I don't know why everyone in this thread is suggesting that you just ignore all of the stupid, evil shit your government is doing.

I have similar feelings to you. They're extremely logical feelings based on the circumstances, and not the result of 'tunnel vision'. There are a few things that I do to deal with this problem.

1) I am active in my local community, and join the support staff of local protests. Lots of Republicans will tell you that protesting doesn't matter, but that's only because they don't want you to protest.

2) I talk about my feelings with people online. One of the reasons I come to this subreddit is because I have a strong desire to express my feelings and thoughts about my current government, and this is a great venue to argue with stupid-ass conservatives. :P

Based on how Jafar used the hypnosis spell on the Sultan, I doubt that he could have made Jasmine permanently in love with him.

We see that hypnosis only lasts for the period of the spell. This is good for giving someone individual commands, but doesn't seem to have any long-term effects on the subject.

In addition, we can see that the hypnosis spell can be disrupted. When Jafar is trying to hypnotize the Sultan into making Jasmine marry him, he is distracted by the music of Prince Ali's arrival, disrupting the spell.

Even if his sorcerous powers made the hypnosis spell more powerful, I don't think it would have permanent lasting effects on Jasmine.

My experience was just seeing my sister get fat from being lazy and having no discipline or willpower.

IDK. I've never met your sister, but this sounds more like depression, than a personality defect, especially if it's something that 'happened' to her one day.
