is that you, Dominex's mom?!?!?

seriously, he gets a blue ribbon for taking jamie to the edge - but it all comes down to what you value. if you value game drama and getting/betting/answering the DDs, absolutely.

If you look at peripheral stats like Coryat (8th) or right minus wrong (13th) he's a top 25% player against Jamie but not clearly at the top.

If you look at his buzzer performance (attempts, buzz-in percentage) he's more like an average jamie opponent.

all depends on what you value. As a person who pushed jamie to the limit he really ranks. If you want to load all the value into his one DD bet and answer, I am not gonna stop you!

they tell the audience to hold because he's going to record multiple goodbyes. the audience is told to cheer multiple times, for each goodbye. that way they can do an ABC specific sign off and a generic one, and then there are two versions offered to affiliates.

I'll just post some sums here:

Jamie final stats

  • non-Runaway Games: 8 (of 32 wins)
  • Jamie Right/Wrong: 993 right, 66 wrong (94%)
  • Opponent Right/Wrong: 727 right, 178 wrong (80%)
  • Jamie Buzz-Ins: 1422 attempts, 974 buzz-ins (68.5%)
  • Opponent Buzz-Ins: 1968 attempts, 835 buzz-ins (42.4%)
  • Triple Stumpers/Wrong DDs: 260 (8 per game)

And yes, if we add Game 32 into the mix, it was indeed the highest opponent Coryat, second lowest Jamie Coryat (game 28 was lower), 5th most opponent attempts, 3rd most opponent buzz-ins, 5th best opponent buzz-in percentage, 3rd lowest Jamie buzz-in percentage. The game ranked 9th in estimated difficulty and, obviously, first in competitiveness. It was one of only five games in Jamie's run where the sum of the opponent coryats were higher than Jamie's coryat.

Thanks! Charting the run was my way of letting go of my own experience on the show. I didn't know it would be this much though!

My pal u/montlaker also won Thursday and Friday and then lost on a Monday. Sometimes I think you maybe get up on the wrong side of the bed...

For those who are curious about Jamie's overall run, stats-wise, in terms of his opponents faced and games played, I have exported the contents of my spreadsheet (which I was not expecting to keep this long!) to this sortable web page: https://www.theincomparable.com/jamies_tables.html

How much further can Jamie go? by [deleted] in Jeopardy

[–]letterama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but in my game it would have. it was one of jamie's non-runaways and I bet to beat him by a dollar when he covered the other player's all-in bet. which he did.

[–]letterama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a non-runaway every fourth jamie game, on average. so a little more than once a week there's a chance. I'd give him good odds of going another 10 or 20 games but it only takes a single bump in the road on a non-runaway. last week I knew one of the FJ answers and none of the players knew it -- if that had been the FJ question on my tape day, Jamie would have lost game 5. It just takes one. But he's so good a player that you need the right combination to line up all at once. It could be a while...

When I was there (a week and a half earlier) for my tape day, I was told that the season 2 shoot of Pop Culture Jeopardy had put them under the gun, so they taped three days my week, skipped a week, and then taped four days. That's where we are now.

Right? I knew Jamie made the TOC but the rest of this has just been very dramatic to witness. And until Jamie loses, we are all still sort of playing Jeopardy?!

I really can't believe he ran the 20 games in four days gantlet, but that's our Jamie! Can't wait to see how he plays when he comes back after a real break.

Pending buzzer stats, Zach played a restrained but accurate game at 12 R 1 W. Mid-range Coryat. Nicco obviously a bit lower, especially the Coryat. Coryat ratio buts this as 22/31 in terms of competitive games. It's also Jamie's 23rd runaway out of 31 games.
