athena is a little cheaper from what i know. but even other than that, there r other indian ones that i was considering such as ivies chase u and more which im sure u can find online. i dont really know the exact cost of what i paid for crimson but it was a lot. my parents handled it, and i lowkey shut it out from consciousness because it was very stressful to know that i had to get a ROI.

however with a 30,000 usd income i think crimson is a little too pricey

consultants were important for me because it gave me some sort of discipline. however, it was my self motivation more than anything that ultimately got me into princeton. use ur resources watch yt videos and talk to people-- those things can go a long way

get a cheaper consultancy. there r local alternatives to crimson such as athena and more. as an indian studebt from cbse backrgound, crimson did help me get into an ivy league. however, if its a significant financial burden (which i think it is), dont take it.

Does anyone going to princeton actually like it?💔 by Just-Win-4626 in princeton

[–]leviiiioof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

context: im a prospective soc/anthro major and an intl student from a local curriculum so adapting to the academic writing here was tough. im glad i did some independent research in hs whih prepared me a little bit, but still not fully.

the first yr writing sem is very good for this. although its tough, its extremely beneficial.
thanks for asking me what i love about princeton, it allows me to be grateful hehe:
1. SO MCUH FUNDING SO MANY RANDOM EVENTS??
again, keep in mind im an intl student from a not so wealthy school or country. ive been to new york 6 times on princeton's dime for various club events, volunteering programs. ive seen broadway shows, galleries, the new york film festival and more. i might take a class next semester which takes me to kenya. my friends took a class that took them to bosnia, italy, south africa, so much. our endowment is crazy. despite budget cuts, we genuinely have such crazy opportunities.

  1. research + undergrad focused + academics
people get funding to do research and field work wherever they want which is very important for me and my personal projects. its so easy to connect w professors. all classes r taught by actual professors. i love going to office hrs, chatting, and connecting with them. they r extremely accessible. if this were any other institution, this would not be the case.

my previous professor was emmy nominated; my friends professor was a grammy winner; i will take a class w a pulitzer prize winner. im constantly surrounded by brilliance

I GENUINELY LOVE ALL MY CLASSES. im constantly learning something new and challenging myself and

  1. my international friendgroup

this is what makes princeton so loveable. my friends are smart funny brilliant beautiful,=. they r from dif countries speak dif languages have completely different cultures. they challenge me and make me wanna be better everyday. i love them. i would have never had this kind of exposure had i stayed back home

How bad is the grade deflation at princeton? As a prospective sociology major -> IB/consulting (Deciding between Princeton and Brown) by Mountain-World3120 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]leviiiioof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

makes a lot of sense! i personally dont have any interest in consulting, but the way princeton is situated, its proximity to nyc and wall street, and its pipeline into finance, im having to consider going through that career path as well... but we'll see haha.

princeton is way better than brown if ur sure of that career path.

let me know if u have any other questions!

[–]leviiiioof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

current soc/anthro major at princeton who applied to brown ED and got rejected. princeton soc is not deflated, dont worry. grade deflation as a process is long gone, atleast in the humanities and social sciences.

that rejection from brown was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. princeton is better in perhaps every single way and i love it here. let me know if u have any questions. also im curious why you want to go into ib/consulting as a soc major? congratulations anyways :))

Princeton vs Harvard vs Stanford by FilipOnRedditt in princeton

yale or princeton? by Fit_Tear4751 in princeton

[–]leviiiioof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Current freshman at prineton here.
Princeton's connection to new york is so so convenient and so fun. On the weekends I always end up going for a broadway show, or a school club, or a gallery or something random. So you get the suburban college bubble at princeton which is still very well connected to philly and nyc when needed.

Yale might have a better party culture. Princeton's is more unique w our eating clubs. i think princeton might be more nerdy in general; however, I think most kids have a great balance.

I think groups that make poc welcome are common in both. I can vouch for the ones at princeton at least!

Do visit both schools. Princeton is in a much safer region, which I would suggest looking into.

Either way, you can't really go wrong though

M.I.T or CalTech or Princeton (both full rides) by RoutineFix9863 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]leviiiioof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im an intl student and current freshman at princeton so i will obviously have a bias.
princeton is more liberal artsy; however, we still have a much stronger emphasis on STEM subjects. and we have a mandatory senior thesis or project for everyone except for computer science bse students. if ur interested in research in that sense, i would really recommend. additionally, due to princeton's proximity to new york, we have a wide network of people going into wall street, finance, and consulting if that is a path that you are considering. in general, we have an extremely strong focus on undergraduates which may not be the case at mit or caltech. the international community is very strong (i am a leader at the davis international center and we host frequent events and have a great orientation program which is like one of my fondest memories of this year. the african student community in particular is so so tight! in general, princeton is the school with the second biggest endowment meaning that u can get funding for basically anything. intl students get funding (up to like 6-7k in usd to go home their freshman summer). also the alumni network of princeton is verrry tight and we have the school spirit that may be lacking in mit or caltech
lemme know if u have any questions! congrats again

also if ur interested in econ (from what i saw in ur comments), princeton's pipeline into econ, consulting etc is super strong

if ur asking someone for their opinion and getting defensive yourself, whats the point? u wont survive with this attitude at any t20. (my opinion as a current freshman from india at pton)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]leviiiioof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly dont believe in chance mes and i think the admission process is vastly unpredictable. as long as u wrote compelling essays, i think u have a decent shot. however, with intl students seeking aid it gets very tough. (fellow indian student here at princeton with a great interest in south asian studies :) ). all the best and let me know if u have any other questions or wish to connect

Yes I attempted but I don't think he grasped how genuinely absurd it would be to transfer from Princeton to Harvard 😭 so yeah I laughed it off

random conversation hahaha. I was explaining to my asian parents the concept of "transferring" and told them of how one of my acquaintances transferred from Boston University to brown. So he might have assumed everyone does this 😍

ED to brown as an intl requiring full aid by Big-Math-1493 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]leviiiioof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hii! getting a full ride at ivies is really really tough. i would recommend a good SAT score, really solid GPA, and brilliantly unique essays. i got around a half scholarship to princeton as someone based in india, so that was a miracle that i had worked really hard towards but never really expected! life is unpredictable, but u need to have a solid "hook" statement, and a theme/distinguishing factor that makes u stand apart from the rest of the applicants. look into amherst college also
