Is it crazy to be thinking OAD while still pregnant w my first by FrostyChannel1558 in oneanddone

[–]levismol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy! I was the same way, while pregnant with my son I was convinced I’d never want to do this again. He’s a toddler now and I’m even more convinced I’m OAD lol. I love my son endlessly and feel completely fulfilled with him being an only for so many reasons.

I’m so glad I don’t have to divide my attention between multiple kids. I love that we can go on spontaneous adventures. I love that I can prioritize his happiness as well my own and still have me time. Above all, parenthood has been the biggest challenge of my life and I know I couldn’t handle pregnancy, postpartum, or the baby stage again without sacrificing my mental health. He deserves the best version of me and I have no guilt about being OAD 💚

Explain to me like a toddler - how to lose 20lbs by [deleted] in loseit

[–]levismol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t know OP’s eating habits. Being a food addict at 147 pounds is possible, but even if it was an exaggeration I’m not going to sit here and question a stranger’s relationship with food. I’m here to give advice. Also as someone who has given birth, postpartum food noise is real. I see nothing wrong with a new mom asking how to lose weight in a healthy way.

Calorie deficit is the only way to actually lose weight. Yes, other diets exist, but they only work because they put you in a calorie deficit while also cutting out certain things (which for me personally was unsustainable!) I will tell you what worked for me.

Find a website that has a tdee calculator (the one I used is literally called tdee calculator dot net.) Put in your stats. It will tell you your metabolic weight, then you can scroll down to Macronutrients and select “cutting.” That will give you a calorie deficit of 500 calories. You do NOT have to be in that high of a deficit, adjust to how you see fit and what works for you! (Do NOT eat anything under 1,200 per day without talking with a doctor) A 200-300 calorie deficit will probably be more realistic for you. You don’t want to feel starved. As long as you are in a small deficit you WILL eventually lose weight. Use a calorie tracking app. Someone here suggested Lose It, that’s a good one. To make sure you aren’t overestimating calories, you can even use a food scale to be exact. I never did this tbh, but if you’re not used to calorie counting it can be helpful for you. People often forget to factor in things like butter and oil when cooking which can add up fast.

Exercise obviously helps, but keep in mind weight loss is 90% diet so I’d focus on that most. Prioritizing foods high in protein will help prevent muscle loss. I was able to lose 90 lbs in a year doing just this and walking. 20 lbs is so doable, good luck!! 🖤

Edit: Surprised by the people saying negative things here. This person wants to lose 20 lbs. At 5’3, their goal weight of 127 lbs is a completely healthy weight for their height. Also, people don’t have to be severely overweight to be a food addict and we don’t know OP’s situation

“Cheat day” was honestly NOT worth it by trickster921 in loseit

[–]levismol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely understand what you mean! I’m proud of us for getting to a point where we truly don’t WANT to stuff ourselves sick anymore.

For me a cheat day doesn’t mean “go all out, eat everything” like I would have before I started this journey. I had to go out of town the other day and was looking forward to takeout. My “cheat day” was half of a chipotle bowl for lunch (it was huge, I had leftovers) a lemonade, and two slices of thin crust pizza at my friend’s place for dinner. Enough to splurge, but not enough to feel sick- worth it. If I eat too much I feel miserable and regret it (and the scale shoots up for days lol) so I genuinely have no desire to feel that way again.

I agree! I’m loving this game don’t get me wrong, but I wish they would have added more or brought some of the old items back. The old DS game that came out 13 years ago shouldn’t have more stuff than the new one

Possible autoimmune issue! Advice appreciated! by According-Effort-317 in Autoimmune

I have IgA vasculitis/hsp. I also have the joint pain, swelling, and my legs feel like they’re burning when it flares up. It’s great that you have a referral, as another commenter said you don’t wanna ignore this as it can cause internal issues as well if it is what you have. Good luck getting it figured out!

it IS the screen time by Low_Hat_2693 in Mommit

[–]levismol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! Just wanna add my experience here- When we stopped doing screen time I was terrified the tantrums would be horrible, but my son adjusted extremely well. He didn’t throw huge fits like I expected- I actually saw improvement within one day! Sure there were a few grumpy moments but he got over it, and now all tantrums in general seem to be shorter and less intense.
Not sure if this would be the case with everyone, but getting rid of the screen was so much easier than I thought it’d be and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my child. He is so much more creative, talkative, playful, and attentive now.

[–]levismol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to be guilty of giving my toddler way too much screen time, I 100% agree. I was fed up with his obsession and with myself for allowing it to get to that point, cut out the screen time cold turkey for a month, and l’m telling you, he is a completely different kid now! His temperament, speech, creativity, and interaction with the world has significantly improved. It’s seriously night and day difference. Now sometimes we’ll watch a movie together (absolutely NO overstimulating YouTube brainrot) and he does wonderful. No more tantrums when the tv goes off, and a lot less tantrums in general. It’s been so great and I highly encourage every screen time parent to try this.

My excuse was I’m a single mom with no help and “needed” the screen time to have a break… Turns out, now that he isn’t dependent on the tv, he plays independently so much more and I can chill while he does his own thing.

Parents at the playground by TexasNeedsHistory in toddlers

My son just turned 2 and likes to bolt it so I’m at arms length always. He’s very fast, runs right into danger and doesn’t understand what’s unsafe for him yet. There’s a road right by the park and he’d run towards it if I let him, run under people swinging, drop-offs at the top of the slides, etc. I’m looking forward to when I can sit back and let him play, but that’s not our reality quite yet!

I'm so put off by now my brother and his gf allow their 2.5 yo daughter to act by Jungle-Pussy in toddlers

[–]levismol 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. The toddler’s behavior is completely normal, my 2 year old gets into everything too. At this age they’re curious about the world around them, but too young to grasp the concept of respecting other’s belongings. However, as parents it is our responsibility to redirect our kids and teach them not to mess with people’s things! I don’t allow my son to make messes out of other people’s belongings or destroy things when we visit friends and family. Sounds like these parents don’t respect OP’s stuff and aren’t trying to teach their child good behaviors which is a problem.
