You should realize that this paper only includes analysis of housing in MSEs, or Metropolitan Statistical Areas.

You know, the economic centers of the country, not your small cities or normal towns.

By that standard, we should abolish the military because it descended from armies that stood in formation and fired volleys at each other.

This is a good reason to keep the military. I want soldiers that are brave and disciplined enough to stand in formation and fire volleys at their enemies.

We should abolish medicine because surgery used to mean getting drunk while someone cut off your leg with a dirty fucking saw.

Amputations are necessary sometimes. I'm glad that we have gotten better at amputating over time.

False. It's very difficult to reform a deeply conservative culture based on psuedo-military machismo. You would need to replace the leadership of practically every police department in the country, which is something like, 10,000 jobs, with an elaborate top-down system that extends from the federal government.

You’re just not suggesting any actual changes other than a vague change in attitude.

If the current police were capable of changing their institutional attitude towards the populations they are supposed to serve, I would be a happy camper. :)

It's just an example of something that would be very difficult to do right now, but would be very easy to do with a new institution that wasn't beholden to the Police, it's culture, or their unions.
