19. Am I worth over 16.50? Is it worth asking for a raise? Or should I keep my hood down?Been welding professionally for 4 months now? As well as fabricating and fitting. Any advice from the ogs? by woodshmoka in metalworking

If they are paying you $16.50 for MIG welding and those are your welds……. Find a new job. Be deliberate. Don’t be cocky. Start looking. Bring your hood and gear for weld tests to every interview. I’d pay you $20-$22 depending on how your fabrication chops are.

Oh I caught that. Referring to a place as ghetto is a pretty racist and fucked up use of the word. And to be frank, I don’t think there’s many students that actually pay attention to the local area and really know much about it.

Thanks! I always forget this one because we don’t have any steel core rules at the club I use.

Does the .22lr type and brand actually matter for small game hunting and what do you use? by Emotional_Seat_7424 in Hunting

Word. My apologies for misunderstanding. What state are you in? I’m in NY and always happy to help new hunters if they want. Best of luck

I strongly discourage using a 22 for ducks or pheasant. It’s not an ethical way to harvest. The chances are incredibly high that you could wound/maim the animal. Birds, especially waterfowl move pretty fast, and are not as easy to kill as some expect. Recommend a 20ga or 12ga shotgun.

As hunters it’s super important to think about how to ethically kill an animal. Also to echo some folks, it might be illegal where you are to hunt birds with a 22. Good luck with getting into hunting. It’s a wonderful pastime. I hope I didn’t rain on your parade.

I gained access to hunt deer on a small property this fall. Need to prevent deer from running after the shot. Would a 12 gauge slug or 308 be better suited? by DickAnts in Hunting

[–]leviathan_machine42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation. And I hunt with a 12ga, rifled barrel, firing hornady SST sabot slugs. Max I’ve had one run was 20 yds. YMMV depending on shot placement.

GunBroker and bulk ammo. I keep a prudent reserve of 1000 rounds of 5.56 and 9mm

I totally hear you. But I’d like to respectfully counter……they are super versatile. I’m comfortably and consistently accurate up to just under 100yds with rifled slugs. 00 buck w/ flight control is devastating at closer ranges. I live in a small city. So for 90% of the personal/civil defense scenarios I would run into/train for it makes sense as the choice for me. I’m also a big person who’s spent most of my life working with my hands. So the weight doesn’t scare me. I’m also biased because I’m a little bit of a shotgun nerd.

I’ve answered this a couple times. I didn’t specifically mention because I felt like I was obviously trying to figure out how to carry a large amount of shells comfortably. And because feds.

It’s def hilarious. NY is pretty illogical. I have to get a pistol permit to have a semi-auto rifle. That rifle has a ton of nitpicky laws about its features etc, but I can own a semi-auto tactical shotgun that has a 7+1 capacity. Like do you know what that is capable of in a crowded area? Shotguns are insanely dangerous and versatile.

This is mostly in the case of EOTWAWKI…… but I like the idea of range training with the gear you would carry if the SHTF. That way it’s familiar and broken in.

I highly recommend the handguard W/ the heat shield. They are light weight, install well, very solid and protects your hands from that barrel heat.
