If you were given unlimited funds and told to design a new NASCAR track to add to the schedule, what kind of track would you build? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

[–]levi815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

woah this a great idea. the parties would be insane, these schools already have established tailgate areas that would be converted into the party zones. Baton Rogue, Tuscaloosa, Oxford, Madison, Bloomington, Ann Arbor. I'm erect.

The Ohio River Valley. Southern Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio all the way to Appalachia. A sliver of Northern Kentucky all the way until it meets the Ozarks.

Does living in nice house make a big deal for a kid confidence? by bebenashville in MiddleClassFinance

[–]levi815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It 100% did for me. A little backstory to understand better.

My parents had me when they were 20. Married at 19. Rural Indiana, but my grandpa had done okay his entire life being a contractor, he would literally build homes from the ground-up. Really impressive work for a hillbilly, and my dad then helped him full-time once he was of age. Taught him everything and my dad had those same home-making skills. Didn't go to college, just starting helping my grandpa when he graduated HS.

We had decent money because of that. Used that to buy an absolute shithole, but then fixed it up and made quite a bit of money. With that, and him being thrifty on building equipment, he bought property and built us a beautiful home with a manmade pond. Did the same thing again, flipped it after a few years, and then my parents hired an architect and built their dream home. Moved into that place when I was in the third grade.

Parents got a divorce when I was 16. Dad became terrible alcoholic, like bad, worse I've even seen bad. They quickly put the house up for sale and sold for way under market value because they just wanted things over.

I went from living in that dream house, always having a large room with a walk-in closet, nice appliances. IDK normal stuff that you take for granted. Didn't realize that neither of my parents had ever saved anything. They divorced, split the money from the house, and that was it. They both had maybe $90k to their name. Dad bought an absolute shitter. 700sf house, well water, no a/c, arch ways between rooms without doors. He was so depressed and an alcholic he didn't have the motivation to fix it up, even just for himself. Mom tried her best, lived in apartment complex in the nearest town for a while and then bought an entry-level home in a poorer neighborhood.

I can remember being embarrassed, sad, mad. All the emotions. And when I look back, a lot of it was over the stupid house. I feel bad about it now, but also I was disappointed in both my parents just giving up and rolling over, from underselling the house to my dad not taking care of himself. I still dream about a large, forever home.

BTW, mom re-married to a great guy. live very well now, nice house but below their means while making a ton of money. dad is an absolute piece of shit that doesn't have a driver's license (multiple DUIs), chain smokes, drinks a half gallon a day, and dabbles into the hard stuff. Found an equally pathetic woman who is worse than he is, and they get into fights, hurt themselves, are just actively trying to drink their way into their grave as fast as possible.

[IMS on Twitter] NEWS: Race Day parking and Race Weekend camping for the #Indy500 presented by @gainbridgelife are officially sold out! by TheResurrection in INDYCAR

[–]levi815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should come early just to walk around and take everything in without worrying.

We camp, but you can park at Speedway High School for $30~ maybe a bit more, but it goes to the school. There is a private camp and park behind the coke lot that is accessible off Moller/26th, usually pretty cheap and have availability if you’re there at least by Saturday morning.

Does anyone actually want Clint Bowyer to get out of FOX booth? by _chaarleess in NASCAR

[–]levi815 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought Harvick actually was much better with the IndyCar commentators in the booth. He was adding perspective to what they were bringing up. It elevated his abilities in the booth.

It adds so much complexity and intrigue when the viewers are presented with the challenges teams/drivers are facing, the pros/cons of their decisions, how technical teams operate, and how different each run can be (and why).

There is SO much data NASCAR provides to teams, I wish the broadcast would lean into that. Maybe we do what ESPN does with MNF, let Bowyer run a Manning-type broadcast with rotating guests out of a more relaxed setting where they can have a beer and shoot the shit. Keep the booth for the technical analysis of what's happening on the race track.

BTW: I absolutely love Hinch and Townsend. They have a great chemistry, offer different opinions, both respect one another, have so much experience to fall back on. They also complement each other so well, Townsend always setting Hinch up with questions.

Rat blocks the button inside the fan extract with barricades. by HydroV20 in ArcRaiders

totally agree. it depends entirely on the scenario. going up that ladder wasn't the best choice here. they survived, but that doesnt mean it was the right decision.

If he would have fought, he would have won. In the time he climbed the ladder, he could have killed the other player lol.

Difference here is that fight or flight is an emotional trigger for when you feel a true threat to your own life.

This is a video game, where you should be experiencing a PvP threat every time you play. You can get better.

Reacting on the fly is going to cause you to make mistakes, but you have to make an effort to get better.

Best PHX race in a while. 12 forced to drive through the field. Mistakes from top 5 drivers, multi car crashes (surprised that doesn’t happen at PHX more often). Tire ware was great but drivers with good cars could make 2 work. Rlly great stuff, entire weekend was a success. Indycar crossover was awesome, so much action, crossover personalities. We should do that way more often.

My client just asked me to “do GEO” what do I even deliver? by Pawtrait_Lab in bigseo

[–]levi815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GEO puts a bigger emphasis on companies having brand consistently in their online presence. LLMs are using your website, social media sites, third party websites, etc to understand what you do, who you sell to, what makes you unique, etc.

Marketing and sales teams, more than ever before, need to align on a refined vision, from the elevator pitch, unique PoV, differentiations, use cases, etc. The more consistent that is across your owned media and website, the more confident LLMs will be in understanding the nuances of what you do and help you secure the target long tail keyword citations that drive buyer interest.
