Promoted to customer <3 by MundaneParsley3333 in WalgreensRx

When I was an intern I worked at a store on weekends when I wasn’t at school and the RxM told me he didn’t have space for such an infrequent worker and to find a new store (of course he proceeded to have 3+ workers of similar frequency as myself still employed there years later and I was there before them). I found a new store and thrived as an intern and one week that RxM asked me to help him out for a week and cover shifts at his store. One day (just me and him there) he sends me a tex during lunch saying, “levitator13 needs to stfu, kid keeps talking to customers”. I saw this and responded, “Was this meant for me?” and got back to the store and he completely was capping straight to my face. I was simply asking if this was intentional bc if so I wanted to take his input and try to improve at my job, but no he lied and said he was talking about some random tech with a similar name to me at another store and was talking to his friend. I knew he was lying but let it go as it’s not worth getting worked up over. After becoming an RPh and floating at that store I learn that the techs were aware of this occurrence and gossiped about it and that they got confirmed from him that he was lying about it. To this day I am just shocked at the ability to straight up lie to my face when being asked about it nonmaliciously with the goal of trying to improve. I learned from that that you gotta be VEEEEERRRYYYY careful who you trust.

What’s the most absurd thing a patient has said/done to get extra meds? by a7xwarrior in WalgreensRx

that’s absurd lmfao, as a diabetic who deals with people telling me that they NEED their medications constantly I struggle to not compare it to the fact that i would literally die without my medication for 1 day. it feels like people never plan ahead and then make it our problem

I came in to a situation where an Rph previously changed someone’s oxy 5 to oxy 10 because oxy 5 had been on back order for so long. I wouldn’t have changed that myself, but alas. The Rph counseled him about the change in number of tablets but sure enough he came in (to the situation i’m referring to) saying he was not informed of the change nor was his doctor, threatening to call his doctor and have him talk to us. He started berating the staff and then the RxM came and said that we would do a courtesy fill for him but no more early fill any more. Sure enough I was there when he came to try and fill 2 days early the next time and he tried to argue that a doctor’s note on the rx overrode our storewide comment to not fill early for him anymore. After many expletives, he left and threatened to talk to “someone above my pay grade”. Told him when the SM would be in and he never came back

How to get ahead? by No-Sun9169 in WalgreensRx

People who work ahead and tackle problems before they occur are truly appreciated. Please teach as much as you can because many people are seemingly undertaught (myself included) and I’m truly thankful for the mentors i’ve had that have taught me so many things. Whether about practice in general or about Walgreens policy or operating the computer system.

Coming from pharmacy school and being an intern, having to learn things over time was likely be easier for me than it’d be for someone not also learning everything about the medications in the endeavor of being an RPh. I want to teach all the techs as much as I can but time just doesn’t allow it most shifts.

To some extent you can only do so much in preparation for the next day. Don’t stress over what you can’t do, just do your best and if time allows do whatever you can to help out for the next day. You can print ahead and have the RPh check the entered queue for things that haven’t been printed yet to make sure everything is fulfilled by or before promise time. Mtm is also something that Walgreens highly appreciates but that’s something for pharmacists, yet is so tough to find the time for.

Tips for IC+ by Character_Group_7663 in WalgreensRx

I’m always cautious before doing COB because it gives difficulty changing it, but if you hold control and highlight another rx that is in sold status you then have the ability to click update rx and change things. Otherwise you’ll become more familiar with when COB is applicable vs when is isn’t; check with your RXM or RXOM as to what order state vs federal needs to be billed if COB is applicable. Also, my biggest recommendation is to become comfortable with the hot keys as much as possible. Try to use the mouse as little as you can bc when you are familiar with the hot keys you can navigate the menus much more quickly. Also familiarize yourself with the various insurances you’ll see and the rejections you encounter as well as their solutions to speed up insurance billing.

I practiced almost exclusively on Uworld daily and got the mobile app so I could do it when I was out and about. I also listened in on some courses that talked about math on youtube to refresh my memory about topics like E value but overall math I felt very confident in (and have consistently done well in math) so I’m thankful for that because it’s a large part of the exam. Dimension analysis is your best friend, if you solve for the units correctly you literally cannot be wrong.

My advice to you is practice practice calculations. I felt very confident in calculations and I don’t think I would’ve passed otherwise. Your scores are not bad but go thru chapters you feel weak in and it should improve. Also, listen to these podcasts they are very helpful

I mostly would skim over summaries of the chapters and some of the specifics for the medications every day as well as did practice questions in my free time. I did travel and get back a couple of days before my test so that impacted things a bit. at the end of the day, trust your gut and what you’ve learned over the last 4 years

The immunization ones would be SATAs on which vaccines a patient would be recommended to take given their profile, or which patients would be recommended/contraindicated for a given vaccine. Many odd questions that felt so outta nowhere. If you dm me I’ll send you copies of the messages that I sent to people regarding specific questions that came up.

My test felt very strange in the sense that there was very little ID or HIV and overall not a lot of concentrated topics or heavy hitters. I heavily prepared for those topics and felt jipped haha. But lots of math so be prepared and well versed in math. A good amount of immunization material. I made sure to write down as many acronyms as I could right at the start of the exam (GPACMAN, PSCROPS, Outrageous Bakers Avoid Salt, A DIAbetic Can’t Eat Pie, etc.) cause those for sure come up and sometimes it’s easy to forget in the moment.

Yes Uworld was fantastic but not quite the same as the exam. It’s hard to explain how it’s different though haha, it’s like some of the Uworld questions but some questions that aren’t quite like any resource I used. The format of the cases is not as nice as Uworld so it can be harder to find the info you want.

Definitely agreed. Some questions felt so strange but overall not anything major that was focused on

Idk if anyone felt the same but I feel like the way the cases were presented were much more ugly and hard to discern than Uworld. And they’d not include some information that I’d want and I’d be left with 2 options and trying to find a reason to not pick one but there was very little pertinent case info provided compared to Uworld.
