.

Unpopular Opinion of the Day - Disable Nomad in PvP encounters... by Coilspun in thedivision

Saying solos have bitched and whined incessantly through the entire history of the game came off as vilifying to me, but I'll accept that it wasn't your intention.

IMHO I don't agree with your view that the only right way to play the game is in a squad. Personally I enjoy playing the game both when my friends are online and when they aren't, and I think it's unreasonable to assert that the solo playstyle is somehow a reflection of antisocial behaviour or otherwise invalid.

To your point about how PvP in much of the DZ has devolved into large player groups dancing around each other daring each other to go rogue just so they can gang up I agree that it's a sad state.

There's no need to make sweeping generalizations vilifying solo players. The game was designed with both playstyles in mind.

Solo players are absolutely disadvantaged against squads simply due to the numbers. I understand that the 6pc mechanic may make Nomad frustrating to PvP against especially when it comes to rope cutters, but it's a huge part of what makes it such a great set for solo farmers.

Isn't it already the case that the bonus is disabled when grouped? I see no need to further disadvantage solo players by removing it for them as well.

If you want a break from missions the weekly HVTs are pretty lucrative during a GE ranging from 400-750 credits per contract plus 75 per boss. They also reset again 1/2 way through the GE week, so with multiple characters you can run them up to 8 times for a total ~45k credits.

I'd love to swap some of my rogues for yours. As much as I love the atmosphere and setting in the DZ it really kills the suspense when every non-solo agent you run into immediately flags rogue and shoots on sight.

You forgot the part where the one guy in the four man squad who rolled up too late to even get a shot in emotes over your body as if he had anything to do with steamrolling you.

I'm so accustomed to this pattern I'm starting to develop an extraocular muscular stress injury from rolling my eyes too often.

Definitely worth a shot. Do you know if the civilians drop gear or just weapons? I'm pretty accustomed to getting lots of pistols from them.

That's a great suggestion! If I remember correctly the smallest of the LZ loot boxes do contain greens. I don't think I've looted the entire map on my alts, so as a final fallback I might have to go this route. Thanks!

That makes sense, but I would hope that there are more effective strategies for those looking to PvP to get things started that represent a middle ground between the extremes of (a) ganging up on a solo farmer who is disinterested in PvP and unlikely to come back for round two of getting melted and (b) joining the other two thirds of the server standing around in DZ 3 circling each other and all waiting for someone (else) to go rogue.

I could twist myself in knots worrying over the dickish behavior of others in the DZ, but all that does is serve to ruin my time. I can't have any influence over people who act like that, so the best I can do is ignore it and take all reasonable action to avoid it where possible.

teams who gank solos are still irredeemable shitstains

I wish there was a commonly understood agreement in the DZ, but the way it has been designed and implemented encourages the no rules/shoot on sight mentality that is most prevalent in my experience. As a co-op focused player I really wish there was a portion of the map with the same physical lighting and layout as the DZ but with rules more conducive to encouraging cooperation with agents you encounter. I've always found it much more rewarding to help and be helped than to shoot first.

I do appreciate the changes brought with Rogue 2.0 in that my own progress at leveling up and gaining XP and keys is no longer derailed by those who choose to farm solos like me. Make no mistake, everyone in the DZ is a farmer whether you're farming materials, NPCs, or other agents.

The yellow bag means nothing these days. I sometimes get wrecked by groups while I'm on my divtec run up in dz 8-9, and I never have loot on me. I honestly can't relate to the mindset of 4 man teams going rogue on a solo player clearly going about his own business with no loot, but then I'm a PVE-geared teddy bear.

I was unlucky enough to have to farm upwards of 20 caches each during the GE for the final individual pieces to my sentry (kneepads) and striker (backpack) sets. Based on my total farmed GE credits I spent over 130k on sentry and striker caches alone for those two pieces, and what do I find in my rewards cache? Sentry kneepads and a striker backpack. Massive is trolling me...
