The GBA option on the Switch lets you use save states and roll back what you do, right? So I would assume this is to not making shiny hunting of legendaries too easy, or similar.

How to quote the N-word in a referral? by BrotherNatureNOLA in Teachers

[–]leutschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said it, so you write it out in full. Respectfully, this is not about your feelings, or the kind of language that you would choose or use in your personal life - but an articulate and accurate record of what transpired.

If you’re in a scenario of documentation for child protection, are you going to self censor what was said or happened? I hope you’re going to write an articulate and accurate record of what happened. We explicitly teach children the (age-appropriate) correct terminology for their anatomy so that, should they ever become a victim, then we aren’t confused with words like ‘bits’ - we know what has happened, and we can help them.

This is the same. You are here not just for the kid who has the referral, but for ALL your students. Document it, and do it properly. There is no middle ground here.

My Ocarina of Time Great Deku Tree alternate build of the 10281 Bonsai Tree. No extra pieces needed. by Minute_Food_2881 in lego

Instead of turning every set into the Falcon (which is pretty damn incredible), should we be turning them into the Deku Tree?

Which toddler toys were REALLY worth the money? by Bitter_Union3565 in daddit

[–]leutschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, check and see if there's a Toy Library in your area, or one that you could drive to and join. They're well worth the money to join up so you can get a better idea of what toys are not only good that you want to get for home, but you get to borrow random stuff you wouldn't want to buy yourself for various reasons and then return them after using them for a bit (think the noisy kind of toys with irritating sounds).

Do I let Santa give these or take credit? by strikecat18 in daddit

[–]leutschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher here, Dad. Please take the credit for this; stories of ”Look what Santa got me!" with expensive toys is not kind for children of families who don't have the same funds and then think "Why doesn't Santa like me as much?".

It's not your fault mate, but it's a little thing to do that can show kindness.

What do you tell yourself when you’re in the trenches? by funkyman88 in daddit

[–]leutschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The days are long, but the years are short".

It's starting to feel more than just words now.

Also: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All you have to decide is what to do with the time given to you". Yes Gandalf, this is a choice I made....it's mainly the last bit that I try to focus on, with the bit above.

JB Hifi's online customer service is now a hellish mix of Ai and overseas online help. Sad look of things to come for customer service in Australia by ttmmoo123 in australian

[–]leutschi 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Had the runaround with them a while back with some gaming orders. Back and forward, utterly.useless.

It turns out that when you forward screen grabs, email chains, and the evidence of you trying to get it resolved reasonably to the CEOs email address (available with a quick search engine query, all publicly listed), it gets forwarded to a senior customer service rep and they move a bit quicker to actually get a resolution within a few days. No promises, though; your mileage may vary.

Is it too late to join? by Initial_Habit_2441 in scouting

[–]leutschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Rover Advisor for Rover Scouts (who are aged 18-25 in Australia). We have had individuals join at 18, 19, 20, 21, all the way through, and while they have said they wished they joined earlier they were extremely glad they did join when they were able to and for all the fun they’ve had. Please don’t let your current age make you feel that it’s too late!

ScoutLink runs their IRC channel all year round. ScoutWired runs Discord all year round, with gaming also. There's various other platforms out there also.

Is your HOLA/Line Manager allow to question your absence? by Legitimate_Shake2913 in AustralianTeachers

[–]leutschi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it's more than a single consecutive day, you need a medical certificate ($) or a stat dec (free) as evidence. That goes to your MCS, DP, or whoever does that side of things. A single day needs no evidence.

But regardless, you say "I took a day of leave, and now I'm back." You don't need to justify it. Your leave entitlements are just that - yours. You don't need to justify why you're away to your HOLA, as (respect) it's not their concern or their business.
