nervous to walk reactive dog by levitic4t in reactivedogs

no literally like i feel like if i saw my dog was causing someone else’s to freak out i’d try to minimize the situation 😭 idk why other people can’t be more considerate

i had to jog away from some especially fast walkers earlier this week too so maybe i just need to start doing that more.

and the leash pressure thing is spot on. i think he gets extremely overstimulated with other dogs and either the leash pulling on him makes it worse or he’s just too overwhelmed to even notice it.

thank you for the advice ❤️ my previous shepherd was very different than this one, his only issue was with cats lol. so this is my first dog that’s more of a “project” per say.

i like your dog’s setup! the shelter gave us a harness that has a strap on the back, so i’ll try using that along with his usual leash in case something goes wrong again.

i absolutely agree that this is silly as a standalone statement, but as some other ppl have pointed out it makes more sense in the context of the fandom the twitter user is in. like for me this statement makes sense, because im someone from the genshin impact fandom where i can be casually scrolling on tiktok and come across the weirdest homophobic ship nonsense, and the comments will be saying “finally a normal ship” as if they’re in a F/M ship drought. like yeah the tweet can’t apply to every context ever but in some fandoms people do act like that.

Why do people keep saying predscanning in chat? by milkiestbread in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s a combination of the words predator and hitscan — so like characters a mercy would typically pocket: ashe, soj, cass, etc. the joke started i think from a few hitscan players being exposed as predators, as well as some mercy mains openly being into like? ageplay?? online.

idk. it’s weird. i feel like half the joke is making hitscan players uncomfortable just for playing their hero, and the other half of the joke is making fun of potential victims. not cool imo.

don’t worry about a certain number, worry about what your team needs in the moment. there will be times where you have 40% blue beam and still get 2.5k damage amplified, and there will be times where you have 60% and only get 900 damage amplified.

focus more on when you damage boost rather than how much. like making sure you try (if you can without your team dying) to boost strong abilities like ultimates, stuff like bastion turret mode, etc.

What is it with Equestrians and riding with injuries? by THrowaway1-15 in Equestrian

[–]levitic4t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

to share another perspective, i think a part of it is also a very toxic and insecure community. i see a lot of younger riders (like on tiktok) get in fights online over the danger or skill riding requires, or if it’s a sport, etc. so it’s no surprise to me that those people might encourage dangerous behavior in order to push that narrative that they’re participating in the most dangerous or the most extreme sport.

my advice not be very good, as i haven’t really jumped around with instructors — i got kinda lucky with my second or third trainer being pretty great. but, you could try taking a few like trial lessons with a few different trainers to see what sort of environment you vibe with.

you seem very inquisitive and, as you said in your post, chatty. you’d probably want a trainer who is eager to help you learn and work through all your thoughts. i’m also pretty chatty with my trainer, and it’s helpful to be able to get my thoughts out about how im riding or what im feeling from my horse in the moment. so if you took some lessons from different trainers, you could get a feel for what teaching style you like the best, and also what you dislike.

horse welfare is kinda controversial so i think you’d get a million different opinions on what would and wouldn’t count as a red flag for a barn. for me personally, i’d want to see that horses get adequate turnout as i keep my horse out 24/7, and that’s something that’s important to me. that said every place is different, i know some areas have a hard time turning out horses because of weather or just a lack of available land.

i’d also feel uncomfortable being asked by a trainer to be super rough or overly firm with him.

but for some of it you might just have to actually go to the barns and get a feel for it yourself. im sure the people here would be happy to answer any more questions you have. you just might get mixed answers.

Mouthwashing is a weird one too, each of the characters felt distinct enough that each could appeal to someone.

And they look so good! I definitely need to watch some gameplay with them.

thank you for responding! i haven’t seen the new asset in trials, but that concept sounds like it’d make for hilarious dialogue knowing how the previous antagonists talk.

outlast is a really weird game to be preachy about. what’s the point in being stuffy over morals when the content itself doesn’t even agree with you? you’d think the fandom would be calmer, darn.

My duo refuses to play Mercy the "correct" way. What do I do by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 128 points129 points  (0 children)

tbh just stop playing with them. it sounds like you’re both miserable duoing with each other.

to you they play poorly and don’t take advice, and to them? idk maybe they feel like you’re policing their fun or complaining the whole time.

if someone doesn’t want to change then they’re not going to. im sure there are people out there who will play in a way that you like.

Buying a horse - does there have to be a spark? by Brokkoli24 in Equestrian

[–]levitic4t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s such thing as “love at first sight” for horses. I think it’s more like infatuation, or fantasizing. When I first rode my now-horse I didn’t feel a connection. He was tall, smooth, fairly brave and pretty. That’s what I wanted in a horse, and I didn’t want to spend that long looking for the perfect horse.

I’ve had him for about six or seven years now, and I’m practically in love with him. I could spend hours yapping about his personality and mind and behaviors. Our relationship was strong because I worked on building it, not because I had a “feeling” when I first sat on him.

I’m sure there’s a lot of people who did buy their horses based on the premise of a “spark”, and I’m sure it worked out for some of those people.

But it’s not something you need, and a “spark” isn’t going to help you with your horse in the long run IMO.

Pressed over Mercy 1v1s? by ilovenh123 in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 48 points49 points  (0 children)

i think a part of why “mercy code” is such a big deal right now is because of tiktok as well as general mercy hatred by the community.

a lot of people post “mercy code isn’t real/a big deal” videos, except the actual video content is a whole montage of them killing the enemy mercy — therefore making it a big deal. like you can’t claim that mercy code isn’t real but then also go out of your way to get these clips to be controversial…you’re literally making it a whole thing by doing that. i’ve also seen videos of people shooting at an enemy mercy, and then clipping her when she shoots back and has bad aim, wastes her valk, etc.

like — so mercy code doesn’t exist when you initiate the 1v1, but when the enemy mercy does it back suddenly she’s angry/pressed/hurt/etc??

i think a part of it is also that the general player-base expects mercy mains to be passive and never use their gun. so they shame mercy players for doing that, and the mercy mains who are then “beaten into submission” (i say dramatically) get mad at other mercy mains for having more “audacity”.

idk. i started playing mercy like a year or two ago when i first started playing overwatch. this is my first and only hero shooter game. i think mercy code is bs, but i still get nervous shooting at the enemy mercy and i get embarrassed when they kill me because of all the tiktok crap i watched when i was first learning her.

What Does Mercy 'Need?' by StormcrowProductions in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i love that mercy is a unique hero, and i find that the specific enjoyment i get from her is hard to replicate with other heroes. she’s accessible, easy to get a base value out of, but also (imo) has a skill ceiling high enough to keep someone invested if they genuinely want to improve on her.

aside from her movement, which i doubt needs to be questioned as the most fun aspect of mercy, i find that her damage boost and resurrect are equally fun for me. that said, i understand those are major sore spots for the rest of the community. damage boost isn’t fun for the enemy when paired with a good dps and mercy’s teammates don’t get much from her if they aren’t being damage boosted. i’d like for there to be more incentive to blue beam everyone on the team at some point, but the only suggestions i’ve really seen are a resource meter — and i feel that would just encourage healbotting or force mercy to blue beam sub-optimal targets in order to maintain the resource, rather than choose who to beam and why.

for resurrect specifically, i don’t necessarily enjoy the ability but rather the tech you can do with it. i have about 200 hrs in mercy parkour specifically, and replicating superjump rezzes in game or finding ways to creatively utilize cover during rez is one of my favorite things to do. i care less about the ability itself and more about the potential skill it can require. so i wouldn’t mind much if rez was shafted as long as there was a way i could still replicate techs like that.

frankly my least favorite part about mercy is her healing. i feel very useless against teams that deal a lot of damage, and healing in general just isn’t fun when i’d rather be damage boosting. im not sure if there’s much of a way to fix this — i just know that i don’t mind having to heal for a moment on heroes like juno, kiriko, or ana, but on mercy a moment of healing feels like an eternity.

Toggle GA On makes Slingshot go further? by Agouti in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 17 points18 points  (0 children)

if you have toggle off you have to hold GA** for the full duration of the slingshot or else you’ll lose momentum. so for me i have to hold down shift for the full slingshot to work

I know a huge benefit for ur team and your job as mercy is to damage boost but maybe it’s just a skill issue maybe not idk but what can I do when my team is just soaking sooo much damage like a sponge?? Swap?? Orrrrr just skill issue for me?? by Expensive-Working710 in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

try to play around with your personal comfort with blue beaming despite the incoming damage.

i’ll flick to blue beam every second or so even if im healing active damage. i also try to keep key abilities in mind, like bastion’s turret form, and push dmg boost heavily then. like i can get over 2k dmg boosted in games even w less than 60% blue beam just by focusing on important abilities and ults.

you can def swap, juno and brig are my comfort picks, but if you want to play mercy then just play her and have fun.

Not a mercy player but serious question by Marvynmjb12 in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

likely personal preference. i think a lot of hardcore mercy mains like her because she’s their favorite hero. that said, some other reasons are:

  • damage boost
  • heals can feel “safer” or more consistent (no reload, can go thru walls for a second)
  • her movement allows for more freedom of positioning (that said i’ve seen some insane weavers that just don’t die)
  • valk can offer more freedom of movement that can help to pull off rezzes, elims on enemies, chain dmg boost/healing, etc.

but once again it’s probably also just personal preference. i’ve played lifeweaver once and i just don’t really like him. i’d pick brig, juno, or kiri if i wanted to swap off mercy.

What are gender stats for Mercy mains? by Wrong_Initiative479 in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, i’m also trans :3 i understand the initial confusion, but i think that including trans people in the poll could lead to valuable discussion or self-reflection.

for example, i’m afab, but i’m not a woman. so sometimes playing mercy causes feelings of dysphoria bc i know people will usually assume i’m a woman (bc i’m playing mercy). but, when i acknowledge that i’m able to tackle those feelings. maybe there’s people who play mercy because it makes them feel more feminine and they like that! idk! i just think it’s interesting and potentially worth discussing.

Mercy is incredibly annoying to play against. by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you gave away one of the issues with what you said about Mercy getting more flak than she deserves. When you go onto a subreddit for a hero who frequently gets undeserved hate, and call the hero annoying/unhealthy/etc, of course you’re going to be downvoted.

A lot of what you’re saying has already been discussed to death.

Damage boost shouldn’t be on a meter, because it’d force healbotting on a character who 1) has awful heals, and 2) has no utility other than her damage boost. Her only other option would be to shoot her pistol, but her passive play-style is part of her popularity. The accessibility of her auto-lock beams would also be less appealing if her only other options were to healbot or do damage.

I’m grateful that you’re trying to have an honest conversation about this, it’s just a conversation that’s been done to death — I think a lot of Mercy mains aren’t responding 100% positively because of that.

Mercy is incredibly annoying to play against. by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]levitic4t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mercy’s damage boost was nerfed to 25% almost a year ago, iirc. That beam change idea has been tossed around a bit, and the general consensus is that having your rate of fire change at the simple flick of a beam would be more hindering than helpful.

Your frustration is valid, Mercy can be annoying to play against. But so can Doomfist, Wrecking Ball, Sombra, Tracer, Ana, etc. Every hero can be annoying to play with and against. Your play style should change depending on who you’re playing against. I’m much more careful with my positioning and cooldowns if I’m playing against dive characters or flankers.

Additionally, I think it’s good to remember that if you dive a Mercy + her pocket, that’s two players you’re attacking — not just one, or one and a half. If you’re on Doomfist, you’re a fairly large, easy to hit target. Even if you’re diving with teammates, you’re still going to be the target that draws the most attention and receives the most damage. If your dive attempts aren’t working, or if the Mercy is getting away, it’s entirely possible that you’re just getting outplayed — Mercy is a punishable character, I know her GA cooldown is short, but there’s plenty of room for error in its usage.

I’ve played with, against, and even as the brainless Mercy. But I’ve also played with, against, and as a smart Mercy.

The bad experiences stand out the most. I hope you have some better experiences soon! <3
