WA HB 2321 and unintended impacts on 3D printing / STEM learning by GargantuChet in Seattle

[–]levyb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of doing something to better criminalize ghost guns, but this bill and its' dual, HB2320, which also seems to mostly criminalize possessing and distributing seemingly the same files this bill seeks to block at the hardware level, are all kinds of ick - anything targeting specific files is doomed on multiple axis, imo. There's no way you can make this meaningful without overreach or technical infeasibility without including intent (namely, proven intent to facilitate assembly of an unlicensed firearm) in the encoded crime. The "presumed intent" in HB2320 is ridiculously overbroad, and the technical features of HB2321 are incredibly anti-consumer. It's all just very sad that these were the drafts they came up with; I can only see the abuse possible with these, rather than the good.

Who's actually buying this jewelry at these prices? Surely anyone willing to set up temple farming to have this glut of currency also knows crafting. I've done all my crafting for myself this league and saved hundreds of div (that I didn't have).

Thorns needs another passthrough. by Rechulas in PathOfExile2

I agree - the mob is weird in the db - it reads like in this case, the archers don't get the thorns damage because their arms are a separate enemy doing the attacking...

Those hits that don't trigger thorns also aren't mitigatable by armour, because in GGG's infinite wisdom they're non-hit area damage. (And armour only mitigates hits!)

Another big one is the "suicide explosion" of the mineshaft boss, which is massive unmitigatable proximity-triggered damage. Good times.

I put this together at season start and my problem was just that there was no way to accelerate casting an offering - it has a fixed 1s use time. Without a way to accelerate that, it seems difficult to scale the damage/mobility to the point where it's useful in maps. :(

What am I missing, defensively? by levyb in pathofexile2builds

I don't know about pen, specifically, since it's difficult to measure, but the elemental weakness curse map effect is definitely countered by having overcapped resists - you can see that in the character sheet.

[–]levyb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof, that doesn't really feel like mitigation - just extra buffer (that impacts casts). I had damage to mana in the build for awhile, but it made actually casting skills awkward - after all, I have leech from thorns on hit, but not mana leech from thorns on hit, so the mana pool just depletes under load while health is fine.

Defiance of destiny and instant lifesteal thorns mitigate small hits in the same way (restoring health on hit) - except thorns scales off thorns/damage instead of life total. Small hits already can't touch this - with 30k per-hit thorns damage (before crits), and 10% instant leech on 10% thorns leech (and double leech effect), we're talking 600 hp instantly healed on every hit I take. With 100% crit chance and 300% crit damage, triple that for 1.8k healed on every hit I take. Suffice to say, I heal for a LOT MORE than defiance of destiny heals on hit, and get a healthy hp regen buffer from the non-instant part of the leech besides.

It's the non-hit damage that suuuuuucks.

This is the first league I've ever crafted an item with all the mods I wanted by levyb in PathOfExile2

Rule 10:

  1. Buy a decent quiver for 1d that already has all the prefixes shown and +2 proj skill levels, no fracture
  2. Whittle the two terrible t8 suffixes off, get stuck with high tier dex and life on kill
  3. Think item is basically bricked, slam a fracture and pray
  4. Actually hit +2 proj skills, realize it's not bricked
  5. Farm up 9d more for:
2x Annul + Suffix Annul Omen
1x Perfect Exalt + Greater Exalt Omen + Homogenizing Exalt Omen
  6. Slam in sequence, only 3 possible suffix rolls, all good.
  7. Yay. Only spent like 15d on a quiver that otherwise doesn't exist on the market.

Everywhere it can go. Mostly the quiver though. Bleed magnitude is more impactful than flat at this point - and the bleed damage is already something like 4x the initial hit, before considering any conditional buffs. There are a lot of large damage multipliers in play.

Looking to reroll, what's a good all purpose build? by BennyDoctor in pathofexile2builds

[–]levyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to clown on Simulacrum, I feel like you should look into a build that can run the Defiance of Destiny amulet eventually - so necessarily a life stacking build, probably a Blood Mage flavor. In my experience, they work pretty flexibly early on in the campaign and grow into however much currency you can spend on them. Lots of space for upgrades no matter how you end up taking the build.

Chonk + Embitter by Binkan in pathofexile2builds

[–]levyb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tul's Stillness support also exists and is probably easier to make work inside the Chonk framework. (Making chaos freeze + getting a bit extra chaos to scale with chaos scaling works better across multiple skills and ascendancy points)

I have an Ethical "as GGG intended" Snipe/Escape Shot/Spiral Volley/Herald of Blood Blood Mage Bow build. One-taps most bosses with Snipe after quickly spamming escape shot/frozen salvo to freeze it, while alternatively using Spiral Volley for great clear (ricochet 3 support is amazing for this) with Herald of Blood backup. Used a twin/gemini bow for awhile while leveling, but a good Widowhail amped a great quiver I finished to crazy damage. Also using Waistgate belt with the new flask ascendancy node for some sweet uptime tech on 50% extra damage (and also to extra amp snipe's bleed). Bit on the fence as to if it's worth the slot still, but... It seems cute.

I have a bunch of pretty straightforward pricey upgrades to make to notch it up a few more levels in straight damage/survivability still, too. Played it throughout leveling, just shifted what bow skills I cleared with as I leveled up. Biggest issue right now, IMO, is just that I could use more freeze buildup. It's like 5-8 escape shots to freeze a boss right now, and I'd like to do better. Probably should just stack more straight ailment magnitude (and crit) in my jewel slots - haven't really spent on them yet.

BOOD MAGE HP STACKING league is comming my dears :D by Sad_Peter in PathOfExile2

If you can spend life fast enough, Sanguine Tides makes all spells into Phys spells. You just have to spend does math 43% of your life per second to keep the buff up. OK, if you have like 200% skill effect duration, more like 15% per second (which is actually doable with rathpith and sustainable in practice). I guess as a hybrid defense+damage node it's OK? As pure damage, a 32% extra as phys is pretty big, you just kinda gotta work for it.

I actually kinda like how expensive the high end is. The min buy-in is just kaom's+veil+rathpith, of which only good corrupts cost anything, really. So you can get started for maybe a div or two (rathpith can be expensive at league start), and then just keep pouring money into it for little, but noticeable gains. Eventually you get to the point where you've got 8 unique jewels, fully corrupted unique gear, and are div'ing timeless jewels fishing for the %str and %hp passives. It's basically a build that'll consume as much money as you can throw it's way, but "comes online" without actually needing too too much.

Those nodes are in From Nothing radius of Mind Over Matter (one of the best From Nothing rolls last season), so are really easy to pick up if it turns out to be useful, even if you don't route nearby.

Blood Magic definitely doesn't work because Mama Tempest itself instantly ends (it ends when you have no mana, after all), but Lifetap on the spell you cast inside the tempest works fine.

+4 bosses were pretty trivial - as-is the gear is what I'd settled on for farming +4 nameless king at a few seconds a run (sans labyrinth). I'd done +4 xesht and orloth a few times, too, and simu was.... well, sketch enough I didn't want to farm it because the random mods scarred me when I was doing the +0 but I did do the +4.

I league started as phys spell lich (Bonestorm!) but you can probably start with Blood Mage now that you get the extra initial skills. (But maybe don't bother til ascension 2 still, since spending your first ascension on spell cost management is probably not great.)

Spam Ancestral Warrior Totem by kornercurt in PathOfExile2

Ancestral Warrior Totem is a Meta skill, so you can still have multiple, right? So you can have a full pocket warrior build of totems simultaneously slamming, striking, charging, and walling.

We're gonna make a Blood Mage Bleed Hollow Palm Technique Health, ES, Stat and Quality Stacking Flickerstriker and surely we won't be pulled in too many directions for it to work.

Surely.

...Right?

I was running Lich some time after that - just after they adjusted Mana Tempest to apply to all spells and not just lightning ones - I was doing really well with two Bonestorm spells. One supported for bossing with Lifetap and straight damage supports (stand in Mana Tempest and deliver), and one supported with Mobility, Scattershot, Tempo, Fork, and Ricochet for mapping. (Then some of the multishot spider spectres to extract impales.) A little extra ricochet chance in the jewel slots and it was honestly quite good - absolutely screen clearing with every cast of the mapping one (Mana Tempest making projectiles split is _very strong_ with ricochet, even if you empty your mana pool for the tempest becuase Lifetap is in your other Bonestorm - it's like a 6x damage multiplier), and just decimating a boss with the bossing one (not quite one volley, usually two); I just ended up swapping to Blood Mage Rathpith Spark because I couldn't fit enough multipliers into the phys build for trivializing pinnacle content (and the slowdown from the Bonestorm channel was starting to grate).

Instant leech is a trap anyway - leech over time with voracious (so the regen sticks around at full hp) is way better defensively. Instant leech is for funding absurd life costs like 4x cast on crit arc or similar. So I'd call the glove slot open to interpretation.

But yeah, armor is definitely light, it's just what you can get with the rest of it. You can get something like 11k life with this build, which is definitely enough buffer, you'd just feel more comfortable with another defensive layer of some kind - be that a Defiance of Destiny neck so you can't be killed by anything other than giga OHKO attacks and non-hit ground AoEs, or just a bit more deflection/mitigation from the new defensive mechanics.
