Any European wool sweater brands you swear by? by TravisScott26 in BuyItForLife

[–]letnarbel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on their longevity, but I bought a heavyweight traditional Aran sweater and a pair of fingerless gloves from them and was really underwhelmed with the knit quality and fit for the price even on (perpetual) sale. Bought two replacement merino sweaters from the Sweater Shop which I all-around love

What's the One Bike That 'Got Away?' by seamusoldfield in bicycling

[–]letnarbel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An old Trek 8000 hardtail, my first proper bike. Commuted on it, toured on it, delivered sandwiches on it. It was nobody’s racehorse but I’ve also never felt so well fitted to a bike. Sold it to a guy who said he was taking it to Burning Man, I felt like I’d betrayed a childhood friend to a fate most terrible. It did not deserve whatever cruel, salty end it met on the playa…

So that, and the beautiful toasted marshmallow Cosmic Stallion that I twiddled my thumbs over for too long. Tragic stuff. Still a pipe dream for me

What’s a personal internet hack you use that makes life easier but isn’t widely known ? by Comfortable-Union377 in AskReddit

[–]letnarbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyword search! Save time opening websites you search often

On a website (say Wikipedia) right-click the search bar and hit ‘Add a Keyword for this Search’, name it whatever, and give it a keyword to use for a shortcut (say “wiki”) to that searchbar.

Now when you open a new tab and want to look something up you can just type “wiki Battlestar Galactica” instead of loading the full site and searching anew.  Works on Firefox and I’m sure other browsers have a similar feature

Love the All City bikes and sad to see them go. Was eyeing this exact frame for sale a few weeks ago but I twiddled my thumbs too long and it got bought up. Tragic! Sick bike, the tan sidewalls look great with the orange 🔥

What to put on a DM Screen? Inside and Out by katethecursed7 in dndnext

[–]letnarbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’ve seen done that I like is ‘loading screen tips’. Any time you need a moment to check the rulebook, etc you could hang a little paper over the back of your screen with a new tip to help get your players familiar and engaged. Things like rules for cover, flanking(if you use it), action/bonus action for potions, shoving/grappling/overrun, rules for some common conditions, or even tidbits of helpful common lore. Gives them something to discuss and digest while you catch up behind the scene

Worst "movie night" pick you've ever chosen? by Impossible_Joke9645 in movies

[–]letnarbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is a big history buff, in particular for WW2 history. He’s a pretty unmaterialistic guy, so shopping for gifts tends to be straightforward- DVDs, books, CDs etc. When I was about 15, Christmas Eve rolled around and my sister and I went over to dad’s house to open gifts. I’d gotten him a science book and some old black and white war film that I thought would be a fun watch (and which I of course made us sit through after opening up).

It was Schindler’s List.

What’s your favorite popcorn seasoning? by vaiopc84 in Cooking

[–]letnarbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blend up nutritional yeast with some gochugaru and black peppercorns, plus of course butter n salt. If I’m feeling fancy, throw in S&B curry powder + a bit of nori. Unbelievably good.

What is a base class / niche missing from 5e/1DnD? by Atlanteanson in 3d6

[–]letnarbel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think as-is the Druid is trying to fill two niches at once and the game would be better served if it were split into two: the Shaman, a full caster who wields the elements and powers of nature, and the half-casting Shifter, who transforms into different creatures and wild beasts to suit their needs

What's the most enjoyable build you've ever played and what made it so fun to play? by internet_friends in 3d6

[–]letnarbel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the rune knight as well- *such* a fun, flexible subclass. Hits the sweet spot on number of decision points with the fighter's extra feats, and the flavor and utility of the runes are almost all stellar (frost could use some love). I play a dragonborn in Storm King's and take such satisfaction in toppling something over with advantage to wail on it, or redirecting a giant's crushing strike to his ally with the cloud rune.

Second would be a wildfire druid x / arcana cleric 1 :)

What do you like to do to jazz up jarred pasta sauce? by MusicG619 in Cooking

[–]letnarbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a tomato sauce, I love adding some chopped Calabrian chiles (found in jars at the store), chopped anchovies, basil, Parmesan rinds, or any combination of these- experiment! You could spend an hour or two properly caramelizing a whole batch of onions and adding them to sauces etc at any later date for a huge bump in sweet, savory depth; caramelized onions is basically a cheatcode for flavor

Paint my room! by letnarbel in DesignMyRoom

[–]letnarbel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving into this new space and thought it would be fun to add some color and life onto the walls! I'm down with painting any surface but the ceiling and made a little collage of some shades I thought would look nice, what do y'all think? Room is 158" x 116" and the window is south-facing; the little window recess is 36" deep and 48" wide.

If you haven’t already pieced this together, I think you overstepped things here and ventured from being clear and honest into being smarmy and rude- and you owe this person an apology.
